  1. I always heard about Adkins but really never tried it. . .that is why i was asking. . .I wonder if it would work well with the sleeve too? Whatcha think?
  2. well sweetie, yes you would be nutty to come home the day of surgery. . .as one RN to another, you know how major surgery goes . . the anesthesia alone is enough to keep you overnight. . . then you need to do the leak test the 2nd or 3rd day. . . i would want to stay in the hospital to do this test and not have to come back. . . not only that, but why would you want to come home? You do need your rest. . . good luck on your decision! I stayed the complete 3 days and boy was i glad I did . . .
  3. does the chat room work now?
  4. You know my doctor never did prescribe any sort of acid reducer for me and i've not had any kind of problems with acid reflux. . guess i'm either lucky or dumb huh????
  5. Right after surgery I was given my pain pills whole, not crushed, chewed or powdered. . .my doctor had me take my lasix, and amiloride, and pain meds whole with a sip of water or two. . . so I don't think taking your pills will be a major problem. . .
  6. If we are to get 30 g of carbs or less, how much grams of fat are we supposed to get as well?
  7. Is Adkins dangerous to do over a long period of time?
  8. I'm going to have to try this Greek yogurt. . .
  9. Yes, I was for a while there and since I suffer from low potassium, i had to go back onto my potassium supplements. . . the doctor did tell me to also increase my Water intake, so i did. . . and it's getting better. . . oh and be really careful of those bananas, they have lots of carbs! :tongue_smilie:
  10. Well I really never felt bad since day one. . . only if i ate too fast or didn't chew well. . .I'm 10 weeks out and today was amazing. . . I got up at 8 am and had the irresistable urge to do major yard work. . hoeing weeds was in my stars, man I went out there in my back yard where the thistle had grown as tall as my bbq (and I'm not kidding) and hoed them all down, I had so much energy today! Yes it hurt, but man did it feel good to be doing something so very productive! I hoed everything down, raked it and it looks good, now i just have to spray some weed killer for the small succulant weeds and then fertilize it and thats it. . . i have not been able to sit still very long today, whats going on I have no idea! But i like it. . . even went for a walk at 10:30 to pick up the mail. . . never done that before!
  11. Let me tell ya honey! I researched the sleeve for over 1 year, did the seminars and everything. . . joined this forum got all the information, thought for sure i was so ready. . . had my surgery . . . totally hated the sleeve for the first 1 week! absolutately hated it. . . i wished that they had a trial thing before you buy you know. . . it was miserable. . . couldn't drink how i used to, had to be a lady about it, couldn't eat the way i used to, had to be a lady about it, had to learn all over again. . . THEN i went to my first weigh in after 1 1/2 weeks. . . lost 32 lbs. . . wow, maybe this isn't so bad. . . continued to b . . . ch about how i couldn't eat this or that, drink this or that. . . eat and drink less then what a bird does. . . yada yada yada. . . went to weigh in at 7 weeks out . . wow lost 53Lbs. . .how cool is that. . . clothes were fitting so nicely, went from 4X to 2 - 1 XL depending on cut. . . wow . . . well now at 10 weeks out i eat whatever, mind you it's in polite portions, no longer do i eat like a damn barbarion, but like a cultured thinner person. . . the sleeve allows me to do that. . . it's not all that bad. . .sometimes i mess up and gulp a bit more poweraid then i should. . . wow does it let me know that. . . sip my dear, pinky up and sip! hehehe . . . it's a great tool. . . a pain in the arce at times, but just imagine, you can go for take out, eat a bit and have all that left over for lunches and dinners. . . no cooking. . . it's great. . . i've lived with my fat self for 47 years, be damned if i live with fatness any longer. . .this was the only way and I'm glad i did it . . . would i do it again? 13. As long as the tea is decaff it's ok, but i was like you, didn't like water at all in the beginning, couldn't get enough fluids down and would have loved to gulp a great big cold glass of plain water. . . but that wasn't going to happen, so instead i drank everything else for then . . . i'm about 10 weeks out now and can drink my 77 oz of plain water . . . not gulping mind you , but it goes down without a problem. . . hang in there it does get better . . . :thumbup1: Loser, wow man, your doing excellently on your diet! Look how much you've lost! Keep up the fantastic work. . . my weight loss has slowed down to a screeching halt. . . but that is ok, I know i'm not eating 1/2 has much as i used to and i'm doing what i should be doing. . . so whatever. . . .it'll go eventually. . . . godspeed to you!
