I've called and scheduled a consult with Dr. Nicholson in Plano, Tx. While I was on the phone the lady scheduling it said you are going the hiatal hernia route. When I asked her what that meant she said the lady with insurance would go over that with me. Anyone know what this means? I know when I spoke with Melissa on the insurance info she said that first my part would be 10,000 but then she said she wAs looking into something and would call me back. She called back saying that going gastric sleeve she could get it where it was just under $3,000 with $2,000 of that being my deductible.

I'm looking into using him. I'll be an out of Towner. Can you tell me how long from the time you had a consult with him til your surgery date is? Just wondering how fast it moves. I have blue cross blue shield of Texas.

I am just now starting to look for information on Gastric Sleeve surgery. I am located 2 hours from Houston so I would like information on Houston surgeons. I also have family near Dallas so I am also open to recommendations on surgeons in the Dallas area. If you could tell me which surgeon you used, why you picked him/her, and if you are happy with their care I would appreciate it!

I have BCBS of Louisiana and it says that weight loss surgery is an exclusion. We talked to someone at a seminar and they said that if it was an exclusion then more than likely it could not be over turned in an appeal. Has anyone found this untrue? Is basically my only option is to self pay?

Hello, I am new here. I have been thinking about the LapBand for awhile and made the first step by going to a seminar about it last week. They took my insurance info and called today to tell me that under our plan that LapBand is an exclusion. I had asked them that if it was an exclusion if an appeal can be done but they said that if it is listed as an exclusion that I could forget about having them cover it, even with appeals. Is this true? What should I do from here?
