  1. I also don't want to take a chance on ruining my band or my pouch. It's funny how easy it was for me to give up my diet pepsi vanilla addiction! I gave it up right after my surgery 8 months ago. I don't miss it at all. I was in wonderland when I found all those other beverages out there that I had always overlooked! Crystal light, Naked juice, Bolthouse, Vitamin Water and Sobe! I just love all the choices. I never would have tried any of these prior to getting banded. Ladies, try all the other non carbonated stuff out there, it's wonderful and good for you. What has pop every done for us but get us fat?? I am doing all I can to not be fat anymore and giving up pop is one of the easiest things.
  2. Jennifer, I thought I scared you away!( Glad to hear it was just dorkiness! Welcome back! I have only lost 1 lb since I started this challenge, but I think it's because of muscle weight. I have been working out a lot! In the past 14 days I have worked out 11 days! You have to know that this is the first time ever in my life I have followed through on an exercise regimen! I'm glad you are not getting discouraged. I think it helps to share with others what you are going through. Who were you visiting? How long were you gone? It's hard to keep on track when you're away from home. Hope to hear from you again soon!
  3. Thanks Luluc, I have already made an apt. for Monday. I will talk to the Doc about it and then we'll decide the best course of action. I have decided not to go it alone anymore. I keep trying to give it time, but it's been over a month now. Thanks for your advice and Keep me posted on how your doc visit goes.
  4. "It does not demonstrate an impenetrable cliquishness on the board" I really like this quote. I laughed out loud! This board of ladies is awesome!
  5. I seem to have this same problem. I have to eat super slow if I want to get any portions down at all. I eat better standing up, but when I try to eat out, or sit down for dinner, I always end up losing it! Did you endure this for 2 and a half years? I really like my weight loss, but it kinda sucks. I was thinking of getting a slight unfil. Did either of you ladies try that? I want to keep losing but I sure miss eating out with my hubby and friends. (sometimes at home, I will take a bite and spit it out, just so I can eat more.) (shhh, don't tell anyone.) It makes me feel horrible, but I just can't eat otherwise. What do you think I should do?
  6. 1 pound gone! Only two weeks left... I think it's because I've added exercise to my daily routine. Muscle weighs more? Anyway 1 lb is better than none! 7. Typical day for me: The breakfast and lunch doesn't change but dinner is always different. Morning coffee 1 cup regular w/creamer, then 1 cup instant mixed with EAS AdvantEdge Protein shake. B: 3/4 cup cottage cheese & 1 pouch of 100 cal snack. L: Snickers Marathon Bar & 1 oz chips (I can't seem to give these up, but 1 oz is 150 calories.) D:Chicken/Burger/Fish, 3 oz plus veggies and maybe 2-3 bites of potato/rice/pasta. During the day, I get all my 64 oz of liquid and when I just need to put something in my mouth, I have tic tacs (Orange) or VoJo mints. Tic tacs are a great way to wait the 30 minutes for a drink!
  8. That made me giggle RM! My family does that too, also margarine is Oleo and any candy bar is a chocolate bar! It's funny how families can be so weird! I call it pop, and I haven't had one in 8 months! I don't know why it was so easy for me to give it up. It was diet Pepsi vanilla for me at least 5 a day. Now I drink Cherry Limeade Crystal lite (Walmart brand.) I just love how I feel minus the 68 lbs. No desire for coke or Oleo or chocolate bars! Just good for your body stuff for me!
  9. If the doctor is telling patients 3 bites per meal, I am sure he is also allowing at least 6 meals per day. This sounds logical to me. I know that 3 bites for me fills up my stomach! That's why I eat so slow, cause then I can eat more like 15 bites. I guess the point is to do what is right for you. If what you're doing is working then great! If you are not loosing, then try something different. We are all here to help each other.
  10. Hi Mary, I am doing surprisingly good! I'm surprising myself with my stick to it attitude! I just really want to see the difference if I actually do it for 4 weeks. I worked out Wed, Thu, Fri and Sun. On Sun I rode my bike for 2.5 miles, and it about killed me (in a good way). I can't work out on Mondays, cause work is hard and then I have Bible Study Mon night. So My 5th day this week will be tomorrow. I remember teaching the younguns to bike. It really tires you out! But you are working with a purpose, so you don't notice till it's over. Good luck to you and thanks for asking!!! (I felt like I was talking to myself) That is very therapeutic sometimes!
  11. Thank you Zoom, I found it after my post. It's nice to do challenges with others! Good luck to you too.
  12. Jennifer, how are you doing today? I am feeling great. I made myself work out after work today! Another 30 minutes on the elliptical! I really feel great after I do it, the problem is always in the starting. I really want to see the difference if I do this consistently for 4 weeks. No chips today
  13. So tonight I got mad at my husband and headed to the gym to let out some steam! I'm so glad I did. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and went 2 miles! I'm still angry, but now at least I did something productive with it. Afterward I bought a little bag of chips I only ate half thanks to my band!! I know that's bad but that's how I used to deal with anger. At least now I add a work out before the binge!
