My NSV Very Exciting
Wow....pretty cool. Congrats and keep up the great work.

What is your pirate name?
I am Evil Maggie....Hmmmm, an Irish pirate sounds kinda silly.

Almost there I think....
My approval letter was similar to yours. It said I was approved but the total amount they would end up paying would be determined after the surgery. They ending up taking care of everything except for the deductible and out of pocket. And sometimes, weight loss surgery aftercare isn't covered at the same percentages as regular medical visits. Congratulations on your approval.

I may be sorry for asking this..........
I am only 3 months out. I had some trouble at the start....my stomach was so swollen that nothing would go through, not even water, which led to exhaustion and dehydration. The dehydration led to a trip to the ER with kidney stones (all within a month). But now, I feel really good. I was definately the exception with my complications. I have gotten to know my band and how my body reacts to it. I am 42 pounds down and am amazed and excited everytime the scale drops. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone that is considering it. And let them know that it is work, but the rewards are fantastic.

Wedding Band ~ How loose is yours?
I can finally wear mine again. It has been in the jewelry box for such a long time.

favorite protien drink
I finally found one that I can drink. It tastes like watered down cocoa. If I make it really thin (about 8 oz water), it goes down pretty fast. And no protein aftertaste. It is "Designer Whey", chocolate, of course. I found it at super supplements.

Our support group in Tacoma, WA does a clothing exchange two times a year. I am excited that I have a couple of boxes to contribute. Keep up the great work everyone.

Cool NSV for me.....
Today is jeans day at work. I had a man that I work with tell me that if I keep getting smaller I am going to blow away. He also commented that "If he wasn't married............." and left it at that. I am tickled. And, don't worry about harrassment, we are a really close knit group here. The coolest part is....this is the first time I have worn these jeans. I purposely bought them over 4th of July weekend in a smaller size and OHMYGOSH!!! They fit me today. YIPPEE!!!

Scheduled to be banded July 12, 2006, Maybe.....
Jessica, Don't cancel your appointment. The procedure is the easy part. I couldn't keep my weight down either and it kept creeping up. I, too, felt I was a loser and knew that this was something that I had to do for me. I didn't find this site until after my surgery. Everyone here is sooooooooo supportive because they know exactly how you are feeling. I was up and around a few hours after surgery. You are a good person. You will be in our thoughts on your surgery day. Keep your chin up and we will see you soon in "bandland" Smiles.

Best and worst reactions to telling people you were banded?
I haven't had any bad reactions. I am open with what I did and if people have a hard time accepting it, that is up to them. I didn't do this for them, I did it for myself. But I have told one person (my overly-opinionated grandmother) that I didn't ask her for her opinion and she hasn't said one thing about the band since then. I do know someone who is very private and he just told everyone he did the South Beach Diet. So you can tell people anything you want to tell them (or not tell them). Just stay true to yourself and what makes you feel the best. Smiles.

Thirtysomething's
Hi everyone. I am 36 and have a wonderful son. He has been my strength through this as I had some complications at the beginning. Things are going well now. I was banded on April 28, 2006 by Dr. Earl Fox in Tacoma, Washington. I have lost 35 pounds so far. I have hit a plateau (bummer). I have had one fill and I am scheduled for the second one on July 11th. Let's all keep up the great work. Keep smiling.

Experienced Bandsters, what are your tricks of the trade?
Wow...at least I am not the only one that has taken an intense interest in the food network.

Problems swallowing calcium capsules?!
I got a liquid calcium at Costco. It doesn't taste to bad straight out of the bottle, but it does taste good when mixed with Crystal Light. I got the ok from the doc. May want to check that out.

April 2006 Bandsters - Running weight loss totals
Hi Bostongurl... Would you please add me? I was banded April 28 and down 35 pounds. Thanks.

Restless Leg Syndrome
I have RLS and I take ReQuip. It is a little pill and doesn't get stuck. I will have to say that since my banding, the late nights have gotten fewer and farther between but every once in a while, I still need a bit of help. No side effects from Requip for me.

Frustrated - Looking for Support
My fill was the 8th of June. I had plateaued about a week and a half before that. I only felt restriction on the first day and still do sometimes in the mornings. I still have not lost any weight since my plateau. And to top it all off, I have "cankles" now. My feet are soooooo swollen, I don't fit any of my shoes. The doc says no diuretics because he wants me to have Water in me and not to take a pill to get rid of the water. I am reading everyone's fantastic stories about their loss. I feel I am climbing a mountain and just can't get over the top. I am feeling a tiny bit hopeless today. :faint: Thanks to everyone for all of your support. This is a fabulous community to be a part of.

Plateaus
I am at a plateau right now and it is the same weight I held for quite a while. It has been about 3 weeks and I am so ready to start losing again. What can we do to jump start our weight loss again?
-
Losing "body", not weight
Hi all.....so I have been on a plateau for about 2.5 weeks. I had my first fill on June 8 at 2.25cc. I feel a bit of restriction (not tons) and I am careful as to what I eat. So...the phoenomena (sp?) for me is.....how can I be dropping in clothes sizes and not be losing pounds on the scale?? Numbers seem to be big for the doc too as he seems to think I will eventually have my band filled to capacity (5cc). Can any of you pro-bandsters shed some light on this for me? Thanks in advance for the information.
