    problem taking meds

My Doctor gave me liquid pain meds but I also had pain meds going directly to my incision site with a ball of medicine attached. It was wonderful. Hardly no pain at all and when the ball was empty I just pulled the cath out. It was the best thing.

    Telling people...??

I have only told my close family. I have heard all the comments about this being the easy way but let me tell you it is not easy. It is still work. I made the decision to keep it to myself because I don't feel like I have to explain my decision. It is my decision. You don't go around telling people every intimate detail about your life and this is no different. Most people to not consider eating an addiction but it is. They think you should just stop eating so much. I did this for myself, my Healy and my life. It is no ones business.

To Weigh or Not to Weigh

Ok Friends I need your opinion. Do you weigh yourself everyday or do you do it once a week?? I have been weighing myself daily and it seems to just make me more aggregated than anything. I just can't seem to pass up those scales every morning. Do you think this is a good habit or not.

I have a question and need some help. My exercise from my Fit bit is not showing up on My Fitness Pal. I have checked and they are still synced. Any ideas what it could be or how I could fix it.

    my fitness pal

I to am new to this site and I am unsure how to add people. Please feel free to add me. I am selsh819. Thanks so much.
  6. I think you read my mind. This is exactly where I am at. I have a 10cc band and I have 7.5cc's in it. At first I was really tight and after a week or so, it was better. Now, like two months later, I am so tight that I can not hardly eat. I am down to only eating about a small handfull of food twice a day if I am lucky. My Doctor has been out of town, but I have an appointment next week. I have been banded since October 2009 and I have never up chucked until the last couple of months. I have also found that I am making the worst noises after I eat. It sound like my food is trying to eat my insides. It almost sounds like a frog!! Dont think I have lost my mind. My husband says he can hear it across the room. It doesnt hurt but it is embarassing, especially when I elected not to reveal my surgery to anyone. I will keep you posted, and please let me know how you are doing and what your Dr. says. Two opinions are usually better than one. Thanks for posting, I really needed to know that someone else is feeling this as well.

    Gas issue

I feel your pain, literally!! I have the same problems. I have found that the Gas-X strips work the best. I can use two of them and it seems to go away. I also agree that getting some exercise helps. I go for a brisk walk or run on the treadmill and it does help. I also find a nice place to relieve some of the pressure. The way I look at it is that God gave us the ability to relieve it and I am going to use it. Maybe try the strips and see if that helps.
  8. I know exactly what you are going through. I was a self pay patient. My surgery cost $17,000.00 in total and I felt the same way. My Doctor was very strict with my post op diet, but trust me it does get better. When you start getting fills you can tell a big difference. I am having a little trouble with my band right now, but it is my fault. Because it is summer, I have gotten off my regular routine and eating times and now when I eat it is making me a little sick. I have made more trips to the bathroom in the last month than ever!! Hang in there. I had my surgery in October 2009 and I have already lost my 100 pounds. I want to go down at least 30 more pounds. Dont get discouraged this soon. Your body is getting adjusted to everything and so is your head. Try and stay in a good place and journal. It helps, trust me.
  9. I can feel your pain. I hate to eat out with a group of people. I have not told anyone about my surgery and I know people wonder why it takes me so long to eat. I have ask my husband to eat slowly with me, and sometimes he does and sometimes he forgets. My band is tighter in the morning, so if we have to eat out the evenings are better for me. I have 7.5cc's in my 10cc band. I have to eat so slow and be so careful what I eat. I am so scared to eat salad. What do you put on yours and is it the only thing you eat. I have craved a salad so bad, but I am so afraid to eat one. I also know exactly what you mean about looking for the bathroom. I now love the seat by the bathroom. I have to go to the bathroom several times during a meal especially if I am with people. Thanks for letting me know that I am not the only one who has these problems.
  10. I had my lap band done on 10-23-2009. Before my surgery, I lost about 28 pounds. Since the surgery I am down almost 90 pounds. It has been a very big change. I think the one thing I would tell you is to prepare for the mental problems. By this I mean, your stomach is changed, not your brain. Your brain still wants to overeat and eat all the wrong things. It is hard. My family has no restrictions and I do. Most of the day I do great. I eat what I am suppose to and I stay on a schedule. I have a hard time with my band in the morning. My Doctor told me to drink a hot liquid and it would help, but I dont like coffee, tea, etc. so this is hard. I try to prime my band by drinking a lot of water before I eat and then start eating soft foods, like a banana. But let me tell you, there are times when I want to stick my face in a pizza or Japanese food or one of my old favorites. It is definately worth it at the end of the day, but this is something I did not think about pre-op. I would just like to share this with you so you can think about it. I dont want to scare you because I feel like a whole new person. I went from a 3X shirt and size 26 pants to a XL and Large shirt and I am in a size 16 pants. I still have around 50 pounds to go, but I do love my band. I just never thought about my brain not changing as fast as my body.:bored:
  11. Hello Everyone! I am post op since 10-23-2009 and so far I am doing really good. I have lost a total of 70 pounds and I have went down in my clothing sizes. When I started I was a 3X in shirts and about a 24-26 in pants. I am now wearing some 1X tops and some XL and I am wearing a size 18-20 in pants. I am really proud of myself, but I am finding as I have went through some stressful times, I am wanting to stress eat. I am working out daily and keeping with my eating plan, but I would like some suggestions on how you deal with stress eating. I am a believer that our old ways will never fully leave us, we will have to deal with them. I am in need of some advice. Please help all you bandsters.
  12. Finally, this morning I stepped on the scales and I have lost a total of 50 pounds!! I was banded on 10-23-2009 and I have tried with all my heart and soul to do this the right way. I am going to start setting mini goals for myself now that I am at my sweet spot. I am wanting to go down 10 pounds a month. Does anyone else set goals and if so, do you think mine is too much. I would lilke to be down another 50 pounds by summer. What do you fellow bandsters think!!
  13. I have a question for all you bandsters out there. I have a 10cc band and as of now, I am at 6cc's. I am feeling restriction but I am not sure if I am restricted enough. I have went through everything without throwing up and I want to keep it that way. My weight is going down, but not as fast as I would like. I return to my Doctor this week and I am sure they are going to want to do another fill. I am not sure if this is something I want. I want the best out of my band and I want to listen to my Doctor and trust her, but I always want to trust my body and not get to the point to being sick. Any thoughts from you veterans out there. Thanks for your input.

