Lap Band Fill Training
Honestly, it doesn't seem to complicated for any nurse. I think if they are willing to pay to be trained they should be trained. I do agree that they probably want to restrict who can do it, just to keep the cost up.

Cold Food Ideas?
99% fat free turkey hot dogs They don't need heated up, they won't spoil in a day, and they are super easy for a lapbander to get down. Only 40 calories each, but you will need 3 for a lunch. The downside is the sodium.

Has anyone taken phen/fen who has also been banded?
Man, that sucks. Just recently on another thread, it was discussed as to whether someone has ever gotten to the max of their band. Many doctors claim it has never happened to them that a patient has made it to the max. How do you know your at the max? Do they take it out and put it back in, or do they just add it up? I'm asking because I have just never heard of anyone actually maxing out? But I have heard of people with leaks that keep them from retaining a fill? Did the doctor tell you that your maxed out, and how did he or she know?

Bandster hell again.
Update....got in 2 hours of walking and 2 hours of peddling, with 1 hour of weights. It has to show up in the scale eventually.

Just so you know, it will do nothing for you if you don't exercise while on it. I think if you take it early in the morning, like 2 hours before you would get up, it might work better for you. Can't you get a fill to reduce your calorie intake? I think it could work to help motivate you to work out, but the minute you quit taking it, you will be like a meth head after a binge, and not want to do anything.

Bandster hell again.
I work as a pilot. If they don't go anywhere, I don't work. If they do go somewhere, I sit and do nothing all day, and then fly home....there really is no reason I can't walk while on a trip, except if the weather is nasty.

Bandster hell again.
I have a wedding for my daughter in 6 months.....this is the only way I will make weight in time.

Bandster hell again.
Well, three weeks after my last fill and I can tell I'm losing my restriction again. I was reallly doing well on my daily intake, but yesterday was a combination of problems. First off, I was eating things I shouldn't, and second I was able to eat about 2 to 3 times as much as I should be eating for supper. I'm just gonna have to use self discipline and control to get me throught the next week or so, which is the bandster hell. My supper was 8 oz of new york strip and cornbread. It is my daughters birthday weekend and it is really tough. I also finished it off with a cup of homeade ice cream. Oh my god, 440 calories of nothing but sugar and fat, and it doesn't even stay with you. Today is the birthday meal. Hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill with potato chips and dip and the dreaded ice cream and cake for desert. I have a plan this time to save me. I am only going to eat the hot dogs, which are the 99% fat free hot dogs and only 40 calories each. I will use the 1 carb ketchup and mustard to make them good, and I will not eat the dessert. Ok the last part is the worst, but I have to make up for yesterday. I had 2000 calories!!! If I eat 900 calories for the next 3 days, I can counter that disaster. I have also came up with an excellerated calorie burn plan. I'm going to do my normal 30 minutes of swimming or weights at night, but I'm going to also walk for 3 hours a day. That should give me a 1600 calorie burn with my normal metabolism. Man I should be able to have a big time weight loss for the next couple of months this way. I want to lose 70lbs in the next 7 months, to get to goal. That is 10lbs a month. I can do it, but only if I'm doing all of the excercise and keeping my band adjusted. I'm starting to think, it will just have to be adjusted every 3 weeks, not every 4, like they want to do.

A form of survivors guilt.
I'm hoping that if my wife gains the weight back, that she will get the gastric sleeve and move on. The gastic sleeve being the better choice for her in my opinion.

A form of survivors guilt.
I will admit that since I started this, I have also thought a lot about my brother. He had GB about 10 years ago, he died....I'm not sure but the fact I have thought about him a lot lately is probably natural since I'm going through weight loss surgery, but it may be more of the classic survivors guilt?

Well, my wife has been dieting and trying to eat about the same thing as me. Understand she is NOT banded. She has done terriffic, but the reason I got banded is because I believe everyone can lose weight until biologically we are driven to start eating too much again. I just believe, for most people it is inevitable to regain on a diet because we have in our basic genetic code too many things that work against us. I watch how hard she is working and I remember how difficult it used to be, and it really makes me feel bad. In fact it is down right upsetting. I wanted her to get either banded or get a gastric sleeve at the same time as me, but she just doesn't want to do it. She wants to lose it on her own. Well she is a strong women who has proven she can do it, but it is a terrible thing to watch how hard it is for her. I also feel that she has lost the weight in the past and can do it again, but has also always gained it back. Why can't she see how futile it is without some help? I'm just really frustated for her, and I feel guilty, about how well and how much easier this is with help. And then I dred what I think is inevitable, the biological need to eat will force her back into weight gain and make her feel like a failure.

Is it bad that I want him to be jealous?
Yes it is bad. Eventually, you are going to realize that while looks are important at the very beginning, they aren't as important later. What is more important to you, a relationship based on looks that may or may not last, or a real relationship of real love with another person? Too many people confuse the two things. Classic example, would be someone who divorces his wife because she can't lose weight after being pregnant. This in my opinion is someone who wasn't ready to be married in the first place.

Practicing not drinking with dinner - any suggestions??
I used to drink about 40 ounces of Water with each meal. I really don't miss it at all after a couple of weeks. I do need at least 8 ounces of water 15 minutes prior to eating or things just don't go down right.
-
Anyone else noticing this?
What I have noticed is that people will spend tons of time responded if they can argue about something, but a post about an easy way to share what we are eating is ignored. I think it is the nature of man to want to fight with each other rather then work with each other.

Lets Share Our Dailyplate.com Food History
Here is an example of what my diary looks like. OK, that didn't work but if you have a log in this should work. http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/diary/who/JaffaSteve/ I just inserted the link while I was viewing my food diary. If everyone does it this way, we can make this a really good thread to see what others are eating, but you do have to open your diary to the public for others to see it.

Lets Share Our Dailyplate.com Food History
To see what I have been eating....just log in and then find my username profile....about halfway down you can see my food diary. It the person hasn't opened the profile to the public like I said above it won't show anything.

Lets Share Our Dailyplate.com Food History
If desired we could even start a Lapbandtalk group on the dailyplate? But I would want Alex to do that since it would be using the Lapbandtalk name.

Lets Share Our Dailyplate.com Food History
I thought it would be nice if anyone who is logging their food on dailyplate.com, could make their food log public. You just go to My Food Diary instead of My Plate. The selection is about 1/3 of the way down on the page. Then look for the "open to public" option. Then just post your username here and we can just look at what we are eating and get ideas from each other. Just like WW, in that we are logging our food and sharing what we are doing? I have done mine already and it is under JaffaSteve http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/diary/who/JaffaSteve/

How mant G of Carbs to aim for?
If you want a frozen meal and your looking low carb, how about the South Beach Diet meals? Just a suggestion. I like to stay below 100g a day of carbs, but routinely end up at 50-75 Try using dietplate.com and it will help you figure out what the content of real food is when you don't have a label to help you.
