  1. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who was banded at the same time I was. How are you doing? How has your loss been? How much do you have in your band?

    Anyone banded around 10-14-09?

You guys are right and I appreciate the comments. I have set my goal super low too, honestly I don't really care what my final weight is as long as I'm in a size 8!! But right now my goal weight is 135. My doctor didn't set a goal weight for me so I just chose one that sounded good. I will have to see how I feel about that the closer I get. I was hoping for 10 lbs a month weight loss but I am not seeing that. It averages out to around 8, I guess if I get my butt in gear and get back in the gym it might pick up a little bit. Congrats to both of you doing so well.

    Anyone banded around 10-14-09?

juliansmom, you are doing awesome! I am feeling kinda bad right now about all the crappy food choices I make sometimes, you guys are kicking my butt in weight loss! I do really well with my water intake (over 100oz a day) I normally get around 40 grams of protein in too. I just eat what I want though, not really treating this like a diet. Maybe that is why I am losing a little slower...

    Anyone banded around 10-14-09?

I am doing pretty good. I am at 6.25cc in a 9cc band. I have lost 42.6 lbs and have 48.4 to go. I average around 1000 a day, more on some less on others. My eating has not been great lately, no enough protein. So I am working on that. Glad you are doing so great and you are so close to goal!
  5. I know it varies by person and I've seen snippets here and there but I am just wondering there are some things that you have found that you cannot eat. Just want to start thinking about eating with the band, the right way! Thanks.

    Wearing a Body Shaper

Spanx has a "sister" line that sells at Target, it is called Assets. You can get the shaper that goes from your braline to mid thigh, they are great, I use them all the time and pay 1/2 of what you would with Spanx.

Almost a year out and discouraged

SCTexasGirl, I hope your fill went well and you are doing better. Mimilou are you and SCTexasGirl both patients of Dr. A? I know they only do fills every 6 weeks but haven't had one yet, just wondering what to expect with him, he's been really great to me so far, so I'm just wondering.

    Gas Pain

I was banded on 10-13 and had really bad left shoulder pain that day, I took gas x strips to the hospital and took them every 4 hours. In addition to walking alot they seemed to help. Now I am taking the gas x capsules, I like them alot better. My gas pains are all but gone now, I am still swollen but not having the pain. Try the gas x and keep moving...congrats on your band!!

    Info for you on scars

They inject your scar with a steroid to make it flatten out, the only problem is that it can get bigger due to the breakdown of the scar tissue. Personally I would see a plastic surgeon for anything to do with scars, they will also inject but they are so much better at it than derms. I worked with a plastic surgeon for years and saw people that the derms had messed up! I am glad you had a good experience though!!
  10. I am looking for someone that is in the same age/height/weight range to find out how you have progressed with your band. Just wondering how the loss works for someone with a lower BMI. I am 35/5'7"/224lbs. I appreciate any help, getting ready to schedule surgery, I know everyone is different but want to see a range of what I am looking at as far as loss goes. Thanks!!
  11. I am putting together my pre-op shopping list and list of questions for my doctor...I am a list girl and it helps me to get organized! I am reading posts here and blogs to help me ask all the right questions. If there are things you couldn't live without post-op and questions you wish you had asked please help me add them to my list. I appreciate all the help you can give, I feel so much more prepared since doing my research on this site! Thanks for all of your advice and help!
  12. After being so inspired by the blogs I read I started one too, mine is A Southern Girls Journey ..I am following yours too now!
  13. Well after two days of waiting very impatiently I got the call to schedule my surgery today! As of right now I am on the schedule for October 13th however they put me on the call list in the event something earlier opens up. I have to do my pre-surgery nutrition counseling and appointment with the doctor and only have to have two weeks of strict dieting. So good news all around today!
  14. I started this journey on 6/4/09 and I just found out I got approved on 9/11!! I am due to talk to the office and schedule surgery this week. My question is, how quickly were you able to get your surgery done after approval. I have a wedding to attend on 10/24 so I would like to have surgery on 10/1 or 10/2. I am just wondering if that is too much to hope for. Thanks for the help!:tongue2:
  15. Called twice today with no return phone call, so frustrating. I am thinking of just going to the office tomorrow to set the surgery. Did they make you do a 4 week pre surgery diet or was your wait time due to his schedule. I am wondering what their pre-op diet is like, I have already started doing a "liver shrinking diet" so hopefully that will help. Thanks for your help!

Thank you all so much! I am so excited, I called twice to try and schedule my surgery today and did not get a call back from my surgeon's office, soo frustrating! Catherine I read your blog and have just looked at Lise's, you guys are an amazing inspiration! Thank you all for your posts, it is so wonderful to know that this time next year I will be a new person, I can't wait to get started!

    Bmi, just 39%

I was worried about getting approved my BMI is only 35%. They counted my GERD and I had my doctor write a letter about my families history with cardiac disease as well as my joint pain. Also have a sleep study done, turns out I have OSA and alot of people do, that is a huge co-morbitity. Good luck!
  18. wow, they told me he was booking early Oct. now...I hope that is true! Guess I will call early am on Monday and be first in line!
  19. I am hoping to schedule next month with Dr. Antonetti, I was just wondering if there was anyone here who would be doing the same, it would be really great to have someone local to commiserate with!
  20. Looks like you have wonderfully!!! Congrats! I am excited and terrified at the same time!
  21. Hi all, I am trying to get approval for lapband. I am 35 with a BMI of 37. I have sleep apnea, GERD and arthritis. I got a denial from UHC and just found out today they sent in the paperwork without my letter from my PC and without my sleep study. I am looking for someone who got approved with UHC with stats like mine. I am really discouraged because I really want this surgery, I need to get healthy. If anyone has any helpful advice I would appreciate it, I am worried that I am going to have to do an appeal. Thank you.

Has this happened to anyone else?

thanks for the info..hopefully it will go through, otherwise I guess I will be writing letters of appeal

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thank you Suzanne, I got a call from my doctors office today and they have resubmitted the claim for auth. So we will see what they say in the next week. I would love to have copies of those letters though, I want to be proactive in getting my ducks in a row if the deny again. Thanks again.
