Sharing non-scale victories - 5 months out..
Hello to each of you!! Yes, it is quite a good feeling when you realize that things are changing, and not just the numbers on the scale! Looks like everyone is enjoying success...keep it up! Those I am noticing are: **I can cross my legs!! Haven't done that in YEARS!! **My feet are shrinking in width...hehehe...reason to go shoe shopping! **I am not tugging at my clothes where they are too tight and bunching up on me. **I can wear my rings again too! **I can go up two flights of stairs now without nearly passing out. **Much, much more energy! I am feeling sooooo much better these days, I feel like going out and doing things I haven't done in a very long time. I am so happy that I decided to have the surgery to give me my life back!! Best wishes to all.....

Help please! Nightime eating out of control
Yes, I too could have written this!! Only difference being that I do really well all week with exercising and meals, but the weekends are killers! I find myself mindlessly grazing on food when I am NOT hungry.....guess this would be head hunger?? I am also finding that I am eating larger portions, not a good thing either. I am scheduled for another fill tomorrow and hope that will help me get back on track. Best wishes to all........ Ann

How did you all tell your family?
Well, I have to say that I did not tell "everyone" either. I am very happy with that decision. I still have not told my mother or brother and being that they are 1500 miles away, I see no need to. While I have told them that I am losing weight and have quit smoking, I did not tell them about my surgery. I have told some people at work, but only those that I knew would support me and encourage me. My husband has been my biggest supporter and motivator through all this. I did this for me, not anyone else and you are doing this for YOU. Good luck with your journey!

Have anyone tried Wii Fit?
I LOVE my Wii Fit!! Bought it "for the family" for Christmas, and we all love it!! Gets all of us up off the couch and moving, not to mention trying to outscore each other.....alot of fun!! I do my Wii Fit most EVERY morning before work, and walk most every afternoon on my way home from work. I have not heard about the new Fit game coming out in May, does anyone have any details about it?? I just ordered "My Fitness Coach", someone was recommendign it on another thread, and thought I would give it a try too. Oh, and I have never been a "gamer" either....

New Wii Fit games?
WOW!! Good for you DebbieGail.....that's what it is all about, just do somehting!! I too feel this is the best thing I could have done for myself. I try to do at least 30 minutes every morning before getting anyone else up and going to work. I try to walk every afternoon on my way home from work too, if I come home first, I would never get back out! =) Keep up the good work! Ann

New Wii Fit games?
I L-O-V-E my Wii Fit!! It is awesome..........have not heard about any new game coming out in May for it, but would be interested though. Also plan to look at "My Fitness Coach" again, that may be something fun to try next. Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend.....Ann

Could everyone feel your port?
I am glad all went well with your fill today!

What should restriction feel like??
Thanks so much for all the replies.....I can always count on getting the information I am looking for! I cannot eat anywhere near what I used to, not by a long shot! I am not snacking, and my meals are holding me about 4 hours. I mentioned that I had my last fill a week ago this past Friday, each day seems I may be getting tighter....is that possible?? Think I should wait another few days before going back in for another fill....do y'all agree?? Thanks......
-
Could everyone feel your port?
Don't worry about it, I still cannot feel mine either. However, I have had two fills one by the surgeon and one by his assistant, both were able to access my port first try, no problems. They really do know what they are doing!! Good luck........

Walmart & Death Bites (aka Popcorn chicken)
Hello to all.....I have to be honest, I had not given any thought to something like this happening out...in public!! It's one thing to be miserable at home...... Yikes, thanks for all the posts, now I will try to be more mindful of what and how I eat in public. Jennibells, hope after you got yourself together, you and your friends had a GREAT evening out....=) Makulafamy, thanks for bringing this to my attention!

What should restriction feel like??
 Would someone please tell me what true "restriction" feels like? I was banded in February and have had two fills. I sometimes feel like I have some restriction, but still seem to be able to eat quite a lot. I don't want to get too tight, but I want to use this tool the way it should be used.........please help me determine what this feeling should be. Thanks!

