  1. Hi Jill, Congrats on losing 15lbs that is awesome!!! I am right there with you at about 3 1/2 months out and have only lost 22lbs. I have to agree with Nkara about adding in a Protein shake. Protein is the key here once I started to focus on Proteins first the weight has started coming off. Try to get at least 70g a day and if its 7pm and you havent made it...drink that Protein Shake. Also, carbs can be your worst enemy but if you must try sticking to the whole wheat ones and always eat those last...sometimes you will be too full to eat them. Good Luck!!! Remember 15lbs gone and never coming back . Trece
  2. Hi Allison, I too had the same issues after surgery and after the third day of no BM I started adding Benefiber to whatever I may have for the day. There is no difference in taste of what its added to and it works GREAT!!! Hope this helps.
  3. Hi Kat, I just had my surgery on July 14th and I did a video on what I purchased on youtube...here is the link: YouTube - Lapband Video #2 - What I Purchased Good luck tomorrow!!! Let me know if you have any questions. By the way this is going to be the best thing you have ever done for yourself :wink2:.
  4. Hello...I had my surgery on Tuesday and am also having lots of gas as of day three. I have not had a BM as of yet and am wondering if I ever will. I think its a good idea to contact your doc tomorrow if the diarreha continues as you don't want to get dehydrated. I would love to talk to others going threw the process.
  5. Hello, I just had my surgery with Dr. Long on 7/14 and it went great. The staff/hospital were great to work with and I couldn't be anymore pleased than I am right now. My mom was with me on the day of surgery and was very impressed with Dr. Long as well as the staff from his office. I really like this office as everyone was very personable and knew who you were. If I had to take this journey all over again I would go back to Dr. Long's office. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Thanks!
  6. OMG...this is day one and my tummy is making all sorts of noises. This is truly "hell week"but I guess no pain no gain.
  7. Congrats...I know how excited you are. I was just approved yesterday and am having surgery on July 14th. We are on our way...happy early birthday!!!
  8. I am so excited right now my heart won't stop beating. I just found out I was approved! I am scheduled for surgery on July 14! I have Aetna PPO and my paper work was submitted on June 23rd and I was approved today June 29th. I can't wait for my new Birth-day! Trece :rolleyes2:
  9. Congrats!!! Do you have Aetna PPO? What is this I hear about them not covering fills?
  10. The Greek Yogurts are great!! I love the pomegranate as well as the blueberry at Trader Joes. I am preop but am doing a low carb diet and one way I have increased my protein is my adding protein powder to my greek yogurt (per my nutritionist). I add about 1/2 a package or scoop of Injury - Unflavored or Vanilla to my yogurt which only adds 40-50 calories but gives me 10 extra grams of protein so I am getting 22 grams in one cup! Plus it doesn't taste weird...just thought I would share .
  11. Hi mslutz, I would check with the doctors office on that. I am also in the process of trying to get approved and going through Sibley Weight Loss Center in Washington DC. They require a $600 program fee but with that you get, consultation, 4 visits with the nutritionist (1 post-op and 3 pre-op), 4 visits with the personal trainer (1 post-op and 3 pre-op), your psycological examination, a binder of information and I think thats it I may have left something out. I have noticed a lot of offices requiring a program fee now....some as high as $750(GWU) and not including anything. Good luck!!! What part of Maryland are you in...I'm in Laurel. Back2Fab
  12. Hello Happy, I haven't had my surgery with Dr. Long as of yet but I am also in the process...had my pre-op testing done last week. I love the staff from this office...they are extremly helpful and work with you in getting your documents in. I selected his office because everything is located in the same building, sort of like a one stop shop lol. Please keep in touch and maybe we will be the first to discuss our experiences with Dr. Long and the lap band procedure at Sibley Weight Loss Center here. One thing I have notied is that there isn't much info from others out there but I guess going to a support meeting will help. Good Luck!!
