    Approved

Hard to believe I had my patient advocate submit for my band to sleeve revision surgery today and I got a call a half hour later saying that Blue Cross/Blue Shield of AZ had already approved it! She said that it was hands down the quickest approval she has ever seen. Now I have to set a date.
  2. So July 11th will be five months post from a band to sleeve revision. Life has been great no complications. I live and feel like a normal person. I went from a starting weight of 280 to a current weight of 212. I wear a size 36 waist and I am currently running 20 miles a week. Side note. I have been a very avid runner since my band. 6 years and 2500 miles logged on Nike plus. My question is that while I know I don't each that much, I feel like I can eat quite a bit. Especially given that my surgeon says my stomach is the size of a thumb. I am wondering if I am still healing and may be able to eat more due to my esophagus which may be able to hold more due to years of band eating. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Okay officially frustrated. Sleeved February 11th, weighed 273 currently weigh 241. Have been 241 for quite a while now. Running 4.5 miles 4 days a week. I am guessing its due to a lack of Water and calories. Need some help and encouragement. Sent from my iPad using VST
  4. Just as it says. I have been the same weight for three weeks. I am 6 weeks out and lost about 31 lbs. since my surgery. I feel like I'm losing inches but the weight has not dropped as I have thought it would or should. I drink a bunch and admittedly don't eat that much per day. Have I shut down my metabolism? Any ideas or encouragement. Sent from my iPad using VST
  5. Ok so I'm about 5 1/2 weeks post op and 2 weeks away from a normal diet. My question that as of late my full feeling has seemed to vanished. I kind of limit my food intake on my own. Just curious as to why I feel I can eat away. I'm not really hungry at all. Sent from my iPad using VST

    First run

Five weeks post op. first time on the road since mid December. Felt great. Ran 4.4 miles at 9:30 pace. Which kind of sucks but I didn't stop and I know I'll get my speed back.so happy right now. Sent from my iPad using VST

    First run

I've been running for 6 years. So the cardio is there but I didn't expect this after 3 months off. Sent from my iPad using VST
  8. I had my band 6 long frustrating years. And the past 30 days since my revision has been the best month ever. I have 0 hunger. Never believed that would happen. I have not puked since having the revision. Puked all the time with the band. I am only on the soft food part of my post op as of yet. However eggs don't scare me anymore. Tuna doesn't scare me anymore. Get the picture. I had six years of torture. Learning how to eat around the band because it caused so many food intolerances. I love my revision. Best decision ever. And as far as not losing as much as a virgin sleever. News flash, we are virgin sleevers. I have lost 40 pounds since 2/11/13 and I only have 70 total to loose. It's up to you. Follow the rules and this surgery does what the band was supposed to do but now is recognized as not being able to do. Sent from my iPad using VST

    Okay at 3 weeks?

Very avid runner. Had to take time off due to my revision from band to sleeve which was successful on February 11th 2013. I am dying to get back on the road. Is it too early? I feel great. Just don't want to mess anything up. Sent from my iPad using VST
  10. So I am 22 days out and feeling great. But lazy. I only took 5 days off from work. And as of today I am down 26 pounds. I was a very avid runner up to surgery and dying to get back out there. Doctor recommended I wait six weeks. What damage can I cause by starting tomorrow. If any. I just need to go running. It was my "me" time. 4 miles a day every day. Sent from my iPad using VST

    Okay at 3 weeks?

Yeah I started running in 2007 after lap band surgery. I ran 4 half marathons in 2008-2009 at a very good time. Averaged under 2 hours. Before this surgery I was running 4 miles a day 4-6 days a week. Just curious what damage if any can I do by running now before waiting six weeks. Sent from my iPad using VST

    Sleeve or band

I am not yet three weeks out from my revision and I am down 24 pounds since surfer on the 11th. Feel way better than I did with the band for 6 years.
  14. I am in my hospital bed in pain but really happy that as of this morning my band is gone and my sleeve is completed. I am strangely very happy and emotional knowing that I have the reigns I've been looking for but never found with that damn band. I was very scared going into this. In fact I thought about leaving. But I knew this was going to be a very good thing for me. Anyone wondering about it please just ask. I had my band on for 6 years and my conversion happened in one surgery. Dr Juarez at St Luke's in Phoenix has been great.

    Pain

Yes I am seeing him Tuesday. Post op visit. When I took in a deep breath I was like whoa that was pretty intense pain.
  16. So I am 13 days post op. I have lost 21 pounds since surgery. 35 since pre op diet. I started having pain under right rib cage. And hurts taking deep breath. Is this a gallbladder issue? This quick?

    Pain

Yes I am seeing him Tuesday for post op. that's what made it hurt real bad. Was when I took in a deep breath. I was like whoa.

    Pain

Gallbladder is located under right rib cage. I've had many weight loss surgeries unfortunately. Two lap band and the sleeve. This pain is nowhere near any incision and I know what incisional pain is like. I'm just concerned that with my up and down loss over the years that this recent loss of 36 pounds in less than a month may be the kicker.

    Pain

I don't have any sutures anywhere near the area where it hurts. I'm going for my post op appointment on Tuesday. I am not doubting I may be in for gallbladder problems. Just didn't expect it so soon. We will see. I'm happy at my weight 252. I was originally 345 when I got my lap band 6 years ago. So I have to yo yo'd a lot. So my gallbladder may just have had it with me.
  20. Jason. Also a guy here. Same worries. I did it for me. I was a lap band to sleeve revision and it was the best thing so far. Only 12 days out but I am not hungry at all and I don't miss it.

    Does anyone still feels hungry?

I am almost two weeks out and can honestly say I have no physical hunger at all. I had read about it on here and in pre op class but didn't believe it till it happened to me. Even going out with my wife to a restaurant I don't get hungry. Just sip water and enjoy the night.

    Why Lie?!?!

I was the first one to be embarrassed telling my boss about it. But when I woke up in recovery I was happy and proud of what I chose to do. So I just made the statement that I posted. Never meant to piss anyone off.

    Why Lie?!?!

Wow. I wasn't trying to offend anyone or hate on those that keep it a secret. Lets settle down.
  24. AZPete

    Why Lie?!?!

I never lie. Most people say why would you need to do that. I just say because I did. I wear my choices like a badge of honor. Why be embarrassed. Or ashamed. I live when people say I'm taking the easy way out. I look at them and say if you think surgery and a risk of complications is easy, your real ignorant. When people ask why I was out if work for four days I tell them my stomach and I didn't see eye to eye so u got rid if it.
