  1. Hi Setta,

How are things going? How are you doing these days? I'm going for my second fill today with the nurse and no xray. I'm a little worried as I have heard some horror stories, but on the upside, I can fill exactly where my port is, so I hope it is easier for her to poke. I have not lost any more weight since my last fill...it is really hard. The nutritionist is telling me 1/2 cup of food per meal and that is not working. I would starve if I stuck with that. I've been trying to follow WW and a low carb diet at the same time. I'm down about 15 lbs total since surgery.

  2. Hi Setta,

I'm feeling pretty good these days. I get my first fill on 4/16. You are doing really well with the weight loss :) I'm starting my regular exercise program today....at least 35 minutes of something. The nurse told me today to leave the protein shakes alone for a while...I can drink one of the day of my fill. I have one more week of mushy and then I start regular foods. For Easter, I plan to go to church and have me some sort of mushy meal for dinner, I guess. What are you planning for Easter?

  3. Wow..you must have lost a lot on the pre-op diet...I only lost 3 lbs on pre-op and 10 lbs since surgery. I am scheduled for my first fill on April 16. What are you eating these days? I'm on mushy for one more week, then back to regular foods. I'm back to my ole self also, in fact I'm feeling pretty good. My clothes are fitting better, so I'm happy. Happy Easter to you too!

  4. Hi Setta,

Nic pic :) How are you doing? Haven't touched basis with you in a while. Are you enjoying the band yet? Are you on mushy yet? What are you eating? I'm having a hard time figuring out what else to eat. I've been eating tuna, canned chicken, yogurt and oatmeal. I'm really too scared to try much of anything else....the ones I mentioned go down pretty good, but I'm sure I'll be tired of eating that soon. My last weigh in (Sunday) I was down 13 lbs....I hear the 1 lb a day is over once we start mushy :( It was nice while it lasted. Tomorrow I go for my 2 wk followup Dr. appt.

  5. My surgery date was March 18th and today is my first day with no gas pains...whew! I'v lost 10 lbs post surgery and 3 lbs during pre-op. I started my mushies today, but having trouble figuring out what foods are mushies. Today I had oatmeal w/nonfat dry milk for added protein, 1 Adkins shake w/nonfat dry milk, and canned tuna with creamed spinach. Is that considered a typical "mushy" day?

    Day after Sx

I am one week out on post op and I know the feeling, but it does get better. Its really hard in the beginning to get all of your protein in, but in a couple of days you should be able to get the shakes down with no problem. My biggest problem was the gas pains. Today is my first day without. Hang in there.
  7. Hi Setta,

All is well with me. I'm feeling about 90% of my former self. I've been having regular BMs all week. I'm still having regular gas pains in my tummy and shoulder pain. I was thinking maybe I'm becoming lactose intolerant as they always seem to kick up whenever I drink a shake. Last night I was trying to eat a yogurt and I had the worse gas pains kick in that I couldn't have but a couple of spoonsfull. I start the mushy today...yippee!.

  8. Congrats! You've done an excellent job! That is really awesome.
  9. I tried the Milk of Mag. last night before bed and relieved myself twice this morning....it was a welcome relief

    Today is the day!!!

Happy B-Day and Good Luck! My day is tomorrow :cursing:
  11. O.k...tomorrow is the big day. For some reason I am calm...LOL. I even feel like I can go to sleep tonight...this is weird. Good luck tomorrow and God bless.

  12. Yes, March 18th is the day. Are you nervous, excited or scared? I am all of the above. I'm sure I'll be doing an all nighter on Wednesday.

    I'm Skerrred!

Steph....you'll be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow....good luck and I hope all goes well. My date is scheduled for 3/18 and I'm sure I'll be up all night the night before full of nerves, which I think is normal. I hope you get a good night sleep and be ready for what tomorrow will bring.
  14. I got my surgery date today - March 18th and I don't no whether to laugh or cry!! Seriously, I am elated and nervous. I start 2 week preop diet tomorrow. :smile2:

    Protein Question

Drasan, The nutritionist told us at the seminar to have the (2) high Protein drinks daily or Meal Replacement bar, a sensible dinner to include 4 ozs of lean meat and 2 veggies. Avoid starchy veggies such as corn, peas, potatoes, sweet potatoes. Two Snacks would incl. light yogurt or small fruit or FF cottage cheese. She says we should lose weight by following the above. Hope this helps.

    Protein Question

The nutritionist at the pre-op class yesterday told us it was very important to have 60 grams for post op. She did not give an amount for the 2 week pre-op.
  17. Very exciting it is....good luck and best wishes to you today!

    Approved!

Congratulations on your surgery date! This does seem like a long process, but maybe we're all just anxious to have the surgery and start shedding the pounds. I started the process back in November. I've been approved by my insurance, but waiting on the surgery date, which I hope to find out next week. Kudos to you!

    Last PRE-op post!

Good luck and hope all goes well.
  20. Thank you Drasan....I'm glad to see I'm not the only one eating like crazy these days. I know what you mean about being scared to post the surgery date. This process is not going fast enough for me. I think once I actually get a date, I will believe that it may happen.....I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed too.
  21. Hello All.....I am hoping to be a March bandster, but I do not have a surgery date as of yet. BC/BS Federal approved me about a week after submitting paperwork. Now, I have to attend a mandatory pre-op class on March 1...after this the Dr. will schedule the surgery date :frown: I am very excited and nervous at the same time. I am also a little worried as every since I was approved on 2/18, my eating habits are getting to be a bit outrageous  I know I am ready for this mentally, but I need a surgery date ASAP!
  22. How did your appt. go with Dr. Brengman? He was highly recommended to me by a another bandster.
  23. Hello All....I just joined the site yesterday. The site is very informative and I am enjoying reading all of the questions/responses/blogs. My plan is to switch over to Fed BC/BS this open season and hopefully get approved and have surgery early next year. I hope it works as planned....good luck everyone.. Thin is in!! :wink2:
