This may be the apex of our disagreement. We have no right, IMHO to enforce our so-called interests in any region of the world. We are responsible for ourselves. If the USA spent more time making alliances and less time building weapons for the next war, which usually is part of the reason for the next war, maybe we could learn to get along. I know it is easy to say that I am expecting Utopia, but when we go into every situation and every part of the world with this "we have the right to protect our interests" attitude, then conflict is inevitable.

Rich people can afford to hire these "Jury Advisors", while poor people can barely afford a decent attorney This has lead to a complete disconnect with reality between the public and their perception of the judicial system. The average US citizen sees the Jury system as always letting the guilty go free, while in actuality, the innocent are often convicted. The reason is that the majority of cases that get into the news are celebrity cases in which the celebrity outspends the prosecution (got to keep taxes down), but the vast majority of cases are those that do not make the news and they involve defendants with slim resources who very often have inadequate council and get convicted even when innocent. When I was a foreman of a Grand Jury in Kings County (Brooklyn, NY), the Assistant District Attorney told me that Kings County had an 88% conviction rate.

The best Neo-Con line of all time (though it spread to the general public) was "Just think what would have happened if Gore had been president" after 911. Well he would not have sat there reading a children's book with a look of stupidity on his face (I am giving BuSh extra credit when I say "reading", rather than "looking at"). I am so sick of the love affair this country has with Rudolph Giuliani. What else could he have done on 911? The attacks had subsided. This idea that only BuSh and Rudy could have handled 911 is based on what? Only Republicans can handle stress? I seem to remember hearing about a cripple (sorry for the rude term, but that's what they called him back then) who did not attack the wrong country when the USA was attacked, and I believe he was a Democrat.

The "Today Show" featured a story today on Big Busted mannequins that are being put into the store windows of many department stores. The Mannequins' measurements are 5'10", 40"-23"-32.5", which is not very realistic and will lead to more children demanding breast augmentation, more women feeling inferior until they get breast surgery and another round of medical problems for US women. Only the doctors who perform breast enlargement surgery, the clothes manufacturers and men who see women only as sexual toys will benefit from this assault on the female body.

I had to sleep on my recliner for a week after my sergury. It will get better. You will make it. You will look back at this and laugh a few weeks from now. Keep fighting.

I am not familiar with either doctor, but on your end, you need to be sure that you can dedicate yourself to this life altering procedure. You will lose both your best friend and worst enemy; food. Your companion will not be there to comfort you. You will miss it and you will feel hungry both physically and emotionally. They are two different kinds of hunger. Please find a support group before you have your surgery. They may tell you things that may change your mind about having the surgery, but they may help you prepare for the life ahead with a band. I have had problems, but I would do it again. Good Luck

Want More Proof how bad BuSh is? Today it was revealed that China was able to knock a satellite out of space. The reason that this is so important is that the USA depends on satellites for both military and commercial purposes. Without satellites, the US technological advantages in war would all but disappear. Our chance at winning even wars against small countries would be diminished. Until this announcement, only Russia had the ability to destroy our satellites What makes it so annoying is that BuSh had a chance to demilitarize space by a UN treaty signed by 160 countries, but of course, BuSh always looking for the edge, refused and now China will militarize space. China has little to lose, having less than 10% as many satellites in space as the USA.

I once knew a 747 pilot; a "Born Again" Evangelical Christian who believed the Bible to be word for word true. When we discussed dinosaurs, he said that they were rocks carved to look like bones of a large skeleton This was before the latest “excuse de jour”, which is that the dinosaurs were killed in the "Great Flood". When I mentioned carbon dating, he said that carbon dating was inaccurate. "Yes," I said, "carbon dating is inaccurate. When they date something as 70 million years old, it might be only 50 million or might be closer to 100 million, but not 6,000". When he tried to totally discredit the science, I reminded him that the airplane he was piloting to Egypt that evening, was designed using the same scientific principles that developed the "Theory of Relativity".

There is a large group of US Christians who are pro-Israel to the point of funding Israel's most right-wing political parties. They do not do it out of benevolence, but for a mean spirited cruel deceitful purpose. Their aim is to have Israel throw the Palestinians off the land that they now occupy, because these US Christians see that as the first step toward the countdown to Revelation Day. The pity is that they do not realize the "Revelations" does not belong in the Bible. Many scholars think that the "Book of Revelations" was a communication between Christians denouncing the Emperor of Rome, written in allegorical code, so that the writer would not be killed by the Romans. The emperor was probably either Domitian or Nero. Constantine was emperor of Rome about 250 years after "Revelations" was written and probably did not realize what it was, when his commission allowed it to be canonized as part of the Bible. Much like "Alice in Wonderland" and "Gulliver's Travels", it was political satire. But these 21st Century US Christians believe that after Israel takes over the land, there will be a 7 year war in which all but 144,000 Jews will be slaughtered. The 144,000 will be the Jews that accept Jesus as their savior and then get to go to Heaven on Judgment day along with the Evangelical Christians. All the others; all Baptists, all Roman Catholics and all the members of many other Christians Denominations will burn forever in the fires of Hell. Much of these ideas are based on the writings of John Nelson Darby from the 1830's who formulated the idea of the "Rapture". But lately they have been pushed to the forefront by Reverend Timothy LaHaye, one of the most influential leaders of the Christian right, and a man who played a quiet but pivotal role in putting George W. BuSh in the White House. Reverend LaHaye is renowned for his series of best-selling apocalyptic novels known as the "Left Behind" books (and movies). They are known as the "Left Behind" books because the sequence starts with (Darby's) "Rapture" in which all the good Christians are swept off Planet Earth leaving their clothing behind and flying off toward Heaven. When an Israeli official, who's right wing party benefits from the UnChristian Never-Right Political Movement's contribution to them was asked about the intended slaughter or conversion of Jews in the plans of the money contributors, he said that they (the Jewish right-wing party) would accept the money, but did not believe (or worry about) that the wars known as "The Tribulation" would be coming. Two groups, each playing the others for fools, each doing it using the name of God while advancing their political/religious agendas. Happy WW3.

I thought that ad was totally disgusting and should have immediately been removed and the sponsors censored. That kind of tripe doesn't belong in government. Mary It was removed, but then the media showed it over and over again, pretending to be disgusted at its content and implication. The USA will be the country that it pretends to be when an ad like that will have only the effect of dropping the person who put it on TV further down in the polls.

You have not dicussed theology other than saying your interpretation is right because it is the word of God. I am secure in my convictions and one of my convictions is that people like you are only around to abuse people by making them feel inferior you and to your all knowing understanding of Jesus. Like each of the 10 people I spoke about after my minister's guest sermon, they each knew that their way was the word of God. You are not number 1, you are just number 11. The other 10 would have all Known that your opinion was wrong.

By the way, the same thing would have happened again after the "Great Flood". There was neither enough humans, nor animals on the boat for a good variety of genes.
