Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1
I didn't think about not really being hungry after being banded. I have my fingers crossed! Welcome Suzdavis! I love the idea of no candy for Easter. My kids are both super young (almost 20 months and 2 and a half months) so they aren't really into candy yet. I think that's a great tradition to start!

We probably couldn't afford the bodybugg either, but I thought it was cool. Groupie my pre-op is 15 days and post op meals as well for another 15. At day 8 post op I can start adding in mushy foods. Still have shakes, drinks, and jello to take then though.

Have you seen the Biggest Loser? They wear something similiar, if not the same thing, to measure calories that you burn throughout the day.

Thanks Pharmagirl! And congrats Jessica on starting now! Good for you! I cheated way too much the past few weeks to even think about dieting. I think every think I wanted I pretty much ate... including a couple of mini Cadbury eggs! My hubby always gets me an Easter basket which is all candy so I told him he's going to have to find a new filler! I sent him an email with some Protein drink ideas and a link to the Bodybugg calorie counter. Hope everyone has a great day!

I've got say this liquid diet stuff is hard! Today I've got the headache, which I'm sure is because of the caffeine withdrawal. Sucks! I'm on the bettermd.com packets. I have 3 pudding/shakes a day, one soup, one cool drink, and one fiber drink a day. They're ok. Not really good though. It's toughest to feed my family dinner. I'm also an emotional eater especially when I'm alone. My hubby is in school and I'm on maternity leave. So right now I know I can't eat anything and I REFUSE to cheat like some people of said they do. It's good though because it's making me face the reality of why I overeat. I've been chewing lots of gum and drinking tons of water! All I keep thinking is I have to do this for 20+ more days?! But you know what the next thought is? That is 3.4 lbs. I will never see again! Every pound off will be the last time I see that number.... the last time I have to feel the hunger for that pound... the end of the two hundreds.... the beginning of finding onederland!

Jessica, I can relate to what Pharmagirl said. I've lost a significant amount of weight and of course put it back on again. I do not know how to not overeat. This surgery is going to be my tool to help me not do that to finally succeed at keeping the weight off. Welcome new bunnies! I weighed this morning and was down! YEAH!

Thanks for the encouragement Ling! I will be looking forward to day 5. :rolleyes2: And you're right, it will definitely be worth it. Have you guys checked out the before and after pictures? WOW! They are amazing. I can't imagine being a size 22/24 now and ended up a 6! It always seemed impossible, but now.... Well here they are as embarrassing as they are. I put these with tight clothes on rather then regular because these show it all!

Ldeere we've got the same surgery date! I am really hungry after all of this today. Chewing some gum right now. I'm only eating the supplements at this point... I might have to add some of the extra liquid "options" on my list! Water is just not too tasty. ha ha ha

Good for you Thin Within! And you have a remarkable story about your son. What a blessing! It's always encouraging to hear stories of fertility success. I've got a friend who has been trying for several years and I always like to try to help her through her difficult journey. Well dh took pictures of me tonight:thumbdown: Not real pretty, but there's only room to go down! Right! I took all of my measurements too. So I can't wait to report how I'm doing soon. I am not brave enough to post the pictures... yet! Once I'm down some I will show you how big I WAS!

Thin Within... I wasn't sure how much I was suppose to weigh, so I looked it up. I'm 5'7 so it said the low side was 143. I made that my goal, but do realize 1) that's going to take awhile 2) I might look too skinny at that weight 3) I might just be more comfortable at 150... not that far away, but what I had in mind.

April Bandsters?
Well I am getting banded on April 7th! Anyone else? I'm excited and nervous, but know that the future is going to be terrific! I've got nutrition class this Thursday, pre-surgery admission stuff on the 11th, and start the liquid diet for 2 weeks starting on the 19th. Time is going to fly! Does anyone remember where the post was about what to get/bring before the surgery? Andrea

Anyone have a spouse who doesn't/didn't want you to get banded?
Well we've talked lots about it and I think he's starting to agree it would be a good thing. I'm trying to get him to do it with me now!

What should I do in preparation for surgery?
Thanks for the advice! We just have to stop buying the stupid pop! ha ha ha I gave up caffeine for a year, I think I can do pop. So is Crystal Light the best stuff out there?

What should I do in preparation for surgery?
I'm not sure when my surgery will be. Hopefully in May or June. I haven't been approved yet for surgery. So what should I do in preparation for the surgery? I love sugar, carbs, and pop. I tend to eat fast food too much. I'm not working out, but I'm planning to try to as soon as I'm 6 weeks postpartum from my c-section. Do you have any advice for me? I really really want to give up the pop. Any other helpful hints that helped you lose more quickly? TIA!

Did any of you have a doctor that was against the surgery?
Yep, he wanted to run a cholestrol check/bloodwork. Then he's going to send it in. The only thing I have right now is hypertension, but he's never run any bloodwork on me before. I'll be curious to see what happens with it. Thanks for all of your support.

Did any of you have a doctor that was against the surgery?
I am just afraid that he is going to say I need to document weight loss with him for at least 6 months. We haven't really tried anything together. This is going to be a really good time for me to do the wls because I have the summers off from teaching.

Did any of you have a doctor that was against the surgery?
So the bariatric center called me today and told me the only thing they are waiting on is my doctor's release/approval. I've got an appt with him tomorrow. I'm kinda nervous about it. He and I talked about it last spring and then I ended up pregnant. I can tell he's not all about wls. Did any of you have a doctor who was against the surgery? Will they do my surgery if he doesn't approve?

Let me hear what your post op diet was like from week to week....
So does most of the weight come off quickly from the liquid diet? What's the key to losing consistently after that?
-
Let me hear what your post op diet was like from week to week....
It sounds like the weight loss can really vary from person to person. Is the liquid stage the hardest? Are you hungry alot?

Let me hear what your post op diet was like from week to week....
Just curious what you ate after the surgery. How long on mushies? When/or did you ever eat semi-normal again? I'd love to hear the different stories please! TIA! Andrea
