  1. They only asked u to do it for 3 days anyway - if they were REALLY after that maybe they would have asked for more days like you hear some doing this for 2 weeks. Everyone is different so hard for me to speak to your docs goals. I have fatty liver so I really had to listen to them. Anyway just stay on it the rest of the time and try to limit ur carbs. Sorry I thought you were still thinking about it Didn't realize you already did eat the meal. You will be fine. Good luck on the surgery!
  2. Gatorgirl you are in for the home stretch stick w/ the diet. I had to do it for two weeks and the reason they do it is to shrink your liver. It takes about 3 days to deplete your glycogen stores then your body lives off fat and muscle. If you carb up now it may take longer to deplete that. I would be on liquid protein diet for 24 days if you count the 10 days after surgery as well. I have lost 16.2 lbs so far - gotta love protein only diets its about the only thing I can metabolize normal. I have PCOS as well.
  3. No I haven't. Not that this helps you but I didn't want to ignore it. Good that you called your doctor... did he/she say if its due to the anesthesia? I was part of a trial and this is one of the questions in the study -if I am having any dry heaves. They told me this can happen up to 3 days later - nausea and I assume dry heaves if it is in the questionairre for an anti nausea drug to alleviate the nausea that occurs from anesthesia. Hope you feel better soon! Keep us posted.
  4. Hi Stardustic - I have my follow up on Friday. First fill I think for me is 3-4 weeks later. I think I may be starting to get hungry. I had 4 Protein Shakes today (unjury) and water and broth. I think my nausea was not bad due to the trial drugs I'm glad I did that. They told me I could shower - first there was water proofing covering the wounds they told me to take that off on Sunday - and now I have steristrips which are the equivalent of stitches I have two incisions only. One at my sternum and one at my belly button. I was taking pain meds up to last night. I don't think i need them anymore. I think you are ahead of me in the pain scale ie less when do you go on mushies I think its monday for me.
  5. Hi did they actually say that all this happened from a stuck pill? Or was it a freak thing? They told me i can take pills smaller than an M&M
  6. Hi Stardustic - I did not realize we had the same time too Funny! I didn't have the hiatal hernia they explained that to me and how the whole thing relates to the diaphragm and why it is necessary but my surgery took an hour so I'm guessing that is why it was shorter. Did they give you ANY anti nausea meds? For me it must have been the trial as last time I had the general i felt like crap. And I remember that as the worst thing about the surgery as well for the last surgery I did 15 years ago! And dizzy too. My first words when I came out was 'great anesthesia' - I was looking for the anesthesiologist to thank him!! They must be used to hearing all sorts of things. I think I was saying 'where are the anesthesia people tell them thank you' or something silly like that  I haven't had a bm either (Until this morning!! YAY!!). My instructions said I can take Colace liquid - among other things, I couldn't find the liquid and the pill looked too large (they said the size of an M&M is a benchmark). so i bit into it - UGH do not do that! I am also taking benefiber veggie tablets 2 a day chewables. I am not hungry and I was sipping liquids but taking closer to normal swallows now. I may feel the urge to burp when I drink I think that is the restriction so if so I slow down. i still have a bit of gas pain when I burp i feel it on the left shoulder. I have been walking 1.5 to 2 miles a day starting the day after surgery. My muscle pain from the anesthetic was worse than my incisions - my friend told me they use a certain drug to relax you when they intubate you and some people can get this overall muscle soreness as if they had an intense workout and that happened to me. Bad enough my abs and diaphragm are short but everything else was too making it hard to even turn over in bed or get in and out of bed. Better now though.
  7. the mental hunger is a big thing that is very real. While on liquid do you know how many times I stopped myself from reaching for a choc covered pretzel or other stuff at work? Just out of habit. Good luck on the surgery I think it is today!!
  8. Guys its not so much the food that is a problem but you don't want to make yourselves sick. Take it slow its probably only a week to two away that you can eat the food but I don't mean to lecture but for me the risk of a band slippage or erosion is too real to take chances w/ 'overtaxing' the band w/ too much food. I'm sorry if that is coming across as a mom or teacher but I have good intentions and your well beings at heart You have come this far - you can do the extra time that it takes to go to normal food.
  9. what does it feel like when u are full? what is dumping i thought that was only for bypass?
