  1. Hi Froggy! I haven't been on all through Christmas & new Years! how are you! I think of you often, chatting w/ you got me through a tough few weeks on Nov & early Dec.:) Thanks for all your support & for sharing your story w/ me:)

Julia/35/Boston MA (I'm down 45 lbs!) Hope U are well!!!

  2. Hello to all my fellow November Banded Friends! I am down almost 45 pounds, and really starting to "get" it! I hope all of you are doing well and staying healthy this Winter! Up here in the Boston area, we have had the worst cold and snow storms! Any other time, I would be packing on the pounds eating my way through the boredom of being indoors for 5 months. I am using the time up at the gym, and having the energy to work extra shifts so I can catch up on the Chri$tma$ damage:) I love the support this forum offers, keep up the good work all! Juliagoolia<3
  3. I am doing well & how about U? I am back to work, down 31 lbs and really happy with my descision:)

    Diet before surgery????

My doc had me lose approx 20 lbs prior, for all the reasons mentioned by others above. I didnt have to do the 2 week liquid diet before surgery just had to have clears the day before. The biggest scare for me was the fact that your liver holds on to fat and if it is enlarged pre op it can get in the way of the doctor banding you. :cursing: To eat out of control until January would for me, make it even harder to get on track and follow the regimen post op. I followed weight watchers, and got into an excercise program 3x a week and actually ended up dropping the entire 20 lbs which surprised the heck out of me. I also felt great going into surgery and now 1 week after having the band placed, I am looking foreward to getting back to the gym & feeling better. You should see a nutritionist as sson as possible and remember, it's not like you can never eat again as long as you live, the band is a tool to help you lose weight not a cure all.
  5. Just hopping on the November "banded" wagon! I was Banded 11/25 and have 2 weeks off from work. Starting to get my energy back, sick of liquid diet but happy no complications:) My doctor has been great, & my family is so supportive. I just keep thinking, this time next year I will be soo healthy & happy!
  6. Hi there, I saw you were from MA, I am too. I live in the Worcester area. Where are you???

    5 Days Post Op

I think it was just a coincidence that U got your period, even though I bet w/ wt loss it will become more regular. I got mine the night post op while in the hospital - just what I needed! But I figured it was gonna happen then surgery or not. (I too get mine 2-3 times a year):blushing: My doc keeps telling me surgery puts the body under much more stress than we give it credit. :cursing:

    I'm so disgusted with myself

There's still time to change! We all have slipped up in one way or another at some point on our journey. Just try and remember how much time & effort you have put into this thus far. You had to have made changes or they wouldn't have allowed the surgery. Of course it dosen't help that the Holidays are here and our famalies are all busy gaining the "Holiday 10" all around us! I reccomend you call your nutritionist on Monday & form a plan for the upcoming weeks. That's what they are there for, they realize there is a gradual need for food and will make sure you are physically post op safe. :cursing:

banded the 25th, 1st feeling good day

I too was banded 11/25 at here in Boston MA. I found that reading alot of the posts on this site helped me to know that all of the pain, gas and bloating will pass soon. Others also have posted their wants to eat, being hungry and the joy of "mushies", it's nice to hear others feel the same physically and emotionally. So many people post feeling simular feelings - the good news is they say it gets better! The lightheadedness may be the pain meds or the new diet. :tongue_smilie:Today was my first day of a nice short walk, and some light housework which really helped move some of the gas out:) I have been lightheaded at times too:) I envy the people who stated they were back up and about in a day or so ~ not me! I'd say today I'm with you! Let's hope everyday gets better & we get healthier & Happier!
  10. Hi my name is Julia & I too am an ICU RN. How was it getting back to work post op? Are you getting in enough nutrition? I am only 4 days post op, but I am rerally nervous to get back to ther unit:)

  11. Hi! My name is Julia, I too am an RN & I was wondering how it is getting back to work:)

  12. Thanks for the welcome message! It is so good to be able to discuss my journey w/ people who are going thru the same thing. I didn't think I would need this as much as I do, it has been great reading everyone's simularities. Thanks again:)

  13. Hi Everyone; I was banded this Tues.11/25 at The University of Massachusettes Hospital. I am somewhat uncomfortable & tired just as some of the others have posted. I have to say I am glad to have found this site, reading some of the posts has eased my mind and answered some of the questions I have been thinking of since the surgery. Someone had mentioned a group of November fellow banders, I'd like to find them, anyone know how I can get the link? I'm also interested in posting a timeticker & can't seem to figure it out:) Any info would be helpful:)
  14. Day 3 post band for me and I'm still using the pain meds for the pain & still have lots of gas pains in my shoulders. I also feel a bloating sensation like some of the other posters mentioned. Able to do simple house chores and walked around the block today (got tired but not too bad:redface:). I'm hoping the weekend will be better:thumbup:.
