:omg: I did the liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery and it nearly drove me crazy but (1) I lost weight (2) I did not get sick after surgery and I healed very quickly and I think the liquid diet helped. The liquid diet cleanses your liver, blood and brain. Just try to get Protein the important thing is not to eat sugar. Good Luck!!!! Anniemay

Ptar! I did the same thing, I think you are just paranoid right now, it will pass as time goes on, the next day after surgery I wanted it out and could not figure out why I had it done and then I remembered "TO SAVE MY LIFE"! So don't give up, it will get better I promise you. Annie May:girl_hug:

Wild in 97 I too have the same problems you have, and I have lost about the same amount of weight in the same amount of time, but my girlfriend lost twice as much as me but she had a lot more to lose, but her skin sagged really bad so she had to spend a lot more money getting a body lift and face lift just to get rid of the extra skin, so I don't think it's worth it to lose too much in a short length of time. Julier I had my surgery in Aug. too and I can only eat meat with sauce or gravy on it and mainly soft foods. I worry about the long run of eating greasy meat and stuff since it causes heart trouble but the way I was before was no better, I was headed for diabetes. Anniemay

My fills are $200 and my doctor had her surgery in Mexico, that is with the flouro included. She is in College Station, Tx.

My band is a 9.75cm. I have had 2 fills since surgery in Aug. and I have lost about 20lbs. not a whole lot but at least I'm not gaining. I didn't gain it overnight and I have always been a slow loser. I can only eat soup and cottage cheese and fruit out of a can, and sometimes scrambled eggs. I have trouble keeping it down too, but I am not going to get it unfilled because with the first fill she took some back out and 2 weeks later I couldn't feel the restriction, I hope this one lasts a lot longer. I know I am not hungry all the time now, but I still have the cravings. The only thing I can't figure out is my nerves are much worse now! Have you had that problem? Anniemay:hungry:

BJean & DonnaGT Please don't give up, I am a very slow loser, 2 weeks after the first fill I didn't feel any restriction but now after the 2nd. fill I can really tell now. Sometimes it just takes more fills and time. Two things really make a big difference..........water and walking, also I try to stick to the South Beach Diet and almost no eating out. Although with this last fill I am not able to eat much meat at all, mainly soup. Reread your rules they gave you and try to follow as best you can, I know it's still very hard but at least you still have the tool to help. Talk to your dr. again and see what he says. Pinky, Have you been tested for sleep apnea, I was shocked when I found out I had it, because I am overweight but not huge. I had symtoms of fatigue tiredness, body aches, my bloodwork checked out ok so dr. sent me to rheumetoidologist (sp.) and sure enough I have it, my Dad had it and I have a brother and sister with it. The weight gain comes along with it because you do not feel like doing anything and when you do it makes you tired. I have a CPAP machine but I pull the mask off every night cause I hate it. I am going to look into surgery that is supposed to correct it. Anniemay

Mtred, I doubt it, cause errosion I believe, starts from the outside of the stomach. As for drinking pepto bismol or any of those things, I'm not sure that's a good idea before surgery because those interfere with your natural stomach acids and too much of anything unatural is not good. Check with the dr. Anniemay

PamRN, My port sets about 1in. above my waist, I think this is abnormal, it has always set low, I can remember feeling it everytime I bent over when I first came home from surgery, my girlfriends sets much higher. I do not have redness or brusing, so I will watch for it, I am going for another fill, I will find out then. Thanks...........Anniemay

Pam, How do you know whether it has slipped or you have errosion? I was banded in Aug. and my port is very low and I fill no restriction. I have had 1 fill in Oct. I am surprized they gave you a fill when you had your band put it, I was told my band had no restriction at first but maybe the girl in Mexico in charge was wrong. Also, I am beginning to feel a little soreness around the port. Anniemay

Absolutely, they shouldn't just guess at it, besides you need a flouro to make sure you didn't get filled too much because sometimes they have to take some back out if you don't swallow the chalky stuff down very gook.

Have you lost all of your weight since April of this year, because if you have thats great, I've only had 1 fill and don't feel my restriction now at all. I am losing very very slow. Don't know why. Anniemay

Well, it is your business and you don't have to tell him if you don't want to, if you do, get ready for everybody to find out because people can't help but spread gossip. So if that doesn't bother you, go ahead .......... tell him you did it for your health, because you want to stick around longer and not have all the health problems that come along with obesity. I am sure they will understand. When I tell my doctors, they always say "well good for you"! ANNIEMAY

You just need to give it more time, it will loosen up, just remember to eat small portions till you feel you can handle the fish or whatever. Anniemay:o

Sounds to me like your fill was too tight, I know when I got my fill they flouroscoped me and when I swallowed the chalky stuff it wouldn't go down all the way, they said it was too much and took some back out. I only have 1:6cc but think I could have used more, cause I need another now. Anniemay:omg:

Well they told me no larger than the top part of your hand and after your first fill, no bites larger than your fingernail. I know I tried to eat a tortilla and thought I was going to die, I'll never try that again. Just make sure your bites are very small............Anniemay

Does anyone know what causes you to need a fill 2 or 3 weeks after the last one? What happens to the fluid, does it leak out? I don't understand why you need another so soon, especially since they are so expensive. Is it caused from eating too large a meal or what? I would just like to know. Anniemay