  10. Hi I had my surgery yesterday. I got there late 11 am they took me in after all the paperwork, etc at 2pm. I went home at 10 pm. I agreed to a trial drug for the nausea that they use for chemotherapy as he last time i had general anesthesia I was very dizzy and nauseous. I am GLAD i did it. I came out alert was dozing but didn't have that knocked out feeling.... and NO nausea at all! I too am very sore in my muscles my frd's hubby who is an anesthesiologist said its caused by one of the anesthetics that make ur muscles twitch while we are under. I got some fill but I can't tell if I feel constriction. I am not hungry but that is probably due to feeling bloated and pain. I am on full liquids for the next 10 days. I was on liquids for 2 weeks prior to this but I was allowed two cups of veggies.
  11. Hi Megan - I had surgery yesterday.. I'm sore but other than that feel good - I am not nauseous and have energy. Today I went for a 1.5 mile walk. The left shoulder pain has gone now. BUt my whole body is sore like I worked out even my legs. I can understand my abs and all. My friends husband is an anesthesiologist and he says the anesthesia does that. I had a great drug to prevent nausea it was a study and i felt great after.
  12. Hi coloradomom- doing ok. I just weighed myself this is my first day after surgery and I am up 3 lbs! So that must be the water weight and bloatiness after the surgery. I mean yesterday I ate NOTHING and today 3 protein shakes.
  13. I can't tell yet - I am drinking things very slowly - i feel full but I am only a day out so it could just be pain. I did get some fill but I don't know how much. I feel bloated more than anything.
  14. We are right around the same BMI and weight loss. I lost about 14 in two weeks - just had the surgery yesterday. I did this crazy high protein diet 20 years ago and lost a lot of weight and it stayed off quite a while. you take your weight multiply it by 10 that is what you need to maintain your weight. Then you take the calories your eating and to lose a lb of fat you need to deficit 3500 cals. So i was about 240 - if I eat 700 cals a day - I will lose about 3.5 lbs a week. But I lost about 14 in two - so I will expect to not lose till that number is right or made up. So by week three using that formula I should have lost nearly 12 lbs. They explained it to me that way back then and that is what happened. Some of it is the initial water but then your fat loss catches up even though u aren't losing. you are right on track it sounds like.
  15. Stardustic - we got banded the same day. Mine started at 2 pm and I left by 10 pm. I was not nauseous at ALL! I am Soooo shocked. I had general anesthesia before and it was a misery. I was dizzy and nauseous it was horrible. Before going into the OR as we were getting ready w/ forms etc... a research team came in and they told me about a drug they are researching FDA approved that helps w/ the nausea. I immediately said sign me up. I don't know if that is why but I had none whatsoever. How groggy were you when you came out and do you know how long your surgery lasted? I was under for an hour. I got the Lap Band (Doc picked) and she did do some fill but I don't know how much - I didn't ask. I can't tell if I feel any constriction or what is what everything is sore. But not too bad with the Lortab and I'm up and about walking.
  16. Ok I'm on my way in - thanks for the wishes. I'm down 14 lbs since the liquid diet (all protein, 2 cups veggies no more than 35 grams of fat). Love those liquid diets did one 20 years ago but they are not easy. My incentive this time is fear of my liver not shrinking- I know for a fact I have fatty liver! I'll post when I am back.
  17. Don't worry some of it is going to be water weight because of the liquid diet that when you go on to solids especially if you are eating carbs will come back usually 4 lbs.

  19. I'm right after you - sep 11 - good luck tomorrow! I'm excited not nervous (yet)
  20. Glad you are ok!!! I have a horse and ride regularly and occasionally I do fall off (gone 7 years w/o a fall and lately I have had 3 in one year). I specifically asked this question of the Dr because hey your falling on the ground from a height and this was my fear. She said to me often people who have accidents have asked this but its rare to have a problem - she said if you have a problem you will know it. Can I ask how quickly you acted once you felt you weren't keeping anything down? Is there anything we can learn from that - ie. if you have any impacts and ur not keeping anything down - don't wait go to ER immediately. Or your doctor. ????
  21. Everyone's diet is different on the protein liquids but watch the fat on the creamy soups. I am not allowed anything but protein shakes and 2 cups of veggies. fat should not be over 35 grams. I have been told to only drink skim milk for milk in my protein shake.
  22. Are you guys on codeine? IF so it constipates you.
  23. Drink a ton of Water it MUST be over 8 cups I have like a gallon a day no exxageration on some days (just always have a big water bottle at my desk). Limit caffeine to two cups so you don't dehydrate. Your not eating any carbs I assume? It can be that too - my headache started around day 3 to 4, for two days, then went away now I am on day 7. I think because your body doesn't have anything to burn and its supposed to burn the fat.
  24. Its not so bad I agree, but i am trying to figure out why 'bandster hell' is worse because a) you are in pain and must have SOME constriction compared to now  you can eat a bit more (unless those in bandster hell didn't have to do 2 weeks of Protein shakes). I like
