  1. I was going to say lucky you, but I think it's a case of the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence! BC I wish I had a little more restriction with my fill to 4cc's...I can't feel much of a difference yet. Just think that you have more restriction than me...so you get more use out of your band!
  2. Heck...enter as a walker! I am doing my first 5k April 4th, entering as a walker. Its got me totally motivated. For me...its a HUGE deal. Before my surgery (which was only 6 weeks ago), I wouldnt walk to blocks if I could drive it instead. I loathed walking! But we found a beautiful path to walk and I feel so good afterwards! PLUS, it helped me bc when I started eating mushies and real food, I gained 3 pounds and was stuck there for a few weeks. Now I walk 3-4 times a week for about 55 minutes. Rock on! You can do it!
  3. WOW! Thanks for sharing all that information. It helps those of us still in the early stages! Congrats on your progress!
  4. I was six weeks out, but I have been on soft-regular food for a couple of weeks. Its always interesting to see how docs are so different.
  5. Thanks Kiz! I know...five minutes baaaad. thanks again for the reply. what is your current CC situation?
  6. lol...that made me laugh. I dig it! I had my first fill yesterday, was supposed to be on clears for 2 days and then mushies. I guess I was also supposed to be on clears for 2 days prior, but I was on full liquids. I didnt know, but when the doc and I were talking yesterday I said...oops, I have been on creamy Soups...he said that's fine. ANYWHOOO, I ate a small Wendys chili today in like 5 minutes flat. Didnt feel any different to me.
  7. This is coo-coo to me for a couple of reasons. Its odd you would get your first fill before you and your body have a chance to find out how you handle regular food. That's one of the ways my doc figured out how much to fill me (first time yesterday). He asked if red meat, chicken, etc was going down just fine. Then he asked if I could eat a sandwhich no problem. When I said yes...he said, OKAY, we are giving you 4ccs girl! I said good! 10 days seems like it's just setting you up for failure and serious hunger! For me, when someone tells me I CANT eat something, my brain starts thinking cheat, cheat, cheat. Its better if I tell myself (or am told) you should be careful...or you should make better choices. If I feel like I have a choice, then I choose good things...but if you tell me I have no choice...I start thinking ranch dressing, cheetos, hot dogs, etc.
  8. Good morning, afternoon, or evening! I had my first fill yesterday and I am on mushies today. I had a small Wendy's chili for lunch. I was possessed, and at it in about 5 minutes:scared2: I didnt have any problem with it at all. I have 4ccs in a 10ish cc band. I was just wondering...bc I know quite a few people eat this Chili...with proper restriction would you have a problem eating it that fast? Or because its soft...it would give you weird feeling? Thanks in advance!
  9. If you don't want to tell people, I would give them this simple reply: "I won a trip to Africa. The deal is, I couldnt tell anyone where I was, bc I was really working undercover for the CIA. Do you remember that day you called me and it went straight to voicemail? Anyways, I was in Africa at that very moment. I went swimming under a waterfall, bc thats where the secret door to the bunker was. Long story short...I ended up getting this tapeworm...its called Ubershrinkmypantsolis....Its going to be feautured on an upcoming episode of "holy crap" on TLC....so, its all due to a tape worm. Dont hate". :crying: For real though, I just tell people if they ask. Of course, I am pretty much an open book. if you dont like my tape worm idea, the others had pretty good responses!
  10. I called the doc about a week after surgery bc I hadnt heard that we couldnt use straws. He said that I could give it a shot. He said for some people it gives them a "too much air" feeling, but that it wouldnt hurt anything...just might be uncomfy. I dont drink from straws though...so I can't tell you how it makes me feel.
  11. I am going to ask my doc tomorrow to explain it to me a little more. I hope everything goes more smoothly for you! Thanks for sharing so we can be more informed.
  12. I was only a few weeks post op when the weight loss stopped and moved up a few pounds. As a walking hater...I hate to say it, but when I exercise the weight starts to come off again. I cant help you on the food getting stuck part yet, I dont get filled until Thursday. You might be exercising (you just didnt mention it) so I thought I would throw that out.
  13. Just curious, did he explain what happened to the stitches he put in around the band? My doc puts a few stitches around the band to help prevent slipping...holds it in place. I am assuming yours did the same. Did they break? Rip, etc?
  14. Sure! I love to blog..course I love to talk...so what's the difference? I havent shared the blog with my family though...just in case I want to vent about them in the future! But its a good way to share with other people who are going through the same thing as me. I have "met" some great people that way. My blog address is in my signature!
