Hi Everyone - Is anyone still on WW with the band? I still am. Why don't we start posting again?

Hi Monica - Glad to have you onboard! Diva - Do you have access to the online WW site? If so, read the section on "filling foods technique". It is band friendly as you stop eating when satisfied. When counting points, I would want to finish what I had in front of me. Points is a great technique, just not for me. Maybe that's the map you are looking for!

Hey China and Diva, I am glad you girls are checking in. We need a safe place to be able to vent. China - I am sorry that your finances are taking a hit...that sucks! I am an emotional eater and therefore would be eating alot right now. However, after the icecream is gone, the pain is still there. It is hard to let go of coping strategies...I think I will always want to cope with food. Diva - I am amazed with your perserverance. You never give up and are an ispiration to me. I have been following the "simply filling technique" for four days. I like it better than counting points right now. When I am hungry, I eat from the filling foods and stop when I am satisfied. So far, so good. With points, I am constantly thinking about food and I eat when I am not hungry because I have points left. When I overeat, I want to eat more...then the cycle begins. I don't think I will weigh weekly either. It stresses me out...maybe once a month instead. IDK, we'll see what happens. Take care girls, have a peaceful week.

Hi Everyone, I have been really struggling with counting points and sticking to the WW plan. I was obsessing about how many points I had left and thinking about food all day I was going to quit and felt really discouraged. While I was looking on the WW website I came across the filling points technique. You eat from the filling foods list, eat when hungry and stop when satisfied. This has been working better for me as I don't obsess about food as much. I am encouraged so far. How is everyone doing? One step at a time...

Hi Everyone, It has been a horrible few weeks. I have been in the hospital following an accident which caused some broken ribs. Ouch...this is VERY painful! I had to be on painkillers around the clock. I am feeling much better now but it will take awhile before I am totally healed. As far as WW is concerned, I have not been eating much...sleeping more. I have been weighing in on Saturdays so this Saturday will be my first WW meeting in 3 weeks. My scale says I dropped 5 lbs. but I am sure that had to do with all the sleep and non-eating I was doing. I will post my results when I return. It feels great to be back!

Hi Diva and Scorpio, I think you are right about the protein shakes...solid food would probably be better with the band. I followed the food plan on Tuesday...didn't on Wednesday...but I refuse to give up. Diva you really keep me focused. I think I will make that taco soup tomorrow (Wednesday). I will check in tomorrow.

    Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread

Welcome, rebellerina! As I am starting a new year at school, I was thinking about my food plan and times of the day when I could eat my meals. Even though I would like to be flexible and spontaneous in my eating, history will show that this just leads to me grazing all day and then eventually bingeing. I have resisted planning all of my life and it has lead me to the state I am in...obese! As I turned 50 this year, I decided to let go of my inner rebellious child and focus on what is good for me. As far as eating and exercising is concerned, I think a plan is best. I came up with this, please let me know what you think? I am looking for feedback and support.....THANKS! 6 - 7:30AM: 16 oz water meds EAS protein shake and coffee OR latte ( 3 points ) 8:45AM: 8 oz water 5 points 12:30PM: 8 oz water 5 points 3:30PM: 8 oz water (gym - MWF) EAS protein shake ( 2 points ) 6:30 - 7PM: 8 oz water 9 points meds Athough this is a rigid schedule for me, I think it may help with food issues as I won't have to think about it...it may free me up a bit. What do you think? Please comment. ONE DAY AT A TIME!

Sberry - Welcome to the group. Diva was so great to start this thread! Diva - I love reading your posts...you give me hope and alot of ideas with food. Denise - I think it is all right if you don't finish your meal. As long as you don't go over your points you are fine. The food plan that my nutritionist gave me probably doesn't equal anywhere near the 24pts. that ww says I can have. My band is quite loose at the moment and that is why I can eat my points ( and more so ). Crzytcher - I am assuming you are a teacher...are you back at school yet? I start next Monday and am concerned about the amount of food in the teacher's room.... Kristine - good for you for following this program while in college. Congrats on your .4lb loss. Scorpio - You and I seem to be playing the same game. I have been playing with my points and eating too much. Back to points tomorrow...I will not give up. China - Your points seem low but your band might be at a good restriction. I need a fill ASAP! Well I am going to try to follow my points tomorrow. I WILL NOT GIVE UP!
  11. I am going to use the 5 day pouch test plan to help me get back on track this week. I am also hoping that I will respect the size of my pouch and not stretch it by eating large portions by the end of this plan. Wish me luck.....Thanks!

Hi Diva and thanks for the warm welcome! I was able to stick to my points yesterday and it was great. I could not believe that I wasn't hungry...I was always hungry before on WW. It makes me want to run into my meeting and tell everyone to get the Lapband because you will be able to stay fuller, longer! I put my weight (210) into the profile points quiz and it came out to 24pts. With the extra weekly points, I think it will be enough. I plan on using those 35 pts! I will be checking onto this thread daily and listing what I ate...That will help me with accountability. So far: Meal 1: EAS Protein shake (2) Atkins Bar (3) I will check back in at the end of the day I'm back.. Meal 2: movie popcorn (10) WOW! Vitamin Water 10 (1) Meal 3: hot dog (6) roll (1) corn (1) rice (2) Meal 4: brownie (5) icecream (9) 40 pts. today!! YIKES, I was on a carbfest! Tomorrow is another day..... Way to go on your weight loss, China. Scorpio, your day looked yummy.

Hi all, I joined WW on Tuesday as I felt I needed more structure to lose more weight. I too thought that WW + band = weight loss. The problem was that I didn't think the members would be too happy if I told them I was banded...I thought they would think it was cheating or something like that. Then I stumbled on this thread and I am thrilled! I can be honest about my band and WW here . Thank you to whomever started this support thread. I hope I am not too late to join! According to the points quiz I get 24pts/day plus 35 extra weekly pts.

  16. I drink protein shakes, very slowly, after my fills. I was not, however, told by my physician to drink only clear liquids. Maybe your fill was more than I usually get.

Full on 1/2 banana...............gotta love it! Finally making friends with my band.

    why lap band?

I did not want the malabsorption that comes with the gastric bypass. When I get older I want to be able to absorb what I need (medications and such). There is a thread regarding The Gastric Sleeve surgery. This is not a malabsorption option as well. Good luck with your decision.
  22. Vikki - We are all set. You are my first lap band friend :) Did you have your surgery yet?

    Emotional Eating

Your therapist is right. The band does not help with emotional eating. It does, however, slow you down a bit so that you can become more aware of what you are doing. It will allow you to become fuller faster and dim your appetite a bit. Good luck with your decision.

    Emergency advice needed...

CALL YOUR SURGEON ASAP! All the advice you have been getting here is right on!
  25. Were you told that you had to eat your food over an hour. I was told to measure out my food, eat it, and walk away. It is probably very hard to make mushies last for an hour. Maybe you should check with you doc and see if he/she really meant that. Good luck.
