    Beginner to exercise questions

Okie dokie - I have a question... I was banded in March of this year and almost 4 weeks ago now I started with a personal trainer 3 x a week. A week after I started with the trainer I joined the gym and so the last couple of weeks I've exercised 5 times a week (Mon to Fri). I've noticed though that my weight loss the last couple of weeks is less than what it was before I started exercising and I've had two fills since then and so am eating less, and eating better - After all the Fluid and mushy food stages passed, I knew that the weight loss was going to slow quite a bit and it has been a steady 1 kilo (2.2lbs) a week, over the last two weeks with intense exercise it's been 1.5 kilos in total - am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions would be great!!

    Hello fellow Antipodeans

Hey Big G I'm a kiwi girl living in Aus :smile2: Had my surgery on 24/3 - and although it's only been 2 weeks, I can honestly say that I KNOW it's been the best decision ever! I dont' know what the cost is back home, but thankfully I was able to access my superannuation otherwise I would never have been able to afford it. Kia kaha  And let me know how you go! C

    banded week of March 26th...

Hey Staree! I was banded on March 24 and am feeling a whole lot better this week :smile2: The first week or so was a little ouchy ouchy - but now I'm all ready to go  I have been lucky enough to be able to take a few weeks off work and it's just allowed me to not stress about rushing back to work or worrying about anything other than just taking care of me. I'm looking forward to moving onto to mushie food  Only a few more days to go! Have a great day! C
  4. Hey out there :smile2: I'm a 34 year old kiwi girl living in Australia. I had my surgery on 24 March - and am soooo looking forward to being able to eat solid food again  But so far - this has been the best decision of my life! I hope everyone's having a great day! C
  5. Thanks for dropping into my post and saying hi :)

    Have a great day!

  6. Hi there! Just thought I'd introduce myself. I had my surgery on 24 March 09 and am really looking forward to watching the scales drop in number little by little  Have been overweight my whole life and initially struggled with the idea of Lap Band surgery, because I felt that if I did it, I would be admitting complete and utter failure and it would just prove that I had absolutely no self control. HOwever I have since decided that I don't really care if that's what it means or not, because I wanted to change and I knew that this procedure would be able to help me change. And it has! I have experienced great weight loss in the last few weeks and I realise that this will slow down, however for now it's a great boost. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's stories and experiences!

    Just joined...and very confused

Hey Chaz i had my surgery just over a week ago now and I agree, it's hard when you see foods that you would normally not think twice about eating, but I also agree with the others who've said it's something you just have to work on. I have been overweight my whole life and this whole lap band adventure is so so exciting to me. I barely ate in my first week home, and my weight loss reflected that for sure, but now I'm feeling hungry and although on fluids, I just make sure I eat on time and usually every couple of hours - not that I'm eating HUGE amounts - probably half a cup at a time (soup, juice both vegie and fruit), Meal Replacement drink etc. I have found that this just keeps me focussed and on track. My first fill wont be for another 6 weeks or so, and my surgeon said to me before I let hospital - that the time is essential to first put a 'band' around my mind in terms of what foods I should eat and what I shouldn't, so that when I have my first fill it won't be such a big surprise  I am excited for you and am sending lots of positive vibes! I hope this was helpful in some way? Cal
  8. Hi Hi! Just thought I'd post a response and say hi and offer support to all those who are going in for surgery soon I just got out of hospital two days ago and although i'm sore, and a little gassy - I feel lighter already! lol I did Dr MacLeods program 3 weeks before surgery and lost 11 kgs. My Surgeon told me the day after surgery that he was really impressed with my effort and my liver looked nice and firm (yay!) He was also able to use a smaller band than originally planned - I felt like I'd just been given an A+ when he said that I'm struggling to drink enough Water, or actually enough of anything because I currently have no appetite, but I am working on it :w00t: I hope you're all having a super duper day today! Lots of support and positive vibes from Brissy :cool2: C
