Leenerbups, There are only 2 hospitals in MI that are certified, so far. Once this gets going, and others become certified, we should be able to go anywhere close. Martha

OMG, Terry. This is what I am afraid of. I am a diabetic, and I have asked my clinic the same question. They quaranteed me they have a 2% chance of port infection rate. They had NO reported incidents. Hope you are doing better. Good Luck! [ I have not been banded yet] Martha

I know, I just read your thread. Is there no certified hospital in your area? Your doctor or clinic should keep you informed. That's how I found out. The waiting game. It sucks big time. Martha

Port Huron, and Harper Hospital do, but you have to wait for the certificate of ecellance to be awarded to these hospitals. I am waiting for this to happen, so I can get surgery. {I have Medicare as prumary} Martha

Hi Josette, thanks for the infor....do you also know if Port Huron Hospital has a CERTIFICATE OF ECELLANCE to comply with MEDICARE complyancies? Medicare requires this before they will pay. Martha

Hello everyone, I have been approved , took all tests, and waiting for the hospital to get it's CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLANCE before Medicare will approve surgery. So far, it's been 2 months waiting for this. I am told that the committy will conduct this, on June 14, then it will take them another month and half to give the hospital the certification. In the meantime, the hospital is doing bariatric surgery on all other pt's with regular insurance. Seems a little unfair if you ask me. :help: Anyone else heard or have this problem too? Martha
