  1. Is it really 6 weeks b4 someone can get their first fill?
  2. Hi Lisa! I really don't have anything inspiring that I look to or go towards. I guess it used to be food. I am kinda the type that just sucks it in, and pulls myself up by the boot straps -- that is once I have had my cry and fit. *grin* Hopefully this journey will help me see things a little better, and in the same kind of light you see things.
  3. I am so glad you are ok and not hospitilized for dehydration!!! You Good Girl you for calling your doctor!!!!!!!!
  4. WONDERFUL!!!! What a great trooper you are!!!! I am so proud and inspired by you!!!! I am a April 17 bander too !!
  5. ROFLMAO!!!!! Ok, I have a cute pair of overalls, they have red bandana around the calfs and across the chest pocket in the front. I bought them just recently as a goal. They hang all alone on one side of my closet and I look at them EVERYDAY twice at day at least. And they know momma's commin, as I tell them every time I look at them!!!
  6. Your doin great! Your healthy your happy and your on your way!!!! Your losing it at YOUR body's pace is how I see your doing it. Congrats on the good unfill and refill!!! (I did not know they UNfill it before they up your restriction?)
  7. Isn't that one of the things this board is for? I weighed myself this morning for the last time until next Monday morning. I will only weigh myself on Monday mornings as that is when I had my surgery - on a Monday morning. My dr's scales were 250 each visit (3mths) - mine had been 245 for the same months. So in the sanity of trying to figure that out, like most ppl, I use my scale numbers, as the loss will still be a loss on his or mine right? So today, even though I know it to me Water (and probably muscle too) loss - I am happy with a 15 pound loss in one week. I know I will stall out, and when I start eating, I have no doubt I will possibly even gain (BITTING MY TONGUE!!!) - but it will all come off, and the goal is to get to the restriction - fill portion of my journey to success soon!!!! Man the head jobs we can do to ourselves!!!!!:faint:
  8. Whew!!!! I feel better - THANK YOU ALL!!!!
  9. Sorry in advance about this question. Everything I drink other then Water - goes right thru me. I have had laproscopic surgery before, and this happens as your stomach is not used to the food when you start taking in anything of substance, but I am talking about sips of juice. (orange tangerine, 2g of sugar) I just seem to have this loose BM that won't stop. Any ideas? Suggestions??
  10. Hi Lisa!!! Thanks for asking!!!! He's wearing a brace on it, and on crutches. It appears to be badly sprained. Thank goodness it's not worse!!!!!
  11. and cleaning my house. I am just not a sit still kind of person. The first three days home I walked the sidewalk in front of my house back and forth three times a day and once around the block. Since then my mom took me to renew my drivers lisc. and WalMart. Not to mention we had to make a side trip to take my oldest son to the ER as he fell down the stairs at school and fractured his ankle. Then yesterday my sister draged me to Garden Ridge Pottery for their White sale, as my husband bought new beds for the boys Tuesday when I came home from the hospital. And we do not own any queen size sheets for them. Today I am cleaning the house cause the cleaning lady will be here in the morning. And when my husband comes home in a few mins, we are leaving to run errands as my car needs to be vaccuumed and washed, and we need groceries for next week, and I still have not found sheets and a comforter for my youngest son that he likes. I am tired. I but feeling better all the time!!! Hang in there!!! It all gets batter and we'll be posting about how much we're loosing and swapping food ideas in no time!!!!!!
  12. I have been on them many times. Every time I lost, I regained and then some. I was wondering about the same thing - phentormine and the band?
  13. HI Yoda! This is my third Lap surgery. (Gallbladder removed, Hyrnia repair and now Banded!!!) Yeah!! Each time, I showed within the day I got home. As early as the day after surgery. And like many, the strips are on for weeks and you have to take the ones that wouldn't budge, off yourself. And I wash mine gently. If you are apt to not heal and infect easily, just let the warm water run over them, and any soap that naturally does. Be gentle to you!!!! And please shower girl, that smell is putrid! LOL JOKING!!!!!
  14. Hi Seppi! I just order two packages of the Jerky (kids and DH can eat it if I have an trouble) and I got the Wafer cookies - they were only $2 and some change!!!! Whole order including shipping UPS was $32 !!! Ordering the Sugar now, as I only have a cup f it my sister shared with me. Including shipping it was $18.97 for 2 lbs pouch. (we do not use a lot of sugar normally - got for making iced tea) It is honestly amazing. One cup of WheyLow = One cup of refined granulated sugar. (They have Brown sugar too for baking!!!!) My husband and I will never use refined granulated sugar again. The texture and taste is mind blowing! It is made from cow's milk. Natural !!!!! The frap (latte) drinks are good. I use them in my blender and make frozen frapps with ice.
  15. Jen Thank you!!! I have memorized your words of wisdom. -30 pounds does not mean 3 weeks. Expect to go up with muchies and additional intake. I am pretty much starving myself right now. I am already keeping the 'freakout' on a low as I see how easily people become anorexic. I have to eat to live. I have to eat so I am not a bitch to my family and everyone around me. ROFLOL 13 pound loss this week is a Win. liquids this next week then on to mushies. Expect a gain. It will all work out. I always have a fill in my future. Positive thoughts.... Positive thoughts..... Thanks Jen!
