  1. Hi Everyone, I look forward to being able to not be so out of breath just walking around the house or doing laundry. I look forward to my feet not swelling at the end of a long work day. I look forward to not feeling so bloated all the time. Most of all, I look forward to a healthier me so I can watch my kids grow up, as well as hopefully enjoy grandchildren ! Oh.. one more... I want my husband to look at me like he does other nice looking women and say "uh oh". (That's his thing he says when he sees a nice looking woman). I've never heard it when he looks at me. That would be awesome !
  2. Hi everyone, I had my initial visit with Dr. Jay (NeWeigh) and he issued some lab work, a sleep study and a visit with my internal medicine doctor. I immediately made an appointment with my int. med doctor and she ordered an EKG and chest x-ray. I completed the labs, xray and ekg and am scheduled for the sleep study on October 1st. I'm doing my part to get approved. THEN... I get a letter in the mail from NeWeigh stating they wrote my insurance for the approval process. It was my understanding that I had to have all of these tests done first before my insurance would approve me. I am confused. The little tests were all "out of pocket" expenses because I have a high deductible on my health insurance. The sleep study is going to cost so much that they have to split it up into 4 monthly payments. Do I really need the sleep study if the insurance approves? Is it normal for them to send in approval while other testing is going on? I know I can call them and ask all of these questions, but I wanted to see if anyone else had the same thing going on or maybe went through? I'm not being impatient, I've been big for the last 20 yrs, what's another month going to hurt LOL Thank you all.
  3. Hi All, Just an update on me. I had my first appointment with NeWeigh on Thursday, 9/7/06 and have an appointment scheduled for this coming Thursday 9/14/06 with Dr. Jay. They said I will be watching a video of the types of surgeries and then actually meeting with the doctor afterwards. The first appointment was just to get all of my medical history and information. They said I would be given a prescription for some tests to be done (labs and things) and that I should have them done right away since United Health Care approves pretty quickly. It was nice to hear that approval may happen. That's where I stand at the moment. After reviewing all the posts and things online I've decided to do the lapband. My husband didn't like the idea of my anatomy inside being reconstructed. I'm sure the doctor will advise what's the best one for me. Thank you all for your kind words and support. ! Lori in Katy, TX
  4. Hi, I live in West Houston and am going for my first consultation this Thursday. They say I "have coverage" but I'm sure this is the first step of the approval process. I have gone through NeWeigh and am excited about getting more information. I have been told I will see Dr. "Jay" on September 14th. My husband and I have been doing some research on the different types of surgeries and I really like the lap band versus the RNY. I don't like the idea of my anatomy being "reconstructed". Would you all mind sharing a little bit with me on how well you're doing with your weight loss and why you chose this surgery over the bypass? Thank you all in advance for your help and guidance. Lori in Katy, TX
