  1. I made it to Onderland today! Whooo Hooo! This was my new years goal. It just took me a few days longer, but I made it! FEELS GREAT! I am doing the happy dance today!:cursing: Change that ticker! 49 more pounds to go!:cursing::cursing:
  2. sweet spot for you? It does get better. Without the "real hunger", the head hunger gets better after awhile.
  3. One of the lapband rules I was given is "no pasta." Even without the rule, with a tight band (at sweet spot), I have a very hard time eating any type of noodles/pasta. When I am so limited with the amount of food I can eat at one time, I try to choose more nutritional stuff if I can.
  4. Has anyone tried foltene shampoo? I've tried everything else people have talked about here at LBT with no results.
  5. I am guilty of this. I look at "new posts", find one that I want to reply to, and then oops! I just posted in the men's room! I don't know why I just can't stay out of the men's room. LOL:blush:
  6. now that one doesn't sound too bad with the yogurt I got. I'll try it
  7. Congrats on entering Onderland! It must feel so good! It sounds like you did a little more than a happy dance ! LOL! Naked happy dance ? I hope to join you in Onderland very soon. I am at 201.0 now !

Thank you for your comments and support. Seeing the pictures ....before = thin, beautiful, young and after = obese, older, really triggered my mid-life crisis ! I do feel very good about getting banded and my progress so far. I also feel great about my other life accomplishments over the years. I have come a very long way over these 45 years. This weightloss and lapband journey is just my most recent journey. Thanks again. I really enjoy LBT.
  9. Patty, even you said it was not a "real baby" in the video. I don't doubt for a minute that late term abortions could be difficult and not something I would want to watch or participate in. But, of all the abortions I've talked about with girls/women I personally know (10), none were even close to that. They didn't even have to take their clothes off at the Dr.'s office. They were given a Rx which induced a period .... that's it. IF A 14 YEAR OLD GIRL HAS BEEN RAPED AND A PREGNANCY IS THE RESULT OF THAT RAPE, THANK GOD SHE CAN GO TAKE A PILL AND ABORT.
  10. I think you will do great. At that moment it will be a beautiful thing. A wanted and loved baby entering the world is a beautiful thing. I'm still pro-choice
  11. I drink coffee pretty much every morning. My surgeon and NUT are ok with coffee and tea. As far as other weight loss stuff like alli, there is really no need for it. The band works well on it's own. Of course the food choices you make will slow or speed up weight loss. Eating healthier choices of food like you are on a diet works very good. Exercise speeds things up too.
  12. I am sorry, but I will not be much help for you. I am only 6 months post-op and already feeling the way you just posted. I am not eating sweets, but having the problem with Protein and food being unappealing. I hope others reply and we can both learn from it. And Welcome to LBT
  13. Yes, clothes are a big motivation for me. Over the years as I have gained weight, I did not get rid of my clothes. I had always hoped I would take the weight off and ba able to wear them again. It is a slow process, but I have been getting down to the smaller sizes. I do not like the clothes at the plus size stores. They all look like house coats that fat old ladies wear. I make mini goals by setting out, or bringing to the front of the closet, the next pants I want to fit in. One of these days I might be able to break out the "skinny jeans" I have tucked away in a drawer.

I have never even thought about writing a blog, but here I am. I am 6 months post op today. I have lost 63 lbs and am very excited and happy about that. At this point I am very happy I chose to be banded. When I first joined LBT, I did it to learn and to chit chat with other bandsters. I figured I would NEVER post a picture of myself for several reasons. I did not take a picture of myself at my highest weight and I did not take measurements. I was too disgusted with the way I looked and how big I was. I just want to take off the weight and never look back. I never want to see a picture of myself in that condition and I do not want other people looking at me in that condition. Even at my thinest I have never thought I was very photogenic. I would always pick at flaws in pictures ..... my hair was flat, my eyes were red, my belly roll shows, my skin looks blotchy, I had a zit, I'm not pretty............ Well, yesterday I was looking through some pics I had on the computer. There was a pic of me standing with some family mambers in the fall 2008. I almost started crying. OMG! I looked VERY OBESE! Not only was my hair and skin bad, I was HUGE! I looked so ugly! I could never post that picture for even my fellow bansters who understand to see. Then I saw a picture of me in 1991. I was not at my thinest adult weight (135#) , but wasn't too bad at 155 #. OMG. I was so beautiful ! I was HOT! Of course I was also 26 years old, but even back then I thought I was not very photogenic. My God, what have I done to myself? Many years have gone by and there have been many ups and downs over the years. There have been illnesses, surgeries, stresses and tragidies. I seldomly put myself first. I have been on many diets ... yo-yo. I let myself become morbidly obese. Even with the great weight loss I have today, I feel very ugly and very obese and very old. Not a positive blog, but the truth about how I feel.

