Nochoice's Band Date!
:clap2: :clap2: CONGRATS Nochoice on your Aug 29th Band Date!!!!!:first: Some info for Dr. Singh... You stay overnight depending on your insurance... but both my mom and I stayed overnight and am thankful to stay overnight because it is a bit harder than we thought it would be and are thankful to have had it. We don't have a pre-op or a bowel cleansing THANK GOD! Just the 2 week liquid diet and then mushies for 2 weeks and then solids. I just had my post-op on monday and he put me on mushies 2 days early so don't fret! You can have creamy Soups, broth, Jello, pudding, with cool whip, and juice- anything you can suck through a straw without using one. It isn't too bad because you really aren't hungry. Just make sure to drink that Water. I got constipated 2 weeks out! It hurt a LOT so be careful! Cut up those pills, and take your Vitamins like Arlene tells you- you know the drill by now... I will say to bring a pillow for the car ride home- the hospital doesn't give you one, and get some liquid tylenol for afterwards. And wear slip on shoes!!! I decided- like my mom, not to wear a bra home and just wore pajamas to the hospital. No big deal... By the way, congrats!!!! and good luck!

Nochoice... Dr. Singh IS very funny! and he seems to know what he's doing so that made me feel very comfortable with him. My mom trusted him enough to let him do my surgery so that should tell you something there alone! I wish you could make the meeting but I understand because you live so far away. If you have any questions about Dr. Singh just let me or my mom - BarbaraC know good luck!

10 CC band- How many CCs to get restriction?
wow congrats tipper! You've done so well since April!! I don't think I will need much fill in the future because I am so restricted already. My mom is wide open and can pretty much eat anything so we both know she is in for one. Even the doc is iffy about giving me a fill in a month so thanks for the update and goodluck losing!

Itchy rash after surgery
Thanks Texas and Rose.... I went on the steroids and they seemed to help... .but I will have some scars just from these darn blisters- or it will take a while to get rid of them. The doc has no idea what i was allergic to during the surgery, but he told me to make sure it is known to the next surgern when I need another operation. Thanks for you support and stories!

Just banded 7/5/06
I've been doing creamy soups- like cream of brocoli with shredded ff cheddar cheese, or cream of mushroom. i have to use soy milk because I'm Lactose intolerant. I love my Protein shakes- I use the chocolate permalean, with vanilla soymilk and 3 drops of mint extract! a chocolate minty treat! I can eat about half a cream of wheat package, or some grits. but Jello and pudding makes me feel stuck. When i have the creamy Soups and cream of wheat, I make sure to drink Water while I am eating to help it go down. I know I shouldn't eat and drink at the same time, but I get scared it will get stuck, so I do it for now. I'm a little nervous for the mushy stage but I know what I want... tuna salad, egg salad with crackers, salmon cakes, avocados, refried Beans, califlower mashed potatoes, and lipton chicken noodle soup. I've been making a list of the goodies so I can go shopping and pick it up. The mushie stage will seem like a godsend! We can do this!

Twentysomething Bandsters
Hey Olive, I didn't cry on the way to OR but I certainly cried the weeks before! For a while, I was mourning food, then I realized that this isn't goodbye to all food, its goodbye to my body. And I have used my body as an excuse for many things- reasons why I don't get roles, or boyfriends, etc... and I wont be able to do that any more. I found out that I have a cousin in NYC (I go to college there) and she is a personal trainer. I haven't seen her since I was 2 but I called her and she is going to train me for FREE! We are going to focus on Pilates and breathing exercises. I can't wait. I'm so ready to change and ready to become the woman I know I am. I know that I can do it now. Food seems insignificant... its like I know it will physically hurt me to eat something like pasta or something and I don't want that. It's not worth gaining that weight. Oh but I did cry. It's scary. In my mind, I kept thinking "I wish I could back out, but we've already paid" or "my mom already did it, so now I have to" I was making all these excuses to make myself go through with the surgery. But I know that if I really didn't want it, I wouldn't have gone through with it. I wanted this. I don't want to live my life like this anymore. it was embarrasing. I also am an attention whore! I can't wait for people to start noticeing and giving me more attention lol. I guess thats why I am a performer. And in order to have a career, I have to lose my butt.

July 2006 Band Crew
Hey everyone! Two days ago, I tried jello and pudding for the first time and felt soooo sick! I didn't PB, but I coughed so much that I used numbing spray in my throat to stop that tickle! I'm kind of scared to move past the liquid stage because I feel SO much restriction already. I guess I'm lucky. My mom is now in the mushy stage and is hungry a lot! Yesterday, I didn't take my pain meds for the first time- I finished the narcatics and my doc gave me something else. My allergic rash is almost gone too! Boy that was itchy and all over my arms and stomach... I used an entire tube of benedryl and cortizone cream. I can't really complain though- the second night (first night home) I was able to get in and out of bed right away by myself and I never slept in a recliner! Just with a lot of pillows! I went to Walmart and the Grocery store with my mom on the third day and am feeling satisfied with the liquids. I haven't had much gas pains and no gas in my shoulder. My mom has had horrible pains in her shoulder but she is already healed and 2 of her scars are almost un-noticeable. All of my steri-strips are still on, so I haven't really seen my scars yet... hope they're pretty! I was doing perfectly until two days ago when I read on the paper that my liquids included jello and pudding. Then, it was pain that night and pain the next day. Yesterday, I could only half of a protein drink and 2 skinny cow fudge bars. Today, I feel better but it really scared me to feel stuck with jello and pudding. I'm not sure if I will need a fill or not with that feeling. It was like a rock was in my chest. But I can't complain with what the scale says! I didn't do a pre-op diet and have now lost 13 pounds since the 5th. WOW. oh and Gatorade is my friend to help me get in the calories since it's been so hard to get over 700 calories. I've been getting about 250 calories a day from the Gatorade. It keeps me functioning! I go to my post-op appt on Monday and go back to work on Tuesday... I can't wait to do something, because I am SOOO bored!

What is or was your "Last Meal"
I decided that I didn't want to have too much excess gas so I took it easy. Being banded isn't the end of food, just the amount. I ate 1 4oz cup of yogurt and was full for the rest of the night, so its pretty nice being banded and finding out the little amounts are satisfying. for my last meal, i had bbq grilled chicken breast with a potato roll and vegies because I know... no more potato rolls! but the day before my surgery was July 4th so I had to celebrate with something!
