  1. Way to go Leepers!!!! Congrats and much continued success.
  2. This weeks long run = 14 miles. Happy Hump day all! http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/652501598#tab-stats
  3. Congrats on being off to a fantastic start!! I wish you much continued success.
  4. There are lots of people who've had "Band over Bypass" and "Band over Sleeve"....AND vice versa... so listen to the medical professionals. There are several people who are active on here who got plication when they had their bands placed, and have done fantastic! Some haven't even needed to adjust (fill) thier band post op....for years. I haven't heard of anyone going to plication after bypass, but I'm sure your surgeon wouldn't be suggesting it without some EXPERT knowledge of its success rates. And welcome to the forum! I think you'll find most people here non-judgemental about your regaining and seeking more help via a revision. We all needed help to control our eating....some are so quick to forget that. I wish you much success in whatever you and your surgeon decide is best for you!
  5. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/314323-port-site-concern/?hl=%2Ballergic+%2Breaction+%2Bfill#entry3547567 Not sure if your doc used numbing med, but some of this thread sounds similar...
  6. Hmmmm...not sure then. Hopefully, it's better by morning!
  7. Possibly an allergic reaction to the cleaning solution they used prior to accessing the port? Ever had a reaction when giving blood/etc before?
  8. long (slow) run today: 11 miles at HM heart rate target. I really gotta pick up the pace.. Happy Monday all! http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/647792063
  9. Theres no way for anyone to know for sure whether you "screwed something up" over the computer. My suggestion would be to call your surgeon, either now or in the morning depending on how YOU feel, and see what he/she says. Hopefully, its just sore and everything will be fine. Best wishes!
  10. Welcome to bandster hell! MOST...but not all, of us have been through it. I felt those exact same feelings over 5 years ago myself. But in reality, its just a very short time in the rest of your life. It's not uncommon at all to hear of people GAINING weight during this phase. You've probably been on mostly/all liquids for a few weeks and now you may start introducing solids back into your life. Don't worry about "ruining" this. Just do the best you can portion wise, eat only the TYPES of food on your surgeon's plan and allow yourself time to heal fully. Once your surgeon decides to start adjusting your band, then you'll feel what IT can do. And it may take several adjustments to get you to that "green zone" you'll hear some many describe. Hang tough....it gets MUCH better!
  11. Registered for the Alton, IL Half Marathon again next year on March 21st 2015. I ran this one this past March as my first HM, and would love to be able to sneak in under 2:00 this time. I'm also planning on running the St. Louis Rock N Roll Marathon in Oct of 2015. That'll be my first full...YIKES!
  12. Glad to see that things are going well for you Terry! Congrats!
  13. Maybe try spinning (cycling) or the elliptical for getting your endurance back up to where you want it. Get your HR at the low end of your target range and gradually work it up over a month or so. This may help with the leg pain, while building your endurance back up. As far as pre workout drinks, there are so many different ones....with different goals. I'd suggest talking to someone at a GNC/Supplement Superstore type place and let them know what you're looking for. They should have lots of suggestions... Carbs, etc... Just my $.02, Good luck!

  15. I broke down and put my bike in the trainer in the den today. I was really wanting to ride outside today but I could see my breath. Watched the lunacy in Ferguson while spinning my wheels. .... How ironic.
  16. I'm 5+ years post op and I use New Whey Liquid Protein shots at times. 42 grams in 3 ounces. They aren't fantastic tasting but who cares. ... It's 3 ounces. Hold your nose and "enjoy"!
  17. Great job and glad to see some new and familar faces on here. And my Tar Heel fav! (Has anybody besides me noticed how UK is this year...ha!) I'm finally back to my "normal" schedule after 9 weeks of 72-75 hours per week. Spent a much needed week on vacation two weeks ago in New Orleans/Mexico. Was a great time! One of those all you can stand to drink packages...and I got my $$$ worth let me tell ya! Decided a nice slow long run would be fun today in a breezy, 39*F weather. First longer run in a while and it felt good! Happy Monday all! http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/639221800
  18. Great job Bandista! I wish you much continued success.
  19. Congrats and best wishes on your continued success!
  20. Congrats!!!!! The desire to acheive a PR time, distance, or event is addicting.....one step at a time. Best wishes on your upcoming Turkey Trot! David A nice mist/light rain and about 40 degrees is my favorite time to run.....OUTSIDE! I do not have fun on treadmills....I run outside probably 98% of the time. Last winter, in 20-25* weather....shorts and longsleeve shirt, headband and mittens....Tunes blarring in my ears....a real sight to see I'm sure. ENJOY your runs!
  21. I just seen this followup post....Glad to hear you are continuing to search for answers as to WHY YOUR BAND ISN'T WORKING the way it should. I gained weight TOO, when mine came unbuckled.....but then again....why wouldn't I? I had reverted to eating too much....A footlong subway one time and a whopper from BK.....I knew it wasn't on "the plan". But I had surgery to fix all that....or so I thought. I don't succeed by dieting, watching calories, self portion control, etc. My band has to dictate my portions....LONGTERM. I gained over 30 pounds in the months mine wasn't working. I didn't go to my surgeon for over a year, because I was embarrassed.....bad mistake. I still don't know the answer to this in your case....Does the fluoro show restriction of the barium? On mine, when my band came unbuckled, my doctor could easily see it. And like you say about yours....my surgeon HAD done over a 1000 lapbands. I was the first one he'd ever had that happen to. Lucky me! LOL. IF....IF your's turns out to be a similar issue, my experience went like this: For me, he got me scheduled for surgery ASAP....he was ready to get me in the next day!....I was in and out of the hospital in about 4 hours. And my band has worked great ever since. So as you may see me refer to on here....I've never had any "band" caused problems. Mine was an installation "issue" we think. Correctly installed bands shouldn't come unbuckled....per my surgeon, Who I consider a GREAT doctor...and friend. Best wishes and I hope you find the issue and get it corrected asap. Keep us updated! David
  22. I'm guessing here, but you had "open type surgery" for your lapband? No staples for my lapband surgery....just some superglue type adhesive, if I recall correctly. But I had hip surgery with staples ( A LOT OF THEM! ) years ago, and it did not hurt me at all when they removed them. Best wishes!
  23. Here's one site. Have fun! http://www.active.com/houston-tx/running/5k?sort=date_asc
  24. This thread makes me smile....(not in a demeaning way!), but just in a reflecting kind of way. I've been banded a little over 5 years now, and I remember well my learning (stuck) times. My surgeon didn't want me eating bread, so that wasn't my problem food. Things like brussel sprouts, slab type red meat, and a very few others. After starting to get some restriction, I realized that I had a couple of options. One, go get some Fluid taken out so I could eat what I wanted.....and how I was used to eating pre-band. Two, continue to eat foods too fast, not chew enough and be uncomfortable getting stuck followed by PB'ing. Three, learn to eat slower and chew much better.....AND just give up some foods....forever. I chose the third option. It can take a while to learn what works best for each individual. But most of us have been through that learning phase. Best wishes and much success to you!