  14. Mine costed me $15,500 that included a 3 day stay at a very private hospital, the surgeon, anestheia, 1 year of after care, monthly visits and weigh ins. . .and a doctor at my beakon call if i need him. . .a hospital only 10 minutes away in case of emergency. . . (my doctor is also the medical director of that same hospital)
  15. Sorry can't help you with that. . . I stayed close to home and had my surgery right here in San Antonio. . . don't trust those mexican countries. . .but that is my only opinion. . . good luck

Very true Pumpkin, I used to drink diet cokes like they were going out of style before my sleeve, on November 20th, 2009 I kicked all bad habits, no more diet cokes, no more high sugar snacks, no more chips, no more ice cream etc. . . guess what? I don't crave those things anymore either. . . after the surgery on Dec 29th, 2009, I have not had one craving for anything BAD. . . I'm sooo happy. . . if i do get a funky craving for "something but what" I drink sugar free grape crystals. . . that usually satisfys whatever ails me. . . good luck!
  17. Welcome and good luck on your journey!
  18. My grocery bill is about $25.00 for 2 weeks. . . not to shabby huh? I hate shopping so the clothing isn't a problem. . . as a fat girl I have all sizes in my closet from 4XL to M (have gone from 4XL to 2 - 1XL, depending on cut). . . so I have lots of clothes. . . good luck on your journey, you'll do well. . .

  20. YOU GO GIRL!!!!! I am very proud of you, you are definately an inspiration to all. . .
  21. Why do we do that to ourselves? It's amazing. . . girl that was alot of food! With the sleeve that will be totally physically impossible. . . I wish you all the best with your journey and in no time flat you'll be here on this forum giving advise to the newbies and helping out as well. . . you'll look back to this post one day and this will be your reaction !!! Keep in touch will us and see you on the sleeved side soon!
  22. Congratulations on your decision to have this surgery. . .i for one can tell you that i hated my sleeve in the beginning. . .it was a REAL bother, you can't eat how you want, you can't drink how you want, it's a pain! But when I was 1 1/2 weeks out and went for a weigh in and saw i had lost 32LBS, well that feeling of hatred went out the door. . . then when I was 7 weeks out and went for a weigh in and saw i lost 53 LBS well then for sure i didn't hate the sleeve anymore. . . i know for a fact i will be wasting money if i go to a buffet, so i don't do that. . . but you will have your cravings, you will want to eat this and that . . . but it will be physically impossible to eat AS much as you used to. . . i went out to eat for the first time yesterday to IHOP. . . i ordered a spinach and mushroom omelet. . i had about 5 bites of it, and was stuffed . . . so guess what i'm having for lunch today and supper???? You guessed it OMELET! So its' not all that bad really, i'm up to drinking my Water again, takes time of course, cause you can physically only drink about 3-4 sips at a time. . . it's a great tool and it does work, but you must get used to it and you must work with it. . . you can't go eating ice cream, milkshakes, chocolate, etc . . you have to diet and exercise. . . if you commit to that you will win the battle. . . good luck and keep us posted!
  23. Good for you! That must of felt great! I got plantar fisicititis when i got on the treadmill and am out of commission for a bit now. . . but dang it I'll get back on that thing if it kills me sooner or later!
  24. Can't help you out with this one, other then don't rush it. . . my hubbie and i have been together now 32 years. . .in the beginning we "lived in sin" for 10 years and as you can see it has worked very well. . . I didn't see the point of rushing a marriage, gotta make sure the shoe fit before i wore it for the rest of my life:biggrin0:. . . good luck. . .