Walmart & Death Bites (aka Popcorn chicken)
 Well, let me tell you what I did yesterday. I baked a whole chicken and roasted some root vegetables for our dinner. The chicken was VERY moist, but guess what I just had to have a bite of?? Yes, the skin!! UCK!! I will never do that again.....after feeling it just sit there for several minutes I began to slime like never before. Finally I threw up and threw up. I was just banded in February and this was the first time I had actually thrown up. Kinda scared me, feel okay today, have taken it easy on what I have eaten. Don't know if I am sore from the wretching or if I could have " messed something up" in there. Any chance I could have done any damage to my band?? Thanks!

 I was banded February 5, 2009. I am doing GREAT!! I feel great and I have so much more energy. I am very happy with my decision to have the surgery, no regrets what-so-ever (except I wish I had done it sooner). I am very pleased with the weight loss so far, I walk and/or do my Wii fit every day. WOW!! What a difference just a few weeks can make. Have you had a chance to look the meetings up yet on the web site? Ann

They did have all the groups (days and times) listed on their website. I know the one I have gone to is for those that have been banded as well as those thinking about it or waiting to have it done. Seems to be a well rounded group--no pun intended! LOL...... If you like that kind of thing, I would suggest coming. For me it helps me stay motivated even though I have a strong support network at home and at work. Good luck on your appointment Monday. I KNOW how exciting it is to be going and getting the ball rolling........

Yes, I did have to pay my full deductible before having surgery. I had already planned on doing so, so it wasn't a total surprise. I have been back to the office once, had one band fill and will go back this Friday to have a fill done in the office. These three visits are covered under my "surgery package" and have not had to pay anything for these. You are off to a good start with losing the 8 pounds! Remember this is all about lifestyle changes, so every little thing you change will bring results. Have you gone to any of the support groups yet?

Sparkpeople
Hey there.....I go to Sparkpeople all the time. Love the articles they email me and I am forever checking out new recipes on that site. I really like it. Do you visit the site too? What do you like about it? Where are you in Louisianna? I am originally form Jackson MS and my brother lives in Baton Rouge.....small world! Best wishes, Ann:cool2:

Congratulations Ellisfan!! Schroder did my surgery, but the group is just GREAT! All I have ever paid for a visit is my regular co-pay amount. Good luck......:crying:

Chickened Out
Hey Carol Anne, when you are ready, you will know it. I took over two years before I finally made my decision to go through with the surgery. I read about it, went to support meetings, talked about it and changed my mind about (alot) it in those two years! I think I was afraid that I wouldn't succeed, that I didn't have what it takes to make the changes that I knew I needed to make. LOL...... Anyway, when I decided I was truely ready to make the committment to this new way of life, I did it. I am so thrilled with the results so far and I feel so much better physically and mentally. I have no regrets, and I am sure you will be the same when you are ready! Best wishes...........Ann

Will I ever get restriction?????
Have to say I am somewhat disappointed, had my first fill this past Friday and I feel nothing! Zip, zilch! He put in 3.7, but I swear I have eatten more in the last two days than I have in a long time. I am hungry now....... He told me to give the fill some time, and if necessary come back in. Is it too soon to call them and see about getting another fill? I have lost 50# since being banded, certainly don't want to start heading in the wrong direction. Help!!

Hey Kristil, glad to hear that you will be coming to the group next month too! You and I are close together on our banding dates too....we can compare notes (I got a Realize band too)! I am really excited, I go tomorrow for my first fill, I am ready because I can easily eat more than the 4 oz I am supposed to. Were you doing that before your first fill? Can you tell a difference (big or small) since your fill? Talk to you later...... Ann =)

Hey there Maw....that sounds like a good idea. Actually, I went to the meeting Monday night at St. Mary's and enjoyed it. They had a plastic surgeon from Williamsburg there and forund what he had to say very informative. I know that I am not any where near ready to start thinking about having anything done, but nice to get some good, first hand information! I want to start going to this meeting every month, let me know if you will be going next month too. Take care.......=)

I was banded 2-9-2009 by Dr. Schroder. L-O-V-E my band! I chose the Realize band because of the online support website they offer, and because I liked the fell of it and the port better. So far, so good. To date I have lost 42 pounds and have not had my first fill yet, that will be this coming Friday, March 13th. Cannot wait!! =) Good luck, and by the way, I live in Hanover County!
