Much of the world couldn't begin to understand why such an issue was made here over Clinton getting a BJ. As you say, they have very definite opinions about Bush.

True, and of course politians are good at feeding into our fears and concerns. But I don't get the "I wouldn't vote for ___" because of the people supporting them/it/that. There is more then enough nastiness on both sides.

Rants and Raves is just that. A place to talk about non-weight loss issues, to "Gripe, complain, moan, fight, rant and rave.".

Because he ran a good campaign. Because he told people what they wanted to hear. Because people were tired of the scandals during Dem. Clinton's administration, and were promised a change if Reps were elected. Because many didn't think it was a good idea to change presidents mid-war. Because we don't have a history of making the best choices always in our elections. Or other reasons I don't know. I personally don't think he's stupid. I do think he's a terrible leader.

Well, Bush isn't up for re-election. Also, I would HOPE that people who are undecided would decide on issues and stances of the politians that are running, not anyone else.

Honestly, it didn't play that big a role. I don't think I would have done the surgery just for vanity. That said, I'm enjoying wearing smaller clothes, and having people tell me I look better. It's a nice side-effect!

I couldn't eat less and lose weight without surgery. Not for any length of time. I tried everything, and nothing worked long term. This is working, so far, and much better then anything else I've done. There are physical things having a band does for you, at least I'm noticing changes. You eat less of course, because it restricts how much you eat. But it also reduced my desire for a lot of junk food. I can walk by most of it indifferently. It's not calling my name anymore. I really enjoy my food when I'm hungry, but when I'm not, I just don't want it. That NEVER happened before, no matter what plan I was following. There is a very real physical change in me that has nothing to do with my willpower or desire to lose or anything like that. Why do you feel their support is needed, if you are of age and have the resoures to do it? You might not get it, are you able to go ahead anyway?

Yes and Yes. I believe we all do. It may not be based on race or gender, but I think we all some group of people we are prejudiced against, and that we discrimate against.

To me, it doesn't even matter if the Bible is as clear as crystal or mud. If some people believe it with all their heart, mind and soul and others don't. What I don't get is why it's OK to make laws based on someone's beliefs, that affect people who don't share them, when I don't see any overriding societial reason to do so.

Is that from many, you get lots of support. Today, my manager went around handing out Cookies. I wasn't at my desk, so she told me that she had left a fat-free pudding for me, but of course I was welcome to a cookie if I wanted one. I thought that was very nice of her.

Poor thing - you have the trifecta going! I'm planning to stay in my cubical as much as possible at work today. I know if I venture out, there will be treats everywhere. I've been doing good at not being that interested so far, but the sheer sugar onslaught might just wear me down.

I've always wondered when I read this passage why homosexuals are singled out as it's targets by some. What about all the rest of those listed? I rarely hear them be as condemmed.

I love Harry Potter, I've read all the books, and seen all the movies. It's one of those series I can read more then once, and I'm really wondering how it's all going to end. Which book is your favorite so far?

I agree, a PB can be a great learning tool. My first one wasn't bad, but I knew I didn't want to feel that way again. Took twice more to really learn the lesson, but it was a great negative reinforcement!

Actually, that not always true. DH and I got life insurance last year, a year after his banding. And the premium isn't any higher then it would have been had he not had surgery. In fact, we couldn't get him covered in the past because of his weight. It must vary by company.

You deduct the surgery this year. And remember to deduct all the your medical expense for the year! I had things like what I pay for health insurance, and meds and all that for the whole year I got to deduct. Then, if you finance via a home equity loan, you likely can deduct the interest that you pay on it as well.

And you are totally entitled to your opinion, it's one of the cool things about freedom! The difference is you had the legal right to marry your partner. A gay couple doesn't. You might be surprised at the legal rights you got when you signed your marriage license. Like the right to be involved in his health care decisions when he can't make them. To visit him in the hospital. To collect on his SS(In fact, my mom was entilted to some of my dad's even though they had divorced). Joint insurance policies. I've seen lists of the benefits, I'll have to see if I can find one.

That's a good idea! We are buying ours tonight, that's a huge change from the days we'd buy it a week or two ahead, eat it all, and have to buy more. And eat it, and have to buy more... :faint: The day after Halloween is the hardest. All my wonderful co-workers bring their left-over candy into the office.
