  1. I eat a poached egg on a slice of wholemeal toast(done that way the egg does not get stuck) or a bowl of oats or homemade muesli with greek yogurt. If I'm in a rush and have an up and go then like you I find I am hungry and looking for real food an hour or so later. For me drinking my meals is not an option.
  2. I have a friend with a band that swears by her vibragym. She got it because of muscle/joint issues after a pregnancy . Apparently it is really good for core strength etc.
  3. There is a report button on each post. You can use that. It is normally used to report something objectionable but it might be an option. Alternatively you can start a thread in the suggestions forum but obviously that wouldn't be an option in this case.
  4. I believe that any weight gain through menopause is due to bad eating habits. I may or may not be menopausal. I had a hysterectomy last year but I still have my ovary(only one) and I am not sure if it is functioning or not. I get the occasional hot flush but far more cold flushes. I have no idea what a libido is , I may have had one once but that was a long time ago. I used to have a brilliant memory , I could watch the first 5 seconds of a TV show and remember the whole thing, these days I know I've seen it before but it comes back to me slowly. I don't think I'm moody but my kids might beg to differ. I have been getting quite bad palpitations - I have just been for blood tests to try to find the cause so I'm not sure if I can blame those on menopause yet or not. I have gained a couple of kgs since the beginning of the year. Is that because of menopause? Well it would be nice if I could blame that but realistically I think it is because I am eating more junk. I haven't been working much so I'm at home bored and surrounded by temptation. I think what you need to do is be honest with yourself. Make a note of what you are eating. You can use a site like my fitness pal or just write it down or even take photo's. You will probably be surprised. It is quite likely that odd Snacks have crept in here or there and the calories soon add up. Good luck, hope you get back on track soon. I need someone to kick my a@@e and get me back on track.
  5. Mine were supposed to be at 3 weekly intervals but of course when I tried to book the Dr's were too full and I had to wait longer.
  6. I hope that you haven't caused a slip. Throwing up, especially so soon after surgery , can cause problems. It might be worth calling your Dr to see if he wants to check that everything is still in place.
  7. If you aren't hungry don't eat. The books and info that I got all state that 3 meals a day or less or fine. Who came up with the 3 meals per day thing anyway? Yes it probably suits some people but I don't believe it should be a 1 size suits all thing. Eat when you are hungry - not when the clock says you should.
  8. Make your own. Just boil some veggies in some stock and then blend until you hit the desired consistency. You can add herbs and spices to taste. If you want extra Protein try adding Beans or lentils or chickpeas etc Although the gas may be something you just need to get used to. Most bandsters find they burp and/or fart a lot more than they did preband
  9. The same thing happened to me after my hysterectomy. I didn't pull it, I just cut it as close to the skin as possible.
  10. I completely agree - it drives me insane.
  11. I'll be happy when they do actually figure things out and all the Dr's start singing from the same song sheet. There is way too much variance and confusion out there. In the meantime we should all stick to listening to our own Dr, if we are not happy we something they tell us then query it with them. And we should all strive to find what works for us as an individual. e.g I know I'm not going to time the wait between bites. But I do wait until the bite I have just eaten feels comfortable. Sometimes that might take a minute, sometimes it takes longer and I'm sure sometimes it takes less.
  12. My Dr has never had a problem with carbonation, I am allowed it so long as it doesn't cause me discomfort. But a low cal soft drink is not necessarily carbonated - it could be cordial, or ice tea or crystal light or something similar.
  13. Well what would you expect from a ffp, it's not like I'm a model or anything.
  14. It's not true. Try having an unfill for a period of time and see how quickly your hunger comes back. After we have been banded for a while we may think that we have it all down pat but we forget that the band is helping to control our hunger. Instead of having your band removed if you think you can cope without it have a complete unfill and see if you manage to maintain your weight loss, at least it is still there to be refilled when you find you can't. I can never understand why people think like this. If it was something like a pacemaker we wouldn't be asking if we could have it removed once the heart rate returned to normal would we? Obesity is a disease and it is one that needs a permanent solution.
  15. Yeah right! This is why she won't tell us who her Dr is. She is making this stuff up.
  16. I still find the whole thing extremely confusing and most of the info even from experts such as Dr O Brien seems to be contradictory. The placement he shows and talks about is very high and seems to differ with what has been on the Allergan site for the past couple of years. So is this the way bands are being placed or just some bands or is it new. If it is only a recent thing then is this information still correct for those that may have a different/lower placement. I am still struggling to get my head around food passing through in a minute and have been for a while although that explains how when you get stuck you feel it instantly. Previously I couldn't understand how if the food was designed to sit in the pouch why you could feel it instantly when something got stuck. But one of the main things that doesn't make sense is how people stretch their pouches. How many times do we hear that someone has stretched their pouch by overeating and not sticking to the recommended amount of food? If there is no pouch and if the food goes through instantly then surely there is not going to be any risk of stretching? So someone PLEASE explain that for me.
  17. Wow that is a terrible story. Was the vomiting blood the first symptom that you had? If it was then that is incredibly scary. Hope that everything now goes well.
  18. A lot of you are laughing but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of us have consumed this stuff already. Isn't this the stuff that they put in some of the diet pills that are designed to make you feel full quicker. It could even be in some of those diet shakes...........
  19. Generally most bands never need to be filled to capacity. There are a few exceptions ( normally Realize bands that can be overfilled) but for the majority of us this is not an issue. You should be able to achieve the green zone before your band is full. In fact the closer it gets to full the more likely your band is to be too tight and having a too tight band is not fun. I assume that you must have been banded in Mexico as the 4cc is an old band that is not in general use any more, is that correct? Most people that have the 4cc band actually seem to reach their green zone quicker and easier than a lot of us with the newer larger capacity bands.
  20. It's taken me a while but I think I may finally have got with the program. Sorry I missed it initially, it looks like you all had lots of fun. I think the official verdict could be that you are all mad so maybe I'm lucky I wasn't here earlier or I could have been classified mad too! I love LBT. Somedays it covers the whole entertainment spectrum - Drama, tragedy, comedy, slapstick..............
  21. That sounds really serious. I hope that you make a full recovery really quickly. Good news that your Dr was on the ball and did the right thing to prevent future problems.
  22. I've flown plenty of times and never had an issue. According to my Dr you are more likely to have problems flying if you have an unfilled band - the air in it can expand whereas apparently the saline doesn't.
  23. I can't see how or why a lapband would impact on IVF.
  24. For me it generally means I need to slow down.
