Excercise for Person Over 250 lbs ??
I like the elliptical and use it at least twice a week. My only problem with it is that after a while it becomes almost effortless and then I need to change things up, I usally walk more when this happens. I have a tread mill at home also but only use it when I can't make it to the gym or walk outside. when I get below 250 lbs I plan to start the couch to 5k program. Until then my PTA wife wants me to start running in the pool to build bone density or some foolishness, who knows I may give it a try.

Help! Went to regular food after only 2 weeks.
I reread my diet guidelines, on the diet given by my surgeon the main difference between mushie and regular diet is that you drink while eating during the mushie stage. This way the food washes through and does not sit on top of the band and therefore will cause no damage. I like the way you all say to do what your surgeon says until he says something different than you like, then he's a dumb ass and you should only follow what's on the lap-band website. I trusted my surgeon enough to cut me I guess I'll let him tell me what I can and can't eat also, BTW I had my surgery at a "Center of Excellence" did you?

Help! Went to regular food after only 2 weeks.
I went to mushies 2 weeks post op and was prepared for 2 weeks of mushies but when I went for my post-op my surgon told me I could start eating "real food" he said take it slow and chew chew chew. I do make sure everything is as chewed as possible before I swallow though and I am not eating anything stupid. I have a 14cc band and almost no restriction at this time. So far the doc is very happy with my weight loss. I feel like I lost a week though because I was eating 700 - 1000 calories a day and did not drop a pound for a whole week. As soon as I kicked it up to 1500 calories the weight started coming off again.

Roller coasters and straws
There are people on here who do mixed martial arts after being banded so I think a roller coaster will be safe.

How much time off work?
I went back after a week and a half. I should have taken the full two weeks but did'nt want work to pile up. I'd say if you have to be on your feet for 12 hours plan on two weeks plus. Keep in mind you will be on 10 lbs restriction for 6 weeks so if you can't go back to light duty then it will be longer before you can return.

I need advice and personal experiences
Without knowing the severity of your mental disorder it is imposible to know if you could deal with responsibilites of the band. I would be inclined to follow the advice of your doctor. If your self pay you may want to consider the sleeve.

Any December '08 Bandsters?
Great to see everyone doing good. I'm 14 days out and totally pain free. I haven't lost a pound in 3 days though and it's a little discouraging, I know this should not be a weight loss time it should be a "healing" time but at less than 1000 calories a day and 30 min a day on the treadmill I'd like to be loosing a little. On the other hand I'm able to do things I haven't been able to do in a year or more. I buttoned my under the belly pants in place YEAA!! And I peed through my fly, Super YEAAA!!! Sorry if this is TMI but I'm damn proud of myself. Aside from the lack of weight loss I am still shrinking the belly is down 2 inches in the 3 days that I haven't lost any weight " not sure about the physics behind that".:tongue2:

Do you tell... or keep it a secret?
I told everyone in my family and at work. I've worked with them for 10 years and their was little chance it wouldent get out anyway. I did catch some flack from a few of the other fat people at work, it's kind of intresting really. We have all tried and failed to loose weight together over the years and it's like they think i'm cheating.

So... what do you fellas do?
I'm the Control Systems Administrator at a small Petro Chem facility on the Gulf Coast of Texas.

Protein Supplement Suggestions
Reading the thread made me hungry so I took a scoop of EAS soy protien, 2 c ice, about a cup of milk and thru it in the blender. It's one of the best things I've had so far. I may make it through the full liquid phase after all.

Hi all, At the time of my surgery my BMI was 52 and my weight was 376 lbs. I know I shouldent but I've been weighing about 3 times a day and so far every time I weigh its lower. Twenty pounds since my surgery on 12/01/08. My energy level is high and if it wasent for this whole not being able to eat food thing I'd be fantastic. I CANT WAIT FOR MUSHIES!! Just one more week on full liquid. So whats the best mussie food? ninner

I was banded on 12/01/2008
For the most part I'm feeling good. The main thing now is I have to rember to drink water very slooooly or it becomes uncomfortable. I'm not hungry at all for probably the first time in my life, its kind of a weird feeling not wanting to eat. Good luck with your procedure.