  16. I am sorry if these items have been mentioned before!!!! My sister had RNY on 2-14-05 and lost 112 pounds in 8 mths. She is beyound goal, and lived by the RNY rules to the ultimate. As banders, we have to consume Protien and not sugar just as they do. These are items she turned me on too and I wanted to share them. I am a VERY finicky eater. You won't believe how finicky. I can NOT stand the after taste in Splenda or other artificial sweetners. The first item is: WheyLow Sugar. It is UNREAL. http://wheylow.com/ The second is: AchievOne protien drinks. You like the Starbucks frap drinks in the glass jar you can get anywhere? These taste just like them!!! http://store.bariatriceating.com/proteinpowders.html The third item is: Beef Jerky - She said it is the most moist and tender that allows you to chew it and swollow it without the dry meat kind of problems we have to avoid. http://store.bariatriceating.com/jhubeje.html Like all items out there, some work for some, some not so much for others. I am SOOOOO finicky. I have tried the protien drinks and can do them!!!! I have tried the sugar and honestly am beyond amazed. My other sister who is not a RNY/LapBander is using the sugar and has already talked to the guy (his number is on the site) and he is in the works to getting a diet Coke on the market. I am going to order the Beef Jerky today. Has anyone else used any of these and can give feedback?
  17. HI YODA !!! Congrationlations on being banded! I was banded on Monday, April 17th. I was able to sleep on my side by Thursday, very very carefully!! I have a memory foam pillow - I hold it against my stomach and it works GREAT - so much better then a regular pillow. It is Sunday morning and last nite I was able to roll easily to either side and rest comfortably. Hang in there!!! It will get better!! I am posting a new thread about protien drinks and sugar, I don't want to hyjack this thread! Hope your sleeping more comfortably real soon!!!!!
  18. Oh My Gosh!!! I can't either!!! Congratulations and I am excited for you!!
  19. PhotoNut, I am with you on this one. Your post was in my heart mind and soul. I am going to reward myself all throughout this journey with kind words to myself, and bragging in here!! Otherwise, head down, goal in site. Onward!!
  20. :clap2: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOU !!!!!!!!!:clap2: I have been married to a God Send and Wonderful Man for 18 years, and we dated two years before that!! Why is there not an option to vote: HAPPILY MARRIED ???
  21. MelAnne replied to PhotoNut's topic in The Lounge
I love food. We have created (not natural) so much food in our society. Addiction is a word we throw around, but is so powerful in so many ways. Smoking, no do not unban the advertisements. Food, yes, it would help me greatly as I am on a new journey in weightloss. Education is always the answer. Change the junk in the vending machines? --> join your PTA and get involved --> tell your school district you will not tolerate it and put the stuff in it you want. Or have them removed!! Like behinds, everyone has an opinion, and like my behind, I obviously have a big one on this topic right now as I am 4 days post op and hungry!! LOL
  22. Oh Mona I am so sorry!!!! I was denied by Aetna and Cigna for two years - the Lord led me to a job that offered UHC, and even though we have only ever had our ins. under my husbands job, I JUMPED on my companies plan. They approved me within 24 hours. (once the &^%$# office girl at my doctors office submitted my paperwork) Mona, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep fighting and keep being head strong about it. One thing about women. We always end up with what we want. Not always when we want(ed) it, but we get it! (it's that b!tchy gene in us!!!!) LOL Hang in there and keep looking for your open options!!!
  23. Hi Pepper!! Welcome to the LOOSERS SIDE !!!! I was banded on Monday, April 17th. Read my posts. I have whined and pouted and cussed and cried. I am over it now. Do I get hungry? Oh Yeah! Not as much and not as strongly as when I first came home. Sip those fluids, plan the meals you are going to get to eat in a few weeks, and WALK WALK WALK. We are the source of the power behind this band. It started with us, it will end with us. We can do this together! (Thank Goodness for this message board!) Read thru the posts and the b4 and after pics. They help! If you need to talk, I am here for you girl!! -MelAnne
  24. I am taking it as a WIN! I know the loss will slow down and die. But until then - ONWARD! I am exercising, which has to be part of the winning equation, as well as protien protien and protien - as well as staying away from sugar - will help me succeed. I like sugar. I HATE artificial sweetner. I Love IceCream. So I am compromising with myself. sugar free icecream treats (popcicles, fudgecicles, etc..) as long as the sugar is under 9g. And this is not an everyday treat!!!! So I am starting to get my head on and see what I will be able to eat and how I plan on making this work for me. I want it to be quick, but quick is going to have to be just loss, even if it is a slow one, as long as I see a loss. (God help me with the platue period)
  25. Thank you for the encouraging words of wisdom! I have continued to walk walk walk. (walked thru WalMart today and was rewarded with a run to the RR as I had my BM finally!!!) Eww Grooosss SORRY!!!! Had lunch at a mexican resturant, kids had chicken fajitas, my mom had beef fajitas, and I had a few sips of the broth on the bean soup. I am whipped, and back in my recliner!!! scales at WalMart weighted me in at 137, so there is another scale setting me at a 13 pound loss since Monday morning surgery. I am sure it is temporary, as I will surely stall out here soon, if not tomorrow. But I am going to rejoice in it until then. Looking forward to mushies in another week. Already planning out what I want! So one more week of liquids and I can move onward! Thank you again, I know I am a 37 yr old adult throwing a tantrum. I also know I waited two years to have this surgery, and wanted the RNY, feel like I settled for the LapBand, and now terrified it will not work. And, I am out all this money! Life is good, I have today, I can work this, and if it or I fail. Start over from there. Otherwise, the head crazies are going to make me NUTZ (ok, MORE nutz)
