  1. Just be really careful if you do start to put a little bit of weight on for it. I was 240 and needed to be 250 for my height...and so I thought I'd gain a little weight. Weeellll...that didn't work so well because I didn't monitor it well and I gained about 20#! Whoops.
  2. Wow, I've searched for months for feedback about him bc I was told that is who and where I have to go through bc of my insurance. I haven't met him yet; in fact, my last appointment with my regular MD for my 3 month program was just yesterday! so my info is now only being faxed in to insurance as we speak.
  3. I Omg I'm the same way... I'm always hoping I'm not THE fattest person in a group or room...blah!
  4. Txcloverangel...good luck...I'm so excited for you!! Let me know how it goes with the approval! I have aetna, too, and I have 3 weeks left before my 3 month jump through the hoops act is done! I thought 3 months would never get here fast enough, and now it is only 3 weeks out!
  5. Is the out of pocket costs for the actual surgery all paid upfront before surgery? Mine is about $1200 out of pocket but am not sure when I have that due yet.
  6. Thank you guys for your information...definitely helping to calm my nerves! Have any of you got your surgery date yet? I'm still on cloud 9 knowing there is a light at the end of the tunnel, even with all the lifestyle changes that are going to have to take place. :blushing: I've got all my ducks in a row, and just waiting for my last appointment with my dr next month, and then it's just a week or two of waiting for a final answer! Good luck to everyone!
  7. Thanks so much for your info! I've completed 2 of my 3 months, and gained in both of those, but now I've stopped gaining. I'm DETERMINED I AM going to lose it before my last appointment 10.09.09! Congrats on being approved; I can't wait to know what that feels like! Do you know when you're being banded yet?
  8. Your MD is who writes the preauth letter. // I'm certainly no expert, and haven't been approved 100% yet (I'm still in my 3 month pre-op), but I would think your having a history of high blood pressure would count. Have you talked to your dr. yet? good luck!
  9. I am starting my third month today required for approval from aetna...unfortunately I have actually gained weight during this time. Does anyone know from experience if I would get denied if my md, nutritionist, and psychologist all gave me the green light? I know I wouldn't have been denied if I lost weight, but I didnt ask about gaining it, as I never expected that to happen. :blushing: And if I do get approved, how long does it take to get a surgery date? If anyone knows any of this, thank you in advance....I'm so nervous!
  10. I have aetna, and I was told aetna is one of the better companies to have. I agree 100% so far. I was nervous bec of all the bad hype on here about aetna, but SO FAR my journey has been super smooth! I have 1 month left of my 3 month multidisciplinary program. I do wonder, though, if anyone knows...when I first looked into this, my bmi was 38, but over the course of the summer, I've actually gained weight and now my bmi is 40...could I be denied bc of that? I'm really freaking out about that...
  11. I had an appt at a weight loss surgicial center to see if banding was the way I wanted to go on 06/11, and their office approved me. Aetna tells me theres no precert. dept I have to talk to; that I'll get a phone call from the office or Aetna once I'm approved or denied. That's fine, but they also told me they cant see anything about it until its approved or denied-that they don't have access to see it...Has anyone else heard this? I don't know if I can wait another 3 weeks to hear back! No one at Aetna can tell me anything and it's driving me crazy...
