(for whatever that info is worth) apparently the article is scanned in. Absoutely I am a lap band preemie and I would love to have the positive of the lap band shouted from the forum!! The Negatives are so strong and EVERYWHERE you look and from everyone you talk to or who knows your considering it!! I would like to know it was worth it and people would do it again. I was suprised that the survey went from 88% to 82%. I havent checked today to see if it is lower. Im sure 80% is high to exceptional. It just scares me I dont want to be the 20% who is having problems. I need this to work this is my last chance!!

It's so good to see someone who has had their band and not had it removed because of problems! I hope to have mine in for the rest of my 50+years of life to live!!

My date is 9/14!! Im so excited!! No fear just thrilled I got covered by ins!!

My husband had the RNY, he was 411 and now 260, Yes he takes B12 and chewable flintstones. He can eat normal portions, does not have dumping or diarrhea, can eat sweets, does drink diet soda. He just doesnt absorb all the calories he eats= very tempting. Im going band since I dont qualify for RNY. Maybe my band will get him back on track and he can loose his last 30 pounds. He had every complication= open surgery that 6days later at home ruptured open and everything came out and had to have emergency surgery to put him back together. I packed that wound for 6 weeks!! He said then and now he would do it all over again even with the complications!! It is actually less after care than the band- which ever the insurance will pay for is the one I would do, and not look back and never second guess your decision!! Good Luck~~

Ok Ive got the PBing what about liquids... your not suppose to drink with meals and I get the whole siphon, washing it thru defeating the band idea- what if youve got dry chicken in your mouth- can you wet it just enough to moisten it? Is it a hard transition to eat without drinking- unconciously I drink to wash down what Ive eaten!! Ive paid special attention lately in efforts to break this prior to surgery!

Its all about "carve outs" and cost. Too expensive to cover, however if Obesity ever gets classified as a disease like alcoholism or depression or heart disease then it will be covered- HOWEVER expect premiums to sky rocket. As long as a company can decide their exclusions they can control the costs. Once they are no longer able to do that it will be passed to the consumer!! Insurance is BIG business and the insurance companies are currently in the drivers seat!!

The video Tim shared shows they can do a port revision as an office procedure under a local in that area. Some leave it flipped if they are using fluro I guess its surgeons choice. Good Luck!!

The smoothie factory sells their low carb protein mix its "Gladiator" and it comes in choc, vanilla & strawberry. The strawberry is Great!! Ive had choc, vanilla in the store but not at home. It contains per 2 scoops 190cal 1.5carbs and 45g Protein!! I put 2 scoops per 8oz skim milk and a few ice cubes. There are 20 servings per container and its about $40- so $2 per serving but who's counting at this point! The 45g Protein is why I got it!!

I think by reading the boards, some surgeons require pre-op liquids & others do not. So it can't be the be the end all that the 30# dictator feels it is. Thats why they use a liver spreader! I truly buy into the if your nourished you heal better, but thats why Im a pedi not a surgeon!

That pre-op consent says all the bad stuff even if all they are doing is taking a skin biopsy. Remember we live in a lsue happy society where people win lawsuits for hot coffee and being fat from fast food. Its just so they are covered that you were aware that even with odds of 1:100,000 it could hypothetically happen. Dont worry about the paperwork. concentrate on the positive of getting it done and getting well!! There are thousands that cant get as far as you have. Be thrilled!!

Mert and Michelle= I have also been examined by all. Did not fail my sleep study, passed the psy eval now just waiting on ins to realize that they have to cover it since I met their criteria. Did you have to pre-op fast? Im scheduled for 9/21 and I am soooo excited!! I now look at skinny people to compare what I will look like instead of looking at fat ones wondering if Im that size? I dont think the mushies will be hard, its the clears im worried about.

THAT is my biggest fear of being banded. IF I could do liquid I wouldnt be fat! I will do it because I want my band really badly- but Im scared of the pre-op and 2-4weeks following band surgery. Chunky chicks dont do well with fasting or clear liquids!!

Good question and you answered with what Im telling those I work with. I am not telling the people I work around. Only my immediate family will know. At this point Im not telling my closest friends either since they tend to lecture and sabatoge. I did well on southbeach until my closest friend who at the time didnt understand the plan lectured on health hazards- since she has lost 60# and maintained for 1.5yr on Southbeach! She now pushes it on everyone. It was the biggest fight our friendship survived. I digress- Im telling everyone Im cutting back that the time has come and I have to do something to live healthier.
