  1. Yes, it rules, and it speaks its' own language. !
  2. Barbann, glad you made it home safe and sound. It was wise to take it slow. Every day will get better now, with a few bumps in the road here and there. Lean on your friends here and we'll help as much as we can.
  3. 5 bites is about what I can eat...I've never been able to eat a cup or more...maybe your sleeve is bigger than mine! From what I've read the sleeve cannot stretch. If you put too much in it you just vomit. I've never had that happen right after eating but others on this forum can tell you about it. I can feel when I'm full and I stop before I reach that point.
  4. I started losing hair about two weeks ago. I expect it will grow back...it's worth it, to be free of all that weight.
  5. If you can, get your three month supply of nexium before you leave. I paid 300 bucks for a three month supply here. It is about half that price in Mexico. I did not need any more Toradol (supradol), as my pain was so minimal afterwards. It was mainly esophageal spasms every time I swallowed at first...especially if I could not burp between each swallow of fluids. That was just a 5 minutes or so pain though, until the fluids went down, each time. If you have anxiety, ask about the ativan.
  6. Everyone was safe. I had another post on this.
  7. My post was a reply to Norma...she had the knee surgery. :scared0::laugh0::laugh0:
  8. Shannon, great job! It only gets better and better!
  9. I did not need the toradol pain meds, but I do recommend that you buy 3 months worth of nexium before you leave mexico. It costs 300 bucks for a three month supply here. I only bought a 2 week supply before I left Mexicali and was shocked to see what I had to pay here...and that was with insurance covering some of the cost!
  10. i'M HALFWAY THERE ON NEW YEAR'S EVE!!! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!
  11. Can't help you there...I don't have much to support! Got the "tube sock" effect going on!
  12. One of the first things I noticed was the shortness of breath disappeared and I had all my energy back, once I lost about 30 lbs. It happens very fast. Welcome to the board!
  13. Calcium, Vit D, Sublingual B12, Mvit
  14. Norma, I have always hear how painful the recovery is from TK surgery, but also hear how wonderful it is afterwards to have brand new knees that work awesomely. So I'm sure in a couple of months you'll be out dancing and smiling from ear to ear...the new you from head to toe!!! Congrats! Your "need to control" will serve to help you stick with the program and do a great job in Physical Therapy.
  15. You might want to just be prepared to leave early if you get really fatigued. During the first 2 weeks, until I was on mushies, I was extremely tired and needed a lot of naps. All of a sudden I would feel like I could not keep my eyes open. Your intake is so limited during the first 2 weeks, that it stresses the body. Listening to it and taking the rest helps healing. Just be careful, be sure to drink sips constantly so you don't get dehydrated. I took 2 weeks off and that worked best for me. I have a mostly desk job too.
  16. Research done by Dr Cirangle in LapSF showed no need for them in his practice, which has probably done more VSGs than anyone in the world. Others may be following suit. But some surgeons who want to be extra careful, or who find that the test reassures the patient, continue to do them. I was glad to have them done, myself. There are various "right" ways to do things, and I suppose this is one example.
  17. Way to go ML! You are doing great! I still have nausea some days and even the thought of sweets makes me feel kinda yucky. That helps prevent indulging in them so I am fine with it. Just remember that eating carbs or sweets can make some people crave it even more so it can be a vicious cycle! Stick with the good stuff!
  18. annearctica: A heating pad on the tummy helped me immensely when I was there. If you did not bring one, there are a bunch at the nurses station, just ask. Of course walking helped too. Isn't the hospital beautiful? Hey, are you from the South Pole, or how did you get your "name"? :001_smile:
  19. That thought crossed my mind...what would they do if surgery was in progress? Did they evacuate the hospital? The news report on Fox News said 5 hospitals in Mexicali were evacuated temporarily. I think there are many more hospitals than that in Mexicali so maybe Almater did not have to evacuate. Scarey! How are you feeling?
  20. 5.8 earthquake 20 miles from Mexicali this morning. Read more: 5.8-Magnitude Quake Rocks Mexico's Border With U.S. - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News - FOXNews.com
  21. Did you all feel the earthquake this morning? I've been thinking about you all day.
  22. OK. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? If you don't want a leak that could cost you dearly, stick with the program! We all love ya anyway. Just be good now!
  23. I believe that he uses Toradol, which is an excellent post-op pain killer...worked better than demerol for me, and no nausea/vomiting like I had with the demerol after a hysterectomy. Toradol took away my pain 100% but demerol did not. Dr Aceves also uses Toradol. It's an awesome, non-narcotic medication.
  24. Thanks Stoongal...verrrryyy interesting. makes good sense.