    Pretty Scared...

It sounds to me like it could also be your gall bladder. I had my gall bladder removed several years ago, but those were my symptoms. I would make an appointment with a general Doctor and see what they say. It is always good to check everything and not just blame everything on the band. I had pain in my chest and especially under my breast and it went around my side into my back. I am not a Doctor, but I can speak from personal experience that most Doctors will not check this first. Mine done every other test under the sun. Hang in there and keep us posted.
  15. I had my band on 10-23-09 and I went through the same thing. I went back to my Doctor and I needed a fill. He tld me that as the swelling goes down the more fluid you need. Even after a fill or two, your stomach adjusts to the size. I have finally hit my sweet spot. It has taken four fills. Hang in there and don't give up. If you want my advise, just go back to your Doctor, talk to them and see if it is time for another fill. Hope this helps.

    Confused?

I had my doubts about the surgery as well. I have wanted the surgery since I first learned about it but I had the same fears. I found a surgeon that I really liked and I went to the appointment. As I researched and learned about the surgery from the office, I became more comfortable. My worse fear was being put to sleep. I also have a daughter who is young and I was afraid to leave her. I can honestly say, I have not had one problem. I did everything I was told and I have not been sick, or had any problems. I am not sure your weight or BMI, but for me, I have found the surgery has been the best thing I have done for myself in years. Hope this helps.

    Regret!!

Thanks everyone for the info. I think I was just having a bad day and looking for some comfort. I lost a very close family member at Christmas and it has been hard for me. I have learned my lesson and I do not think I will ever eat pizza again. I do think I need another fill so I am going to call my Doctor tomorrow and put this behind me. Again, thanks for the info.
  18. I had my Lap Band surgery on 10/24/2009. I was doing great until the holidays hit. I have cooked and fixed all the old favorites and done really good, until I realized I could not eat anything. Then the worst part. My family had had pizza and cheesesticks on christmas Eve my whole life!! I tried to eat 1/2 a piece and I thought I was going to die. I was praying to God to help me. I am a little depressed about this. I am staying on goal, but I really thought every now and then I could have a little something. Is anyone else feeling this way. I could use someone out there to talk to that feels the same way.

    First Fillers

Ok, I had my first fill today. I had surgery on 10-23-2009 and today was my first follow up appointment. I have lost 14 pounds since my surgery. I was nervous about my fill, but it went perfect. I have the 10cc LapBand and today they put 2.5cc of fluid in. I have to go back in two weeks and if everything is ok, they will do another 2.5cc's. I would like to know how your first fills have been. My fill itself did not hurt, but I think I could feel the fluid going in the band. Has anyone else done this. Also, how much weight have you lost in the first month? My Dr. said that amount was good, but I am not sure. Any feedback with be greatly appericiated.
  20. Okay, this may sound totally stupid, but since I have started taking weight off, I have one or two spots that are itching me to death. I have put lotion on them, thinking it was dry skin. I have tried anti-itch creams. Right under my breast and in the folds of my legs where my underwear lays. Is anyone else having a problem like this, or is it in my head. HELP!! What will make it stop.
  21. I was banded on 10-23-09 and as of today I have lost 40 pounds total. I am exercising, but I am having some loose skin as of now. I have a few Christmas parties coming up and I would like to wear a sweater and I was wondering if anyone has bought any under garments that help hold you in. I would like to know what kind and if they are comfortable. Please let me know if you have any experience with this.

    Day 2 after surgery.

I had my banding on 10-23-2009 and I had the bloating and the pressure. If they went in laproscopic, then the pressure you are feeling is probably gas. They use CO2 to fill your stomach up to see your organs better. I have lived on Gas-X thin strips. They really helped me a lot and so does drinking water. Hope this information helps you.

    33 hoping to be banded

I have my surgery scheduled for October 23, 2009. I am so excited. I started at 308 and right now I am down to 286. This is the least I have weighed in a long while. I am really glad that you are doing so well post-op. I have really tried to change my lifestyle. I am still trying to find an exercise program that I like. There has been so many changes in my eating habits, that I have completely forgotten about exercise. I am starting today and I am determined to find something that I like to do and do it!! Keep in touch. You can send me a message to my personal e-mail if you like.:scared2:

    33 hoping to be banded

Hello Everyone: I am a 33 year old mother of one daughter. I have a terrific husband and four dogs that make my life crazy. I have contacted my insurance and they do not pay for anything related to weight loss or weight problems. I am going to be a self pay patient and it will take our life savings plus a loan, but I am determined to get on the right track. I went to my Seminar and I have my first appointment on Wednedsay of this week. I pray that this will help me. I am 5'8" tall and weigh 305. My BMI is 45!! I can not beleive I have let myself get to this point. I am really in need of support, so if anyone out there wants to make a good friend and give some support and get some in return, just let me know.
