  1. I am 9 days post-op and I also and still sore mainly at the port site. My other incisions are fine though. It probably just has to do with how you body heals. As long as the incisions aren't weeping or smell bad you are probably ok. :w00t:
  2. Okay, I'm home. I got home earlier this afternoon. I feel ok. The pain is manageble but does hurt sometimes. I have not felt hungery at all yet. All in all the whole process at the hospital was pretty good. No complaints.
  3. What causes getting stuck? Can you prevent it? It sounds unpleasant.
  4. I'm getting banded tomorrow and I've seen those two terms on here. Just wondering what they are.
  5. Thanks everyone. I think my boyfriend is more nervous than I am. He's being really weird this evening. Eh, I dunno.
  6. Okay so tomorrow is my surgery. Today I am on full liquids and I had to drink a 10oz bottle of Magnesium Citrate. Only the label it said "Pleasing Lemony Flavor". There is nothing pleasing about the way that stuff tastes. YUCK! lol But I got it down. It took me an hour but I did it. I'm getting excited. I just want to hurry up and get the surgery part over with so these butterflies will go away. lol
  7. summer - congrats on your surgery tomorrow. you have to post a message as soon as you can and let us know how it went. I'm hopeing that when I wake up tomorrow I have a calmness within me. lol I'm a worrier by nature.
  8. MrsWilson, Thank you very much. It's so nice to have the website to go to when you need people who are going through the say thing as yourself. Good luck with everything.
  9. I'm getting banded on August 18th. I didn't have any kind of pre-op diet. Just a liquid diet the day before the surgery.
  10. Wow...my surgery is now only two days away. I was not nervous at all until about 10 minutes ago. I am looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life. This is probably the scariest thing that I've ever done. Change is always scary and this is going to be one big change.
  11. Yep it's supposed to be on the 18th. The day surgery place was supposed to call me today between 12:30 and 1:00 and they didn't. I called them at about 3 and they told me that the girls were still making phone calls. It's freaking me out a bit that they didn't call when they said that they were going to. Now I have to wait til monday to see if I get a call then. If I don't get a call by noon I am going to call again.
  12. 123crod, Let me know how your first fill went today. :w00t:
  13. When ever I go in to the doctors office I always try to talk with someone who is there for a fill. Everyone I've talked to is extremely happy with Dr. Gomez. No one has ever said anything to me about pain when they get a fill. They always say it's no big deal.
  14. I am planning to lose at least 100 pounds. I don't have any small children. The youngest is 11 and he's a big help. When we go to the grocery he always tries to carry the heavier bags for me because that's what his dad does. I think it's so cute.
  15. I will definitely bring a pillow with me. I have read on alot of the posts that that really helps. I'm currently not working. I go to school full time. My surgery is on the 18th and my classes start again on the 24th. That is going to be interesting since I'm not supposed to lift more than 20 pounds for two weeks. lol
  16. Yes my boyfriend is very supportive. Some of my family knows and some doesn't. I told all of my brothers but not any of my aunts, uncles, or cousins. I just feel like it's a really private thing. I'll probably have to tell them eventually. They might start to notice a lot of weight loss and think I'm starving myself. lol
  17. I actually grew up in Santa Fe right next door to you. My parents house is right on the Santa Fe/Hitchcock city limits. I recently moved in with my boyfriend who lives in Dickinson. But growing up in this area makes every town feel like your home town.
  18. I take blood pressure meds and he said that they are small enough that I don't have to mess with crushing them. I'm glad about that. When they are crushed you can taste them. YUCK! I went shopping today for all of the stuff that I will need after the surgery.
  19. I do have to stay overnight at John Sealy in Galveston. They do have support groups and I believe that they meet at the UTMB clinic near where the old walmart used to be in La Marque. Probably the hardest thing for me will be not to eat sweets. I have a bit of a sweet tooth especially when it comes to chocolate. lol But I know that I can do it. I am committed to making this work.
  20. Well the first two weeks it's a liquid diet. Then soft food for two weeks after that. Every doctor is different I guess in what they recommend. I really like the staff at UTMB. They are very nice and caring.
  21. I am using Dr. Gomez from the UTMB Center for Weight Management. I am nervous and excited about the surgery. it's just around the corner.
  22. I live in Galveston County. I am being banded on August 18th.
  23. I am getting banded on August 18th. I don't have any special pre-op diet that I have to follow. I had my pre-op doc visit last week and I found out that the day before my surgery I do have to go on a liquid diet. I was surprised. I had heard of other people having to go on a liquid diet for a week to 3 weeks before surgery. I'm very excited though. I can't wait.