  15. Well, I am a recovering sunkist addict (hence the name of my blog:rolleyes:), so when I started doing the SF koolaid packs during pre-op, I used the to replace the sunkist. And it worked really well! I loved the SF packets when I was eating...so I used a lot at mealtime also. But post-op, I find when I use them...I want to eat something with them. maybe something salty to counteract the sweetness...or perhaps I am just weird. BC they are so sweet to me...they became "too much" for my tastebuds or something. I find it easier to get my Water when its just plain. Does that help?
  16. It is what my nutritionist recommends if you get bored with water. You can do Krystal light, sf koolaid packs etc. I drank the heck out of them preop, but for some reason...they are too much for me postop!
  17. You got that one right Harold! It will could inflate the pouch...stretch it out...etc.
  18. hola and welcome! This is totally normal and totally sucks! LOL (I sound like a valley girl...totally) I got real discouraged. I was banded on Jan. 27th, lost 20 pounds the few weeks preop, etc. Then....once I started putting solids (mushies, etc) back in my mouth SCREEEEECHing hault. That damn scale froze. THEN, it went up 3 pounds. So, I listened to everyone on here and started moving more! We have been walking now and I have started losing again. Slowly...but as long as its moving down...thats all I need. My first fill is Thursday, so I look forward to hopefully filling a little restriction after that. Good luck.
  19. Oh, it gets worse...NOT the hunger though. I dont know what your doc told you, but I was supposed to have 3-5 Protein shakes a day to fight off hunger. Real bandster hell is once you get to mushies and real food...and you have no restriction...so you COULD eat everything you wanted, but you have to use your WILLPOWER until you get your first fill. Willpower? What's that.... This too shall pass though. We've all made it through (for the most part). So, see if you can up your protein shakes. Again, once I was on full liquids, I was supposed to do 3-5 protein shakes in addition to Soups 3 times a day. I was so hungry and lathargic that I asked my doc if I could move to the next stage a little early and he gave me the go ahead. You can do it!
  20. Maybe it likes your bootie and refuses to admit defeat. LOL :tt1: Well, if it starts singing Sir mix-a-lot (I like big butts and I cannot lie) I will know for sure:tongue:
  21. Heather, how far along are you?
  22. "Will you write a love note to your scale when it does tell you what you want to hear? lol" Funny! I will have to think about that. I dont want it to get too full of itself. Maybe its upset bc I wasnt kind enough to it during my pre-op diet when it was behaving sooo well! OR, maybe I should be thanking it for reminding me to get up and move my bootie more (which I have been doing). But...that wouldnt be as funny.:hurray:
  23. I think we should all write letters to our scales. It's kind of theraputic! A catharsis of sorts. Here is mine: Dear scale, I am writing this letter to let you know that I hate you. I think we should break up. I don't like your honesty. Can't you sugarcoat things for me? I mean what's a few pounds less once in awhile? We have talked about this before...but NO, you continue to show me what I don't want to see. I know we have been together for awhile. This might be hard on you. Deal with it buddy. I don't want to have to go all Jerry Springer on your ass. I am sorry you have had to live right by the litterbox. But space is limited. Perhaps we can get together on the moon. Where you will show me the numbers I long to see. Until then, Your ex-friend, Amy P.S. Um....okay, so you know I am not getting rid of you. But, Oprah said we need to share our feelings with each other. :hurray:
  24. This was what I was going to write also! Once I had my shirt pulled over the unbuckled belt, and this princess of a male flight attendant asked very loudly if I needed an extension. I said yes...and took the damn thing with me! I hide it in my bra now when I board a plane. When I was a sophmore in high school, a group of senior boys always picked on me. I was outgoing, and had lots of friends, and for some reason...I think I scared them. Fat girls weren't supposed to be happy. I was always in dance. We were getting ready to perform at half time of a basketball game and we were dancing to some James Brown song. We started on our knees, sort of balled up. In the formation, I was right in front of the student section...and the front row was full of the senior boys. The crowd was quiet and the music hadnt started yet. All of a sudden, the boys started chanting "two lunches, two lunches". That is what they called me...two lunches (implying that I ate two lunches). It was one of the most painful embarrasing moments of my life. I finished dancing. And that was the last year I danced for the school. It's the only time I let me weight affect me to the point that I gave up something I loved. Dont worry now. I am sure that those guys are all fat bald losers, with small who who's! :tt2:
  25. I wrote a letter to my scale...letting it know that I was unhappy with it's performance lately. I call it: A Letter to the Devil...here it is. Dear Scale, I am writing this letter to let you know that I hate you. :tt2:
