  1. I was able to take cheese through without any problems. I took individually packaged cheeses and I did put it in my clear bag with my gels and liquids but I'm not sure that it was necessary. If you want to make sure, you can always just call the airline you will be flying with and ask.
  2. I take an Oh Yeah protein wafer bar. They are the best I've found, it's almost like eating a candy bar. While flying this week, I took some Babybel cheese. If I'd had some sliced turkey I would have taken that as well. You can get some protein chips or pretzels to take along if you want crunchy. If all else fails, just take your protein powder and add water or milk once you get past security or in-flight.
  3. I'm 4 weeks post-op. I lost 20 pounds in the two weeks before surgery. In the first week after surgery I lost 7 pounds and another 10 in week 2-4. Total post-op so far is about 17 (technically a little less since the scale at the Dr. office adds a few more than mine at home). I thought I'd loose more in the first weeks but I'm happy I at least lost something. I'm really looking forward to my fill in two weeks!

  5. I had surgery 10/21/2009. I am scheduled to go to the psychologist again this Friday. I'm wondering if anyone else was scheduled to go to the psychologist again post-op. I really don't feel like I need to go or that I'll gain anything by going. I only agreed to scheduling the appointment so that they wouldn't deny me surgery. Now that I've had surgery I want to stop going. I'm not depressed or on any depression medication and I'm not sure why they want me to go back. Is it because they think I will benefit from it? Or because they want more money from an "easy sell"? Any advice?

    Banded 10/22/2009

    I was banded October 21st. My surgery was at 7:30am and I was heading out the door to go home at 11:30 feeling pretty darn good. I struggled that first week with being around food, talking about food, or just thinking about food. I've been doing pretty good since I got to start mushy foods. Today is the first day I am able to eat anything I want to try again and I can't because I am having blood drawn this afternoon. I'm soooo hungry! I lost 20 pounds in the two weeks prior to surgery and have lost 17 since surgery. The last week I have been at a standstill even though I'm watching my calories and exercising almost every day. I get my first fill December 3rd, it seems like a long time to wait but I'll make it.

  8. Hi all! I was banded 10/21/09 in Kansas. It has been a pretty easy process so far aside from the awful gas pains I had that first week. I'm excited about getting healthy and thin (well maybe not thin, but at least out of the obese categories). I turn 30 tomorrow, yikes! I'll treat myself by going to the gym :wink2: What else? Hummm... I started down this road in August when I made the very difficult decision to have weight loss surgery. It snowballed from there. I went to a meeting at my surgeon's office. A few weeks later I met with the surgeon. My insurance approval came a few weeks after that! Yeah, surprised me too. I got in my visits with the psychologist. Then it was time for the longest two weeks of my life doing the pre-op diet. It was tough but I did loose 20 pounds! Surgery day came and went without any problems. Now I'm just waiting for December 3rd when I should get my first fill. I guess I am in bandster hell right now. I try to only eat 1 or 1.5 cups at each meal but I get hungry about an hour or two before it's time to eat again. I'm getting through it though, just gotta bide my time until I get fills and get some restriction going on. Good luck to everyone here, I'll be hanging out from time to time!

    Personally, I don't think the juice would be a good snack. I'd have a piece of fruit instead. For the same amount of calories you could have something that would satisfy your hunger unlike juice. For my pre-op, I had to do a two week diet consisting of a protein drink for breakfast (with or without fruit added), another for lunch, and then a lean cuisine or smart ones frozen dinner. I'd normally not put fruit in my protein drinks and have it as a mid morning snack and again as an afternoon snack. Sometimes for dinner I'd have grilled chicken with steamed veggies instead of the frozen dinner. It really wasn't bad and I went from 301 down to 281 pre-op with this diet and doing exercise too. Good luck with whatever plan you choose!
  11. Yes, you have to pay a monthly fee to be able to track your progress online with the software. I think the longer you commit to using it, the less the monthly fee is.
  12. I've had the GoWear Fit armband and display since February. I used it religiously for a few months and then didn't for a long time. I started using it again at the end of September. It is a great tool to track how many calories you are burning when exercising or even when you are just chilling and watching TV. I just got an email from them saying they are upgrading the software they use starting Tuesday. I'm excited, the software is the only thing I don't really like so hopefully it has been improved a lot. The only thing I suggest is when the armband strap wears out or falls apart, buy a few replacements at the same time so you only have to pay one shipping charge. I'm currently on my third armband strap. I stopped wearing it at night to try to cut down on the amount of wear to my last remaining strap.
