Exclusion question

I have BCBS of Louisiana and it says that weight loss surgery is an exclusion. We talked to someone at a seminar and they said that if it was an exclusion then more than likely it could not be over turned in an appeal. Has anyone found this untrue? Is basically my only option is to self pay?

I also had BCBS. I am pretty sure they won't cover it if it is excluded. I went ahead and did self-pay. I had to get a 401k loan. It was well worth it. I am not losing as fast as I thought I would, but it is my fault, not the bands.

If WLS is excluded, it means your company hasn't paid for that coverage. So you have to self-pay.
