    question about PCOS and band

Well finally, now I know why I have felt so strange about my body. I have PCOS. I have had these problems my whole life and thought I was just different. I have been reading everything I can, before I get my lapband. I was wondering what PCOS was so I started reading this group and OMG finally a label for what I have been trying to hide for years. My question is has the lap band made a difference with your syptoms? And any advice you can give me about anything before I do get my band would be apperciated. Kimberly
  2. I'm just starting out on my journey to getting the band. I read this forum daily and I have a question about emotional eating. When it comes to emotional eating, what habits or other things do you use to replace the food? I know I'm a emotional eater and I'm going to try to work on that during my 6 month diet. Any advice would help. Kimberly:huh2:

    Dealing with emotions

Thanks for your replies. I know im a emotional eater and I know im going to have to deal with all those issues I have. I've been very happy lately and I have noticed that Im not eating all the time. But I like many other people Im not always happy. And I was wondering how people deal with the emotions after the band and they are forced to deal with them. I quit smoking about 7 years ago and I know that I have used food to fill some of that void. Like when Im driving I have to have something to keep my hands busy. I know its been 7 years I should be over that by now but Im not I guess. Anyway thanks for the replies. Kimberly
  4. I had the same problems apalmer79. So what I did was went to my HR person and together we put together a letter to give to the committee at work. The letter was about all the facts of the surgery and how I could benefit from having the surgery. It took about 3 to 4 weeks for them to get back to me but they lifted the exclusion for me. It might be worth your time to try that. The worst they could do is tell you no. Then you could try other way. I hope only the best for you. Good luck. If you have any ? just ask. Kimberly:smile2:

    now what

Well after deciding to have this surgery. Going to the seminar and starting the paper work I found out that my employer has a exclusion policy on the Lap band surgery. I'm very upset right now . Now I'm going to have to find another way. I know there is no way I could pay for this on my own. What now. If anyone can help or give me some advise please do. Thanks Kimberly :w00t:

    now what

Gonefishin I'm sorry to hear about your battle. They should have told you this up front. Luckly they told me the first time I called. Try going to your HR person and see if they can help you. I have a great HR person who helped me. All we did was I got together some facts about the Lap-Band(I have done a lot of research) and put it together with a letter of why I would benefit from the surgery. It took awhile to hear back but it helped. Good Luck and I will put in a prayer for you. Kimberly

    New and Dissapointed :(

I know how you feel my company has the same clause. I went to my HR person. She had me to get together some facts about the lap band and a list of all the diets I have tried in the past and failed. With all the info I got together she helped me put together a letter to summit to my employer. To ask them to lift the clause and give me a chance to make my health better. She thinks they will approve it. GOD I hope so. I have been waiting for about 2 weeks to hear back from them. She told me it will take some time. The wait is killing me. Maybe you can try to do the same thing. Ill let you know what happens in my case when ever I finally hear. God will make a way.
  9. Hey there my name is Kimberly I have been doing lots of research on lap band and I think it would change my life. But I found out that the company I work for has a exculation clause with the insurance company and they will not pay for the surgery. I'm trying to change their minds but for now I have been doing some research on other options. I read the thread you started about the doctor you used. Wow some people just cant stop can they. Anyway I was wondering about how everything went for you. I'm thinking about using this doctor if I cant get my insurance to pay. I would love to hear any and everything you can tell me. Like how you paided, how you got there, did you have to learn spanish before you went? Did you go by yourself? All the details and any web links you can. Thanks so much. And by the way I'm glad you didnt listen to all that crap. I hope you reach all your goals and you life is much better.

Now I'm filling out my paper work for my education class and I'm going to call the insurance company tomorrow for my list of things I need to do. 12. Ok here goes. I'm going to the seminar in 2 more days. I'm very excited about it. I have read a couple of books regarding the lap band and done research on the internet I think I'm ready to start this journey. If there is anyone close to me that has had the surgery that I can talk to let me know please. I could learn a lot more by someone who is going through the journey. I'm going to call this a journey because I think this is the journey I need in my life to get me on the right road for me. I'm open to any advise anyone whats to share. Thanks Kimberly