  14. I guess we could talk on here everyday and say if we have worked out or not. I am going to start tomorrow. I have a gym I go to. Do you? How old are your kids? Mine are older 23, and 20. My youngest, 15, is at his dad's for the summer so I have no excuse at all except laziness. I will start with 30 minutes a day on the elliptical machine. I hope to work up to 45 minutes by the end of the 4 weeks, but we'll see!! I'm glad to have a buddy, I am looking forward to this! :tongue2:
  15. The thee minute wait between bites is a good thing! I have had to learn to do that without the Dr. telling me to. I find the slower I eat the better I do. At work it's easiest. I can take a bite, do some work and then take another bite. The other day I timed myself. I took 1 hour to eat 3/4 c of cottage cheese. I suffer when I eat at home cause I used to sit on the couch, watch tv and eat. I always end up sliming when I do that now. I have to eat and clean house in between bites now. I really take a long time to eat! Tonight was tacos. I had one, and it took me 45 minutes. I did LBT, FB, and surfed the internet in between bites. I need to get a hot plate to keep my food warm. I also tend to eat more cold food, like salads. I have a very hard time at restaurants and usually get Soup.
  16. I want in!! I just posted an exercise challenge on another board but this will help me too! I Need this! 17. Who wants to join me in this challenge? I really need to drop 10 more lbs, and I need a jump start. Maybe exercise is what I need. (I really hate to exercise) BUT - I really want this. Maybe after committing for 4 full weeks, I will be able to see if it really makes a difference. Any takers? PLEASE, I need help, encouragement and support as well as accountability! Thanks!
  18. Labor Day challenge. Who want's to join me in this Labor Day challenge to exercise 5 days a week. I currently do 0! I want to lose 10 more lbs by my family reunion on Labor Day and I need accountability! I will start on Thursday the 6th. I will have 4 full weeks till Labor Day weekend. Anyone??
  19. You wrote this a long time ago. How about an update on your band life? I remember being 2 months out and I could eat anything. Now after only my 3rd fill I can only eat very little. I love the success I've had with this band and wouldn't trade it for anything.
  20. Hi everyone! It's been quiet here lately! I just wanted to stop in and see how everyone is doing. It's been about 8 months now!!! I was thinking about Labor Day and my upcoming family reunion. I would really like to drop 10 lbs this month. I've been averaging 8 lbs a month but I want more!! Anyone want to join me? My plan: Eat 1200 calories a day and exercise 5X a week for 4 weeks. I have never really stuck to this plan, but now I'm setting a goal! Wish me luck...
  21. WOW! Thank you so much for your words of wisdom. You just never know what you will come across on this site. I need to tell you that you are right. I went camping for 2 weeks in Northern Idaho. In the sticks! The first week all was well and I had a wonderful trip. The beginning of the 2nd week, I couldn't eat anything. 3 bites and I had to slime. I was sooo tight. I could hardly drink either. I was very worried and just did my best with it up in the woods. Got home and started pouring over these posts. Slippage? erosion? esophagus issues? What could it be? Then I read your post about water. I realized that I had gotten off my routing of 3 20oz bottles a day. Out camping I probably had 1 at the most. I must have been low on lubrication. Today and yesterday I am back on my liquid routine and all is well! I was sooooo worried, and now I am grateful. Thank you for posting! You have helped me greatly! God Bless you,
  22. Hi there, I was snooping in on your NW site and this post caught my eye. I recently had my 3rd fill, was going along great, then bam: Everything went very tight. About a month after my fill, I don't know why. I can't eat hardly anything, and am having real trouble with liquids. It's 104 here in Boise so I need to be able to drink! Did your doc. have any insights as to why this happens?
  23. Congratulations on your decision! I pray God's blessing on you as you go through the surgery and recovery. The recovery is a bit hard, but it's worth it! Keep us posted as to how it goes. -Glenda
  24. Lena, it was great to hear from you, I've been wondering how you were doing! I've been in the woods for 3 weeks so I'm just now catching up from the end of June. Any hoo, I lost 8 lbs on vacation and when I got home I tore through my "old clothes" I wore a pair of size 14 shorts today at work!!! First of all, size 14 is really cool... but to wear shorts to work? That hasn't been done in 5 plus years! My fat cankles and fleshy knees, would always stop me from doing it. The best I would do was capri's. Today was 100 degrees, and I did it!!! I am so proud of myself. My legs actually looked ok -not great- but not horrible either. I think I'll do it again tomorrow when it 's 103. I deliver mail, and in the jeep it gets to be about 115! I am so happy that I wore shorts today! Just wanted to share, I'm glad everyone is doing so good!:cursing:
  25. Oh CONGRATS on getting below 300!!! That is an awesome achievement and I just wanted to encourage you. WAY TO GO!!! Goals seem so far away when you start so high, but you will make it there! Good job!:rolleyes2:
