  4. My diet for 2 weeks after surgery is this: Weeks 1 and 2 post-op: Thin liquids. Any liquids that could be sipped through a straw are considered "thin liquids". (Do not use a straw, however. this can lead to swallowed air, and discomfort.) No Jello. No Vitamins for these 2 weeks. Typical day: Breakfast 1 cup coffee 1 Protein shake lunch 1/2 Protein Shake 1 cup broth dinner 1/2 protein shake 1/2 cup tomato Soup I've also been drinking a lot of green tea. It's naturally caffeine free, and I love the taste. Weeks 3 and 4 post-op are pureed foods. I plan to live on applesauce and mashed potatoes
  5. Hey LL67, I have a problem with most narcotics, and was VERY vocal about it. I can't take morphine, demerol or codeine... they all make me vomit. I told them the only pain-killer that I've ever been able to tolerate is Vicodin. My doctor prescribed Hycet, which is liquid Vicodin (Vicodin = Hydrocodone + Acetominophen) If the codeine isn't working for you, ask for Hycet.... it's made a WORLD of difference for me. I don't get queasy, which is very important, it takes away my pain, and it doesn't make me loopy. Oh....my script calls for 3 teaspoons every 4 hours. Good luck! Karen

  15. Today is Monday, and I'm feeling great!! Finally pooped this morning (I know... I know... TMI!) I've been taking 2 TBS of Milk of Mag each morning, so I guess it finally kicked in! The liquid vicodin is every 4 hours/7 days. I'm still taking it, though I doubt I need it. Why question authority (hee hee)?? It's the only narcotic that I've ever been able to tolerate, so my doctors were happy to prescribe one that wasn't going to make me sick. Over the years, with c-sections and stuff, I've taken it all... Morphine, Demerol, Percocet, etc. They all make me vomit. It was actually my dentist that found that Vicodin was the one for me! I'm up and running.... not doing any lifting, or anything strenuous, but I'm back to work (I work part time from home.... depending on how much work I have that week, I can work 10-90 hours in a week... hardly part-time... but that's generally during Oct-January) Feeling great, and looking forward to getting a fill in this band of mine!! TTYS! Karen
