Tomorrow's the Day!
My surgery is tomorrow at 2:00. I am not too nervous yet. Since I've already had and lost the band, hopefully my nerves will stay low. My allergies decided today would be a good day to act up, so I've been sniffing and blowing all day. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow!

Picture update
If you had not told me that was a picture of you, I would have never believed it! You look FANTASTIC and your face shows how fantastic you feel.

Feeling better but down on myself today....
Theresa - the best advice I ever got with my band is to weigh only once a week. There are too many things that make our weight fluctuate on a daily basis. Remember, you didn't put it on overnight... Your body has gone through a HUGE shock and is adjusting to the surgery recovery AND the restricted intake of calories. Right now just let your body heal and I promise, the weight will come off. (All easier said then done.) You might want to keep this message and send it back to me in a week when I am where you are now! LOL!!!

Twobluecats is home
Thanks for the update Matt. Give her a gentle hug from me. Enjoyed the visit yesterday. Hope she continue to feel better. What time was she released?

Question!
I would either call and bug your surgeon's office to death or switch. You might call your other choice and ask them how long it would take to switch and how far out they schedule. My surgeon worked pretty quickly. I heard from them on a Friday that my insurance would not pay for band removal, decided I would self-pay and was de-banded the next Tuesday, just 4 days later. His office was also very good about scheduling my sleeve around my holiday break from school so I wouldn't have to miss work.

Abnormal EKG
I can't answer your question about it being a deal breaker or not. I hope it's not or that it is something easily remedied. Please keep me posted. It was good to see and talk to you today!

Congratulations Dalite! I'm glad things went so well for you. Enjoy the break from your daily routine, you will be back to it in no time.

pre-op diet... all liquids?
From what I have seen on this board, every doctor has a different pre-op diet. Mine has you do 5 slim-fast shakes or bars a day and a sensible meal. Just follow whatever he tells you to do.

December 7th!!!
Congratulations on your date and financing! The 7th well be here before you know it.

Dr. Aceves - how do we pay if complications during surgery?
Could you take a 2nd certified check? If you don't use it you should be able to put it back in your account. I'd compare the fees for that and the fees for traveler's checks.

It's a date!
I got my band off on Tuesday - WHOOP- and saw Dr. Nick today for follow-up. He had nothing but good news. The was NO erosion or scar tissue on my stomach from the band - WHOOP again! He had put a drain in as a precaution and took that out today, too. (THANK GOODNESS it was making me crazy.) Anyway - it all comes down to this - I'm getting sleeved December 22! What a great Christmas present and fantastic way to start the new year!

Will my headache ever go away?!
Thanks for all of the help. I had thought about the dehydration thing and am trying to make sure I'm drinking enough. It finally did subside today.

Will my headache ever go away?!
I had my band removed on Tuesday, YIPPEE! But now I have a headache that just won't quit. Tylenol doesn't help. I've tried protein, sugar and caffeine and those don't help either. Even the pain meds from my surgery don't help. I'm sure it is because of my post-op liquid diet but does anyone have a suggestion?:cursing:

Band to Sleeve Surgery tomorrow 11-9-09
I am glad things went well for you. I get my band out next week and then my sleeve in December. I have some issues that need to resolve between the 2 surgeries. I am having my surgery in Dallas. Who is your surgeon?

Got a date for stage one!! WOO HOO
I heard today that insurance said no, so I am moving on with the self-pay route, which was my original plan anyway. I am having my band removed Tuesday, November 17. That's 4 days from today! Talk about moving fast. That will give me 4 - 5 weeks to heal before the sleeve surgery over my Christmas break. FINALLY things are starting to move! Thanks for all of y'alls encouragement while I waited to hear from insurance.

Thrilled, scared, nervous, but I'M APPROVED!!!!
Congratulations!! I'm still waiting to hear. Let me know when you know more!

New to this in Dallas with questions and fears...
Manatee and Texas T - Thanks for the info. My original plan was to do both procedures at once and Dr. Nick said he could do it all at the same time but that would not probably be the best for me because of the concentric dilation (strech) of my stomach (pouch). The stretched part will be very thin, like an inflated balloon wall, and if it will heal and go down some after the band is removed, then I will have less risk for complications down the road. Although I am SO ready to have this done and over with, I need to do what is best for me medically. Again, thanks so much for the info!:confused1:

New to this in Dallas with questions and fears...
I enjoyed meeting both of you as well. It's nice to put real faces with names. My husband feels so much better about the whole process and surgery after attending with me last night. Since I am self-pay and a revision, I have a consult with Dr. Nick tomorrow afternoon. I will let you know how it goes. He said last night he thinks I should do this in 2 surgeries, one to remove the band and let the stomach heal and then do the sleeve later. That makes the most since, but of course will not happen as fast as I want it to. Anna
