December Delights 2009
When I decided to have surgery it was because I was tired of doing diets and watching what I eat. I have never been good at it so I thought this would be my best answer. I know the nutritionists tell me not to eat this and that, but I don't count my calories or watch my fat intake. I'm amazed to see how well everyone else is doing at this. I haven't felt any restriction yet and eat exactly like I did prior to surgery. Am I crazy? Will I never lose weight if I don't start watching my intake? I really don't want to do it. I thought maybe when I got skinny I would have more of a desire to stay that way and watch it then. Does everyone watch what they eat?

I haven't been stuck, but I really don't feel any restriction yet either. Do you feel like you have any restriction?

You're lucky your doc. lets you decide when to get the next fill. I was banded 2 days before you and only have one fill. I have to wait a month in between each fill. Not sure of the reasoning behind that but good luck to you on March 2nd. I know as well that it's frustrating not losing.

Well, I've gained 5lbs this week. It is so frustrating that I have to wait 2 more weeks (4 total)before my second fill. I even called the Dr. and told them I was gaining and asked if I could get a fill sooner ....no luck. I have 3cc's in my band. I hope they'll be a little less stingy next time. Frustrated!!!!!

I know I should know this, but what are complex carbs?

How much time did you all have between the first fill and the second fill? My doc is having me wait 4 weeks, but that seems like an etertnity since I am still eating so much!

I got my first fill today! It wasn't too bad. I told him about the person on here who had 7 attempts fail and went back the next day for a few more misses and that I didn't want to be like that. I must not have made him too nervouse since he got it on the first try. I'm hoping this 3cc's will curb my hunger a little until my next fill in 4 weeks! It seems like so long to wait.

I have minimal pain around the port, and am still nervous about bending too much since I feel it more then.

funny story................ Before my surgery I took some "before" pics of myself in my sports bra and underwear (I didn't have a bikini!). Not the prettiest sight. Unfortunately I haven't had time to print one out and delete them off my computer. So....the other day I hear my 7 year old twin daughers and their friend trying to repress laughs. When I went to see what's so funny, there my pictures are on a screen saver slideshow on my computer!!!! How embarrasing!!!

I keep thinking about my band too and wondering if I should've done the bypass. It scared me, but now I have so much follow up work/care with the band that I'm not sure what's better. Oh well...it's done now so I'll make the best of it right!

Hunger has set in and so has my sweet tooth. I was hoping to be over the sugar thing, but now that I'm hungry all the time, I also crave sugar again. I can't wait for my fill!

December Delights 2009
RIGHT ON!!! I feel the same. I haven't lost a lot since surgery, but I know I'll lose more once I have restriction.

O.K. Viv, are you sure you're not starving yourself? You only eat 600 calories but burn up to 350 of that off!?!?! How do you survive? That's soooo little. I don't keep track of my intake, but I'm sure it's closer to 900 calories and I only walk about 100 off. You're Strong.

Terri....that is fantastic news!!! I know you must have been really relieved to hear that. What antacid are you on now? Just wondering since I still have some heartburn.

I was told I COULD do milk.

December Delights 2009
Well my heartburn is much better this week (almost gone)...yea! Now I just have to deal with hunger until my first fill on Feb. 4th. Has anyone tried veggie chips? I just thought of them and wondered if they are really healthy at all and if we can eat them.

Natalie, I noticed that when I wrote down how many calories I was eating I ended up losing more. BUT... I really wouldn't get upset about losing right now. You haven't had a fill and 7 pounds is acutally great! I'm nervous that I'll be gaining this month until my fill , but I know it will all come off once I get it. Hang in there you're doing great.

Speaking of scars....when can we start applying creams to them? And does anyone know of a good cream to use? Just thinking about that lately.

December Delights 2009
Hi everyone, Thanks for your concerns. He put me on pepcid complete for a week to see if it goes away. If not then I need to check back with him next week. I asked if he see patients having heartburn very often and he said it's rare (of course!). Anyway, I'm hoping this will help. The good news is that I get to go to mushies tomorrow!!! can't wait to eat again.
