How long after band can I get my hair done?
I could've got my haircut 20 minutes after surgery. Of course, I'm a guy and only have to sit for 10 minutes.

My positive attitude is absolutely sickening. I gained 7# on Sunday and am still happy :cursing: Sunday morning 207# Monday morning 214# I barely ate on Sunday, I just drank a whole lot of Bloody Marys. I think all of the sodium caused me to retain a lot of fluid. I was at the bar for 7 hours and didn't pee once. The only thing that sucks is that Tuesday is my weigh in day of teh week and I have to document 212 which is 4# heavier than last Tuesday. I am drinking a case of water a day yesterday and today trying to flush my system.

people love failure
The failure stories are good in a sense that they remind us that surgery is not a panacea. The stories about people dying also help us realize that all surgery is major, no matter how simple it may seem. On another note, you're in NYC, remind them of the people that get shot because they don't keep their big mouths shut. :cursing:

Farewell!!! I've made a decision that will change my life...
Congrats on making an informed decision and not rushing into things! The big picture is not about which surgery you have or if you have surgery at all. It is about taking steps to improve/save your life. Good luck and feel free to drop in and let us know how you make out.

Panniculectomy is it as painful to get as it is to pronounce?
Thanks and congrats!! You must have lost a "ton" of weight to require all of that work!!! I am asking this same question all over and getting the same kind of responses. It is very comforting to hear that surgery is more discomforting than painful.

Daily Calories
I do 1,200 - 1,500 a day but am not very strict about counting. I aim to burn at least 2,800 a day.

Panniculectomy is it as painful to get as it is to pronounce?
In short, nothing happens to your stomach with any plastic surgery. Your stomach is an organ that lies withing your abdominal muscles. Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) cuts the abdominal muscles and tightens them to present a firmer abdomen. A panniculectomy just cuts away the extra skin and fat from your abdomen without touching the muscles.

What appliance will you use to make your shakes??
I use a $1.99 shaker cup. Pour in the powder, fill with Water and some crushed ice. Then shake like Hell.

Anybody using the Bodybugg?
It's an armband you wear all of the time and it calculates how many calories you are burning. It's pretty damn accurate too.

PLEASE HELP ME, Is This Normal?
Please call your surgeon ASAP. Even if it is nothing bad, he can prescribe some pain killers. I had no pain but from what I've read here, most have no pain after a week, 2 at the most.

The Keys to Becoming a Successful Bandster!
I would find a nearby support group if possible. One that understood what I was going through and at the same time hold me accountable for where things go from here. I'd also take some time out to locate others that this "surgeon" may have screwed over and look for some comfort in filing a class-action suit against him or at least getting the word out to his perspective patients at how bad he is.

Why couldn't YOU lose weight without the lap band?
I can and did and am doing. I am losing the weight. The lapband is just a tool I use to keep me in check. It slaps me on the wrist when I overdo it. Sometimes it feels more like a sledge hammer than a slap but it does the trick. I lost 95 pounds between my initial consultation and surgery using an even stronger tool, a positive, can-do attitude.

Big victory for me!
Congrats!!!!!

The Keys to Becoming a Successful Bandster!
The band will not force you to exercise; make the right food choices or even eat the right amounts. What the band will do is keep you from eating too much if you maintain it properly and you make the right food choices. They rest is all on you. For instance: with no fills, you can eat as much of anything that you desire. Even with fills, you could probably eat a whole, delicious chocolate cake and wash it down with a gallon of egg nog. As for exercise, the band has nothing to do with it.

The Keys to Becoming a Successful Bandster!
Elcee, I usually agree with you 100% but I happen to be one of those people refuse to give the band any credit for my weight loss. The band is just a tool and if I wasn't using it as it was intended, it wouldn't work as prescribed. Therefore, I am doing ALL of the work.

The Keys to Becoming a Successful Bandster!
Excellent points!! Besides what has already been mentioned: Make sure you have some kind of support network to keep you honest and help you out. Whether it be family; friends; a weight loss support group or lapband support group. You can do it alone but it is so much easier with others.

Panniculectomy is it as painful to get as it is to pronounce?
Hijack all you want. 90% of the reason I am having this done is physical. It is very uncomfortable when I walk; it gets irritated and sweaty underneath. Another 5% is how I look and the last 5% is that I want to have a waist. I appreciate the answers here too. I have a pretty high threshold for pain and no problem with "discomfort". I've been 200 pounds overweight and uncomfortable for so long that I grew used to discomfort.

Please Help!!! I am desperate!!
If I couldn't drink Water, I'd be at the doctor's door the minute they opened. You do not want to become dehydrated. How much was the fill on Thursday?

Holy cow, you guys! Look at me!

Your bitching and moaning is not only hurting you, you're hurting others
I don't see it as smug and superior. I think of it as honest and direct.

Your bitching and moaning is not only hurting you, you're hurting others
As the title of the thread states. I feel those that are complaining are hurting themselves. I could just sit back and wallow in my success but I feel obligated to try and pay it forward by letting them know that changing their attitudes can and will help.

Anybody using the Bodybugg?
BUY IT!! It is worth every penny! I attribute a lot of my weight loss to it. Counting calories never made sense until I could actually compare the calories I was consuming to those I was burning. * Note: I am a geek and love numbers. That may have been a deciding factor.

Your bitching and moaning is not only hurting you, you're hurting others
The weight loss journey is not "easy" for any of us but the whole point of my original post is that I think people are making it harder on themselves by concentrating on the negative. I think that no pain should go unmentioned. All pain should be diagnosed immediately. However, hunger and the rate of weight loss are different I have not been hungry since I started this and I think a lot of that has to do with mind over matter. I tell myself over and over that I am not hungry and remind myself of my success. What you see as a relief that you are not the only one hungry, could remind others that they may be hungry after they've put it out of their heads. Shortly after my original post in this thread somebody started another thread apologizing for whining about being in pain. That was never my point.
