Tricare approval VIBES please....
I think you are definately getting the run around, because when I called Tricare to see if it was even worth my time, the lady said she didn't see a problem and my doctor said Tricare is one of the easiest approvals. I have a BMI of almost 46, probably need to lose 130 lbs and am one of the healthiest unhealthy people you've ever met because I also have no co-morbidities. However, my gramma has type 2 diabetes, my dad has high cholesterol. I keep telling my doc I don't have any health problems...YET.... and thats what he is gonna tell Tricare too, lol Keep us posted... Good luck and good ju ju to you!

I Know I Am Not the only one.....
I have not been banded yet, but I couldn't resist sharing my thoughts. Diets are great, when followed to help us lose weight. The problem with getting on a diet is eventually you get off of it too. I probably will end up with second thoughts as well. But I can honestly say I excited for the day that I can eat without feeling guilty if I make a bad food choice. Even happier for being able to eat say half a donut instead of the whole dozen (I have never really done that, but you get the point.) I guess what I am saying, is I want to control the food I eat, not the food control me.... That being said, this is a very personal choice. But I would say you shouldn't move forward to surgery without being 100% sure this is what you want... Lori

Does anyone use a Wii Fit??
I want the my fitness coach to. I homeschool all three of my kids, so having the ability to steal 10-15 minutes here and there for a workout is much easier than finding an hour or two during the day...

Does anyone use a Wii Fit??
DH just brought me a Wii Fit and I love it!!!!!!! I was wondering if anyone else uses it as a part of their work out routine, how long, etc? I know it can't be the only work out a person does, but right now, while I am waiting for a date, I am trying to get myself geared up and making minor changes in my life. At my size, any movement I make is a bonus and through the games and activities, I do work up a sweat and raise my heart rate.... I do recommend this as an addition... Lori

flutters/bubbles in my chest...I need help!
My daughter is lactose intolerant and gets VERY gassy when she gets something dairy. She likes to gently rub her tummy in a circle. The movement is soothing to you, but also helps chase the bubbles out from where they are stuck... With my surgeries, I suffer major gas pains as my bowels take days to wake up fully and get moving again. I sit in a rocking chair, even when i was in the hospital they chased up a rocking chair from maternity for me.. Watch out, for me it works well and could be pretty embarassing... :smile2:

Had surgery 4/22 and I feel GREAT!
I am the devil here..... I am also addicted to Dr. Pepper!! I can't live without it, but I only have about 3-4 cans a week, for real.. There is diet caffiene free Dr. Pepper now!!! Super good and it doesn't taste any different without caffiene. And if you want it to be cherry, just add some grenadine syrup to taste..... I am thankful that Dr. Pepper comes in those cute 8 oz. cans. While I am not banded, I am hoping I am one of those that can tolerate some carbonation. I quit smoking 3 months ago (don't miss it!), I am giving up my addiction to junk food, but I can't quit Dr. Pepper.....

Ouch, ouch...
when I had my hysterectomy 2 yrs ago and my scar tissue removal in Feb., I lived on ice packs!!!! Better pain relief than morphine, as the cold numbs it. Trust me though, move wrong and you will get an instant reminder you are still healing. My nurses tried to get me to use heating pad, but it just cramped me and made the pain worse....

Women - Unwanted Facial Hair
I didn't have PCOS, but after 4 yrs. of infertility treatments, the docs finally discovered I had a hormone inbalance, too much testerone, which also caused me not to ovulate (irregular cycles). Ultimately I had a partial hysterectomy for adenomyosis (internal endometreosis). I am not very hairy, however, I have more than my share of stray black hair, I noticed after my hysterectomy and my hormones evening out, the hair problem lessened ALOT.... And my leg hair is softer and not as much, as is under my arms.... Hope this helps....

Hello Band Goodbye Femininty
So, I am not banded YET, but you so need to come and live with my family..... My good ol redneck hubby actually thinks it will be great to have burping contests with me, claiming I will have the advantage.. My two sons think its great to create any body noise, laugh their butts off no matter what. My precious princess daughter can out do her brothers!!! However, because I cover my mouth and say "Excuse me", I still get to be the femimine one.....:rolleyes2: I felt a shudder, no? lol

Sweetners
Agava.. Its a natural sweetner, kinda like honey, but runnier. My kids like it and it can be put in anything from cereal to coffee... I get mine at Whole Foods. Its in the bulk area for honey and peanut butter.... Its not as sweet as honey, but it might very well solve your headaches from fake sugar...

Oschner New Orleans??
Well, his education looks good, but I really can't find much about him beyond that. I ABSOLUTELY do not want to do b y-pass, but I have over 100 pounds to lose, about 140 i think, and I don't want to be pushed and nagged into something other than banding. At this point losing 72% of 140 lbs would be great. What was his pre-op diets requirements? Liquid diet, etc??? Any and all info would be great!! i attend the seminar on April 29th and its a no brainer with my insurance(mho), so I am hoping to have surgery in June, no later than July. Yup, I am ready to just be overweight instead of OBESE, lol:thumbup:

Want to hear another crazy Dr. story?
About 3 lbs. I had a hysterectomy about 2 years ago for adenomyosis, which is internal endometriousis (sp?) Anyways, my advice? Hysterectomy? Everyone should have one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a partial, so I get all of the side shows every month, just no grand finale. And I will go through regular menopause (darn it!) when its my time... I had my hysto when I was 33. Not a moment regret, but my family was complete....

Which band is chosen?
So I am new here, and am reading everything!! I know this decision is right for me, so now I just want tons of info.... How is the band chosen that will be placed? I see different sizes and namebrands. Is it the dr. preference, are we the patient suppose to choose? Does it matter on what size we are pre-op which size is put in? Thanks!

I don't Qualify-- Need to gain 5 pounds
Ook so it is stupid.. But if I was you, I would enjoy myself immensely eating all that you want, kinda like one last hooray before dieting and not eating that much ever again..... Use it as an opportunity to say good-bye..

Hey y'all! New here...
Hey y'all, I am just starting the process to get banded, probably in the next 2-3 months and I have came across this board. I love it here!!!! Its great reading about others in similar situations instead of some skinny doctor telling me not to eat so much!!! Be forewarned, I ask TONS of questions, you will be hearing from me frequently......

Dr. Richardson anyone?
Hello all!! Am new to the boards and just starting the process to get banded. I am a BIG girl that keeps getting bigger (darn that Krispy Kreme addiction). Anyways, I have been referred to Dr. William Richardson at Oschner. Anyone know or heard anything about him?
