  1. Hi there everyone, I haven't posted in ages, but have been reading and learning. Things were going really well with my weight loss, I was down 80 lbs at the end of July. And then...I found out that I am pregnant and due in March! So, a little bit of a detour for a while, not focusing on weight loss any more, just trying to be healthy. But, after the baby is here, I do plan to re-start this journey. Take care everyone, I will be checking in for some motivation in a few months! Anne
  2. Hi everyone! Haven't posted in a while...have been busy. Everyone is doing so well, such an inspiration! Please update my weight to: 249 That's 80 lbs gone, yay! Thanks for keeping this spread sheet going, Sistasassy! Anne
  3. My goodness, what an eventful time you have been having. I am glad to hear that you recognized the signs of being overfull, and got an unfill (defill? What is the correct word anyway  I have been overfilled as well...totally not pleasant. I hope the next little while goes smoothly. Take care, Anne

  6. Glad to hear you are doing so well! I hope the next few weeks go smoothly too! Does this mean you are missing the heartworm season craziness at work (or do you have heartworm season stuff where you live?). Take care, Anne

  10. Hi cowpoke Lucy! Welcome to the site! I was banded at the SWLC Nov 7/08. I have been VERY happy with my experience at the clinic, and since then. Dr. Cobourn personally called the morning after surgery to see how I was doing...a very nice thing to do, I thought, especially since my surgery was Friday so it was a Saturday morning! The nurses have been helpful, answered questions on the phone or via email quickly. I have had to call the surgeon once after hours, and the call was quickly returned. Although I do not have the long-term experience that others do, I am pleased to see that the service they provide seems to be consistent over the years, even as the clinic grows in size. If you have any other questions, feel free to message me privately. Take care, and good luck on your journey! Anne PS can't figure out the ticker thingy but highest weight/pre-op diet weight: 329 surgery weight 304 current weight 289 goal weight 180

  14. Hi everybody! Weekly weigh-in time... As of this morning, my weight is: 294 Thanks for updating the spreadsheet Froggi! Hope your recovery is going well! Anne
  15. Hi Froggi, Thank you for keeping track of this for all of us...so encouraging! I hope you are feeling better every day and that your GI stuff settles down! If you are updating the spreadsheet, do you mind correcting one thing for me? My pre-op diet starting weight was 329 (same as my highest weight), and my surgery day weight was 304 (I think my spot for pre-op diet starting weight is blank). Also, my current weight is: 299 (YAY!!!!!!). Thanks again! Anne
  16. Hi everyone, So....I was banded last Friday, and overall I am feeling pretty good. My surgeon recommends 1 week fluids, then 1 week puree, then 1 week soft, then back to regular food. I am very ready to eat some pureed food tomorrow!! I guess what I am struggling with is the food obsession...I just want to eat something. Not necessarily something unhealthy (although chips do enter my mind a lot these days), but even just something like some steak or some pizza and wings. I feel proud b/c I have managed to completely avoid my daughter's Hallowe'en candy (not even a single bite!), but can't stop thinking about food. It frustrates me a lot, and I worry that this surgery will make my food obsession even worse. And I weighed myself this am, have only lost 2 lbs since surgery. And while I know that some people don't lose while in the post-op stage, darn it, I wanted to be one of those who did! I feel better having written about it, thanks for reading.
  17. Hi Froggi, I realized that I forgot to say *when* my surgery was in November (seriously challenged, I tell ya). My surgery was November 7th. Thanks for keeping all this info in 1 place! Anne
  18. Hi Froggi, A little slow on the uptake here...I was looking everywhere on the page for a spreadsheet...now I see the link (d'oh). Thanks for doing this! Very interesting and inspiring! Here goes: Highest: 329 Pre-op weight: 304 Current: 302 Goal Weight: 180 Thanks Froggi! Anne
  19. Hi everyone! Great to see so many Notorious Novembers on the board! Well, I had my surgery on November 7th. Was in surgery at 8 am, out of surgery by 9:15, out of recovery by 11:30 and home (1 hour drive away) before 1 pm. It was all a blur! The gas pains were pretty bad until yesterday. Today has been great so far, only a few "twinges". I AM pretty hungry, looking forward to every small meal I can get. My surgeon recommends fluids for 1 week, then 1 week mushies, then 1 week soft, then full foods. Before being banded, I LOVED spicy foods (Indian, Thia etc), so right now, I am kinda dying for something with a lot of robust flavour. I have been shredding some aged cheddar into the tomato soup, which is really nice. Looking forward to mushies (pureed mango...yum!). I haven't figured out the ticker thingies yet...but Highest: 329 (started pre-op liquids at that time) Surgery: 304 Current: 302 (closing in on that "2", I can't wait!) Goal: not totally sure yet...stay tuned! I love reading everyone's stories and success! Anne

    When is your surgery?

Hey everyone, My surgery is with Dr. Cobourn at the Surgical Weight Loss Centre in Mississauga (Toronto), Ontario, on November 7th. Not long now... Looking forward to watching everyone's progress!

    Hello!

Hi pattikay! Thanks for writing! You cheer me on and I'll cheer you on too! Did you see there is a group for November 2008 Bandsters? I am not totally sure how I ended up there (well, I clicked on a link in a post, hopefully I can figure how to get there directly...), but it seems great. Let me know if you find the group. And good luck on November 5th, I will keep you in my thoughts that day.
  22. Hello everyone! Well, this is a little scary...I have never posted on an on-line forum before. I am scheduled for my surgery November 7th at the Surgical Weight Loss Centre in Mississauga. Dr. Cobourn will be doing my surgery. I am very nervous/excited--as I am sure many of you can relate. I am really struggling with the Optifast...some days are better than others. I generally do well during the day, while I am at work and distracted. But the evenings...especially if my husband is at work...those times are tough. I feel like I am the only one who has struggled with the Optifast, that everyone else had the willpower enough to not eat food during this time (after all, it's not that long of a time...). Why is this so hard? I am SO interested in hearing about other experiences, and am sure I will be on this board frequently! Thanks for reading, Anne

    Let's Introduce Ourselves

Hello! I am Anne, and I live in Ontario, Canada. I am 37 years old, and the mother of a fabulous 6 year old daughter. My husband and I have been married for 10 years (and as of today, together for 20 years!). He is 100% supportive of this new adventure (and since insurance won't cover the surgery in Ontario, it was a big decision for our family...). I am definitely not enjoying the pre-op stage...but looking forward to my surgery: November 7th. I am so excited to see a support group for those of us having our surgeries this month. I will be checking in frequently and look forward to seeing everyone's success stories.

    Hello!

Hi again, and thanks for the encouraging responses! A few more days have passed, and as the surgery gets closer, the easier I am finding it to stick with the Optifast. Basically, I am terrified of the surgeon not being able to proceed b/c of fatty liver. Sometimes, a little fear is a good motivator! Well, thanks again to those posters who wrote back. See you on the banded side!
