Struggling this week...
Thanks for all the advice. I may try cheating, but I'm a little scared to. I'm so afraid of something setting me back. As far as the bodybugg, I've thought about that. They are expensive and not in my budget right now. So i'm doing the next best thing, I think, which is logging into a food site like, myfitnesspal. I know I'm getting enough Protein, but maybe getting a few too many carbs. Karen, what percentages of protein/fats/carbs do you eat?

Struggling this week...
I just don't understand it. I mean I feel like I'm doing everything right and the scale WILL NOT BUDGE. I've even upped my workouts from 30 minutes a day to 45 minutes a day. I do circuit training one day and then intensity training on the elipitical the next about 5 - 6 days a week. I'm doing myfitnesspal and logging everything I eat. I'm eating about 1200 - 1500 calories a day. I'm struggling with even this amount because I have pretty much no restriction. Sometimes in the morning, I get a little stuck but other than that, I can tell absolutely no difference than the way I felt before the band. I had my first fill about 3 weeks ago. Next one is May 11th. My doc waits 6 weeks between fills and only adds 1 cc at a time. I'm so frustrated!!! I mean I went from probaley eating 4000 calories a day and zero exercise to doing all this and I STILL can't lose weight. WHAT is wrong with me???? Then to top it all off, while taking my daughter to a dentist appt this week, the receptionist asked me "what are you having?". Confused I said "excuse me?" She then said "what are you having a boy or a girl?" I was like "ummm...neither, I'm not pregnant!". She apoligized profusely but I was humiliated. I mean it took everything in me not to break down in tears in the lobby. So embarassing.

being accused of cheating
That's awesome! I think you should be very proud of yourself for standing up to her. Anyone who has done this knows that this is a very difficult thing, probaley the hardest thing I've ever done. So poo on her!

i need help with not drinking with meals
I am the same type of person as you. Preband when eating out I would drink 3 - 4 glasses of beverage during a meal. So this has been a difficult change for me as well. I still struggle with it but I am getting better. I've found it best to not even have a drink near me during the meal. So I won't even be tempted. If I do have one near me, I just sip at it. Just enough to wet my mouth. It seems to help with the unnaturalness of it. I saw someone on this board post that hey did this and it has helped me a lot.

Using straws
My surgeon said it was a no-no for life. I think his reasoning was that he extra air can cause stretching of the pouch. I haven't used one since surgery. I'm curious to see what others think about this as well.

bandster HELL success stories......
I was banded on the 11th of Feb. I was the same way. I thought I would starve to death!!!! It does get better when you can start on softs though, well it did for me. I'm still hungry sometimes but it is not nearly as bad as when I was on liquids.

Regular water vs. crystal light
I too was a soft drink addict. My drug of choice was Diet Mt Dew. I LOVED it!!!!!! Anyway, I did the same thing preop. I started adding the drink mixes. Now I find that 3 weeks postop that I'm craving more pure water. So now it is about half/half mix of drink mixes and water. The way I see it is whatever gets you off of soft drinks is a good thing being that we can't have the carbonation. I think eventually that I will be pretty much all pure water.

How long have you had YOUR band?
Almost 3 weeks.

Two years out and 3 pounds from goal!

Vitamin D deficiency & weight lost
That's very interesting. I also had a Vitamin D deficiency according to my surgeon. He ran a bunch of lab work before surgery. I didn't know it was linked to slow weight loss though. He just told me that a daily multivitamin should take care of it.

Thinking of surgery? Scared? Read my story....
That was awesome. As someone who is 1 week postop and starving, I really needed that. Thank you.

6 days out and nervous
No, you're not alone. I was banded on the 11th and I am also starving. It doesn't seem as bad in the morning but the afternoon is terrible. I'm hoping that once we start some kind of solids that it will get better. I have an appointment on Thursday and I'm hoping that he will go ahead and advance me to pureeds. I'm like you though, I 'm worried that it will always feel this way.

Just Banded and can't get protein down
I was banded on the 11th and am having a difficult time with this as well. I am on full liquids though. I bought some chocolate flavored whey protein and have been making shakes daily. I have a diffiucult time drinking all of them. I really need two a day to meet my clinic's requirement for the first 2 weeks post surgery. I'm trying though. I just ordered the Unjury unflavored protein powder today. I'm hoping that it helps. GL

What does restriction feel like??
Good question. I'm curious about this as well. When you say that you are unable to eat anymore, Alice, does that mean that you are not hungry anymore or that you just physically can't eat anymore or you will throw up. Just wondering if the hunger goes away with the proper restriction.

Scar Stages Share yours!
Can't believe I'm posting this, but this is mine on my 4th day post op. Please ignore all the stretch marks.

Were you hungry in the 1st week postop?
Just wondering if anyone else was starving on the liquid postop stage. I'm on full liquids and am 5 days postop. I had absolutely no appetite at all for the first few days and no suddenly I'm ravenous. I'm so hungry. I keep reading threads about new postops not being hungry and I'm just wondering if I'm the only one that is. I can't wait until I can eat again. I mean my stomach is growling. I have 3 cc's in a 14 cc band that was put in at the time of surgery. Will this get better once I get some solids or not until I get proper restriction?

Fabulous February Bandsters Unite!
I was banded on 2/11. I've done okay but the last day or so, I've been starving. I really didn't have any appetite at all up until that point and now I'm ravenous all of a sudden. I can't wait to start pureed foods. I go back for a 1 week follow up on Thursday. As far as pain, it's pretty much better. Still a little bit of discomfort at the port site but nothing like it was. I was suprised at how much pain I had. It was much more than I expected. Just glad it's getting better.

Feb 10th bandsters - How's it going
I was a Febuary 11th bandster. My experience was okay. Maybe i'm just a baby, but it was more painful that I expected. I had a lot of pain at the port site but it is getting better daily. I'm also starting to get really hungry now. I can't wait to see my doctor so that maybe I can be advanced to pureed.

cream soups
