  1. Re: having caffeine before or after eating, I am not sure, but caffeine is a stimulant and it stays in your body ( not sure of the half life). Being a true caffeine lover and having experienced withdrawal headaches. I have been told that it can stay in your system for up to 12 hours, so before or after eating I am not sure that it matters especially if it stays in your system up to 12 hours.
  2. I was told by my nutritionist that caffeine is a gastro intestinal stimulant. Which is true. It tends to speed up digestion and getting you ready for post op times when you need to stay full longer it may be best to begin the withdrawal now vs. later when everything is adjusting. Good luck!
  3. the first 2 fills were just a pinch, the 3rd fill I wanted to scream. It hurt, and was sore for a few days after. I don'[t know why it hurt more than the previous ones, same doctor, same procedure....It went away and is now fine. I agree, just don't watch.

    New Surgeon wwyd?

Not to sound too arguementative, but it's your body. Would your surgeon have surgery by someone as inexperienced as him. No Way! I know that they have to get experience somehow, but I think that you have a say. Follow your instincts. I went to 4 different surgeons prior to surgery, 2 were at Centers of Excellence. I thought that one was great, the other had somewhat poor human to human skills. People lose 35 percent more weight with appropriate follow up. Go with the one that you want to continue a relationship with. The follow up is very important. Best of luck:thumbup:
  6. I was also very nauseous with the protein drinks. Although it is somewhat expensive. I was able to tolerate Isopure bottled drinks ( Icy Orange). That's the only flavor that I could stomach. It's 40g protein and I would sip on it over ice all day. It may just get you through this time. By the way, I live in Flower Mound and was able to get the drinks at the Vitamin Shoppe ( they have other flavors and you can just try one at a time). Best of luck and know that it gets better soon!

    I have ZERO restriction now...

I had my first fill 4 weeks post and feel no restriction whatsoever, I guess, the previous restriction was due to the swelling. i can eat as much and whatever I want. My next fill is next week... thank God. I didn't have the surgery to just will power it the whole time. ( obviously, I didn't do too well at that before).
  8. I was banded 1/22, prior to my 1st fill ( 4 weeks post) , I was HUNGRY, wanting to snack between meals and forcing myself to eat less at each meal ( no sense of restriction). Had my 1st fill last week and realize that it was probably not enough. There is no sensation of restriction, so I guess everyone is different. I get another at 8 weeks post, so maybe that will do the trick. Take care and hope that the hunger doesn't get you, it's good to see that we can all meet at our destinations by taking very different routes!
  9. I have 2.5cc in on my first fill, and I feel NO restriction. I guess it's a process

    Snacks?

I am 2 and 1/2 weeks post, does anyone eat snacks? If so, what do you eat. I eat the amount that I am suppose to eat at meals but really feel like I need a snack about 2 hours after my meals. Should I be toughing it out or is an occasional snack ok?

    Very sad update

Jaime, I am so very sorry for your loss, you and your family are in my prayers and I hope that peace finds you soon. Know that you are wonderful to be able to share and ask for help. These are the times that we need to know that others can offer prayers and God will take care of you.
  14. I did the same thing at about the same time. Thank God nothing happened. I think that God sometimes watches over those of us who need it most:tongue2:

    Migraines anyone?

It may be detox from the caffeine and also my doctor told me that a new study came out that increasing calcium ( which when I drank 5 or 6 dietcokes a day, I am sure that what little calcium I consumed was leached out of my body) has been shown to decrease migraines. Yipee, hope that your migraine is better soon. Best of luck.

    Metal taste in mouth

Make sure that you are getting enough vitamins and minerals as well as drinking lots and lots of water. I had that before and my electrolytes were all off. If you start to feel strange and mentally foggy be sure and call your doc.

    High Liver Enzemes?

My surgeon said it was often from a fatty liver. Before mysurgery I faithfully stuck to the pre op diet and they were fine. Also, things like advil, tylenol can increase your liver enzymes as well as illness.

    stomach sleepers

I am 2 and 1/2 weeks post surgery and I just wake up on my stomach, I started waking up there about 2weeks out.

    cream soups

Cream soups strained were on my full liquid list. Thank God , I would have been bummed if I could have had only broth for 2 weeks.

    isopure fruit drinks post -op????

I found them at The Vitamin Shoppe, Not sure if these stores are every where. I like the Icy Orange ( reminds me of Gator ade) I had a hard time finding protein that I could tolerate post surgery. These work for me. they are pricey, but almost everything else made me nauseous post surgery, so they have been worth it for me, for now.

    Aspirin?

I was told that I could take the coated baby aspirin, but to wait until 5 days post surgery. It' s probably better to take with food.

    Upper Back Pain

I am 12 days out and the most discomfort that I had was a feeling of being hit by a bat across my upper back. It was right at and above my bra line. It gets better, but it is still there. It didn't feel like the gas that sometimes was in my shoulder, but it could have been. Just know that it gets better.

    solid foods

My nutritionit has mashed potatoes thinned with milk on the allowable list. Chicken not yet. I don't know about the stoma, but I am 10 days out and very hungry. I even sucked on a cough drop ( no cough) just to have something.
