  1. Oh boy the Pre-op diet was hard for me. Even knowing all the head knowledge! I cheated a small cheat almost every darn day. I did make goal, loosing 5% of my total body weight. Which felt awesome! This is by no means a license to cheat, but just know that by following the diet you are on, you are doing a great job! Your liver is no doubt shrinking and lightening as we speak. You are a sucess! Don't be to hard on yourself! 2 more days and you will be a Bandster! Woo hoo! Hang in there!
  2. Hi Bansters and soon to be Bandster! I am back in the states and would like to weigh in for the past Friday. (Friday was my surgery date in Tijuana.) I met my goal of 5% body weight lost! Can I get a woo-hoo! That felt so good. God knows I struggled on my pre-op! Phew! I was 265 on Friday!!!!! The scale at the OCC and my scale are a little different, so I hope this Friday will be a successful one too!
  3. hey there! Good luck on your surgery. I hope they are right on time so you don't have to wait around! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
  4. Yay! You are now banded, that stinks you had to wait for so long. (Also stinks for the patient ahead of you.) So cool of you to post piccys! I was looking on the internet today for them. I am leaving tomorrow for Tijuana, MX where I will get my band on Friday! I'll be right behind ya!
  5. Hey! I am sorry I am reporting late. My weight for this week is 269. Coming closer to my pre-op goal weight!
  6. KMCD - I am on the 24th right along with you! I am excited too. I figure I will pack my bag this weekend to get that out of the way. I am having my surgery in Tijuana, MX. I'll fly out of Omaha bright and too early in the morning on Thursday. Pre-op testing done Thursday as well. Then Friday morning I will join everyone in Bandland! Hopefully I we won't be in bandster hell and we will both be the "bounce back kids!!!"
  7. Dang! I will say I gave 12 viles at once. I was secretly praying the guy would have a steady hand as he switched out the tubes. I really didn't want to have another stick! LOL
  8. I am 9 days out from surgery. Dr. Miranda asked me to loose 15 lbs before surgery. I am down 8-10 depending on when I weigh myself. I am hoping I can loose a few more before I fly out. I will say that I feel hungry somedays, and others I do pretty good. I am a cheat though....yep. Seems everyday I do something I am not suppose to. boo hiss! One VICTORY is I have cut out eating during the night. Yes...I am a night eater. That is a hard habit to break. Think I got it though. Anyone else on the pre-op diet and feeling tired of it? LOL It will all be sooo worth it! But gesh already!
  9. Glad to hear you are doing well. I bet laundry would be a bit tough on the tummy. From what I have read about 4cc and 10cc bands, they both work well. The one thing that sticks out the most, is that it takes people longer to feel restriction from a 10cc band. I think everyone is so different though, so who really knows. I will let you know how it goes. Take care!
  10. Hello fellow Dr. Ortiz patient! I live in Omaha, Nebraska. I have already set up after care with a local Dr. I only ran into one physician who would not accept patients from Mexico. Other than that, everyone was pretty nice. I did get the "Oh, you are having it done in Mexico?!" statement by one nurse. Yes, I am. I feel very good about my choice in surgeons. I believe Dr. Ortiz is a very good surgeon. At anyrate. Dr. Mc Bride will be seeing me for my after care. I have my first appointment set up for June 1, 2009. I am secretly hoping I will be one of those patients who have restriction right away and can hold off on getting my first fill. :thumbup:That would be awesome! Do you ever go on the lapbandforum.com? It is made up mostly of OCC patients, however not entirely! I like it there. It is a smaller venue and seems more personal. Each forum has it's perks though I will say. How are you doing? Feeling good? How's the post-op?
  11. Hello! I thought I would post some information on what I have found out for the area. UNMC - $1000.00 up front for the first 4 visits. (i.e. $250 a visit.) Then for each visit after that it will be $75 for the office and $50 for radiology. So. $125 there after. Creighton - At the time of this post, they were phasing out there bariatic program. Alegent Health - $300 for the office and $45 for radiology. So $345 all together per visit. Methodist - I did not collect any information due to my band being placed in Mexico, they would not take me on as a patient. St. Elizabeth Medical Center - $ 302.00 for the consultation and $152.00 for the first fill. Each fill after that with out floro would be $100.00. This is the current rates for aftercare as far as self pay goes. I am getting my band done in Tijuana, Mexico. Dr. Ortiz and Martienez will be my Drs. I will be happy to talk to anyone who has any qustions. PM me. I hope any one seeking information will find this thread helpful!
  12. Where did you go in Mexico? I am scheduled with Dr. Ortiz on the 24th. He is in Tijuana, MX.
  13. ThinWithin - I am NOT a Dr. however IMHO, I would be concerned with the puree foods right off the bat. Your band needs time to heal and the scar tissue needs to form. Plus, you don't want to stretch your pouch. If you stretch your pouch, it WILL NOT SHRINK BACK. Only more surgery will reshape the size of your pouch. I know that the liquid diet is not fun, but if I were you, I would stick to a liquid diet for the first couple weeks. Not only that eating foods to early on is what can cause a band to slip. You may not feel or see the effects of the damage early on, but a few years down the road.....To me the risk is to great to mess around with. I have read Lap Band for Life, and a whole ton of literature from the net and other sources. All of which indicate a liquid diet. You would be wise to call your surgeons office and double check with him. I hope this reply doesn't sound preachy. It is concerning me and I wanted to reach out to you. Angie
  14. Hello all! Starting weight 280 Current weight 271.8 Pre-op weight needs to be 265. Surgery is 4/24/09! 6.2 more pounds to go!

  16. Sue - I am so glad you posted back to me! Thanks! There is not a lot of movement in the Nebraksa forum, so I was concerned I wouldn't get a reply. I called and spoke to someone at Dr. Hung's office. She quoted me $152 for floro fills and $100 bucks for non-floro. Does that sound right to you? Right now I am pricing several Dr's trying to find the best deal so to speak. I am a self pay and the surgery itself is a huge expense. I would love to talk to you if your up for it. Can we talk on the phone? I'll pm you with my number. I live in the BIG O. So I am not far from Lincoln. Angie
  17. I would be very interested to know what the rates are now. I am going to be banded in 2 weeks. I am in Omaha, but from what I understand the fills are cheaper in Lincoln. Where do you go and how much is a fill?

  19. Would you recommend Dr. Hung? Does he do his fills by Floro all the time?
  20. Hi Barb! I am from the BIG O! I have not skipped to the back of the thread yet, so I am not sure you are still active, BUT I thought I would shoot you a message to see if you will reply. Do they still have the meeting at UNMC? I am going to be banded in TJ,MX on the 24th of this month! My after care will be done here, under McBride. I am so excited!
  21. How do I get the April Bunny Bandsters in my siggy? I am a newbie...my surgery is april 24th!
