  1. Hi all! I was banded on June 12th with a 14 cc band. Practically the same same as Donna!) I have had one fill so far and my next one next Wednesday. I haven't had much restriction and haven't really had any trouble with any food as long as I make sure it's super moist and not too dry. Kind of looking forward to the next fill b/c I think I have been overdoing it some although no where near what I used to eat but def getting into some grazing tendencies.... which is not good but hope that will stop once I get the full feeling. Good Luck and I look forward to seeing the comments posted on this board. Thanks Barbie!
  2. Hi all! I am in Lakewood (Ocean County) NJ and I started out at Atlanticare with Dr. O but when SOCH opened their doors I switched and so glad I did. Dr. Reich and his office staff are so great! I had my surgery June 12th and am going for my first fill this Thursday 7/23. Little nervous but glad it's time. Good Luck everyone!
  3. my experience (overall) was really good. it went by so quickly, that i was home before i knew it. i actually wanted to stay longer b/c i felt so well taken care. I had my surgery on a Friday and went home Saturday afternoon after I had my barium swallow and voided. with that said, my only bad experience was that i couldn't void. i was told that the anethesia can give you a lazy bladder. well let me tell you, it sucked. after trying to pee 3 diff times, i had to get a catheter. other than that i had a morphine drip that i def pushed the button as much as i possibly could. i also got a couple heprin shots to avoid blood clots. but it was a really smooth process from admitting, getting the IV, wheeling back into the OR, scootching over to the table and then all of a sudden i was in recover where i dosed on and off for a couple of hours before going up to a private room. hope this helps... good luck!!!
  4. in response to Brendac, I was banded on July 12th 09. I was good with the resting and stuff while I was off work but once I went back and back to somewhat normal activity, I am very tired. My doc keeps assuring me it's normal and your body is just adjusting to just having major abdominal surgery. I am also in that 'hell'. I am trying really hard to avoid all things 'bad' and sticking to the purreed foods but i don't know how long I will hold out. I am glad that I am not the only one. And makes me feel a little better to know if I break (like cookie dought), I can get back on track and learn from it. Thanks all!
  5. natural smooth peanut butter is on my approved pureed list. i asked the nutritionist about the sticky factor and she said to just try it slow. i haven't tried it out yet b/c i have a tendency to OD on it as its one of my triggers. but as long as it's within your food amount limits, my doc gives it the ok.
  6. hi all! i have been using nectar - chocolate truffle. i am also using isopure vanilla with a tiny teaspoon of sugar free de caff general mills int'l cafe mocha with milk. super yummy (for protein shakes). also i like the unjury chicken soup protein mix. u can also warm it up. it really doens't taste that bad. just don't smell it, as i found with most protein shakes i tried. good luck all!
  7. oh i am getting these too. i am glad i am not the only one. it's like i yawn, get pain in the left shoulder then burp. it's so weird. but i only had my surgery on friday so i am taking the weird as just recovery for now. but misery loves company!
  8. wow, this is such a great place to share info. i can go on pureed foods for weeks 2 to 6. but knowing my fear and the burps i have been having i will be going slow (similar to the pre-op diet). i have been putting sugar free syrups (vitalady.com) in the shakes to help.
  9. Hi All, I am in the same boat. I was just banded this past Friday and the gas pains in the shoulder suck! I have been burping when I drink anything too. But from reading around, it looks normal. Which reassures me. I hoping it will pass before I progress to eating pureed foods as i am still on the liquid diet. All my best.