  16. this is exactly what I mean when I say it sometimes does seem like a magic wand
  17. I went back and read it. You gave good advise and were very nice about it. Even though you have not been banded yet, I know you have done much research. I have a hard time understanding those posts where people have been banded for a very long time and have lost little or no weight. Something must be wrong. They must be doing something wrong or must have a medical condition or something? I can only speak from my own experience and what I have read and what my surgeon has told me. My own experience is that the band does work and the weight does come off.
  18. I agree that it is a good post and really makes you/ me think. I'm just saying that in some ways, the band has been like a magic wand for me. I do not think it is the easy way out. It was taking very drastic measures for me. I hate surgery. This is the 4th surgery for me and the general anesthesia messes with me worse every time. I don't skip breakfast by choice. The band does that to me. Mine is very tight in the mornings. I drink a cup of coffee while I get ready for work and on the way to work I drink a protein shake. Before the band my breakfast choices were bad ones. I would get a sausage mcmuffin with egg maybe hash browns. Now there is no way I could eat that. I agree with the water thing. I have never been good at drinking water and am making an effort to drink more. Giving up all or most of the foods I have enjoyed over the years is not easy in any way. Cooking the big feast at Thanksgiving and only being able to eat a tiny bit was not easy, but the band gave me no choice.
  19. Sad but true ..... I am a VERY BAD BIRD! I do not drink plenty of Water. VERY BAD The band does make my food choices for me in many cases. With the band I can not eat burgers and fries or pizza. Even a couple bites and I will be in pain and can not eat again for hours. So the band makes me choose other things. Magic! The only choices I have to make involve things like icecream. The band DOES make me eat only 3 meals a day. Magical Tool! Infact sometimes only lunch and dinner if a Protein shake doesn't count for Breakfast. I eat a small lunch, chili for example, then there is no way I can eat anything more until dinner time. Magical Tool ! I do not exercise. VERY BAD BIRD ! I have lost 63 lbs in 6 months with no exercise. MAGIC !!!
  20. In the case of the beautiful young woman that BJean told us about, I would not have considered that an abortion in my mind. I know it would be technically, but it just seems so different to me. There are those who don't use birth control methods, or the methods they use fail. They get pregnant. Some choose to abort the pregnancy early on when all you have to do is take an oral Rx and it induces a sort of period. ( I agree and support in this case) There are those who have later term abortions ....... I may not agree with some of those. But in the case of this young couple who were expecting twins, I think the husband/daddy made the wrong choice. With the choice he made, he chose death of 3.
  21. I agree with you to a point. But ....... The band and the fills have been pretty magical for me. I have dropped over 60 lbs with this magic wand that I never would have dropped without it. Of course I don't live on ice cream and cookies, but that isn't really "work". It's a magic measuring cup for me. I don't measure anything. I can not drink and make solid food push through my band. I have had my problems with it, but overall it's pretty magical to me and I love it !
  22. I have one incision that is 1 inch long in the center of my torso about 1 1/2" below the bottom of my sternum. My port is located just below and a little to the left of that incision. The other 4 incisions are just puncture spots. None of them are anywhere close to my belly button. All are fading well.
  23. I am a Dental Hygienist. (my 2nd career) love it!
  24. yes, I guess being fat has taken a toll on my self esteem, but not a real big toll. In general it makes me feel bad about the way I look. It does not make me feel bad about the person I am.
  25. I have seen in many posts that many of my fellow bansters love greek yogurt. This morning I read that someone loves greek yogurt with sugar free preserves in it. Today I am really feeling true malnutrition, so when I was out and about I got some. It tastes so very bad. What am I doing wrong? Now I have a big container of greek yogurt that is going to be thrown away like much of the food I try lately. :tt1:
