How the surgery is done?
I was indeed upright and he did the surgery from between my legs..Didn't know this until I got into the OR.I about said let me outta here, and I had a male nurse..gown and booties only..Did NOT like the idea of being upright or doc being down there, but wasn't like I was awake to care anyway..

problems urinating after surgery????
YES! It took me something like 12-15 hours to pee, I can't remember(I posted this somewhere on here before)Doc said stand in shower, didn't help..Said it is more common in men than woman but that anytime surgery is near the belly button area, it can happen..I have this almost everytime I have surgery..I have a bashful bladder and have had surgery on my bladder..

No liquids while eatting, then what about soup?
We were all told to avoid slider foods! But if we gotta have them, than moderation is the key..Except for after fills! I have also found out (on my own) if my calories for the day are low then slider foods are also ok in moderation.

How do you take non-liquid medications?
I was told nothing bigger than a tylenol. I break them in half though. I miss my fish oil..I can't seem to find the liquid form anywhere..

anyone else have a hard time waiting to drink?
I am doing better, but it's SO hard waiting at least 1 hour to drink..Today I got stuck not once but twice..Second time I sipped some warm tea to help it pass, it worked too..But I must be thirsty by nature or something because I find it so hard to wait..I have been, but so hard..I mean right down to the second, I am waiting for that first drink..Some days I'd rather just drink than eat..I also am so afraid of getting stuck again..

Someone please help- food stuck for first time
twoheadedgirl, you will know, trust me..I often wondered too..But unfortunately today "TWICE" mind you, it happened (my first time/s)..First one lasted 20 minutes, second one lasted 10 minutes only because I drank some warm tea, I had only taken 4 tiny, tiny bites, so I knew as well didn't care if It passed on through because I was in pain..I just got my first fill monday(26th) and am learning..Although I thought/did chew well and was tiny. But have also heard many people say that the band seems/feels tighter in the morning, this must be true..And talk about frothy/foamy stuff ! EEWW!!

Is this pain normal?
It's probably the muscle they cut through trying to heal. I had a burning snapping like a rubberband pain...They go through all those layers to get to where they need to go..It will get better, but you should also consult your doc!

Did anyone have restriction after 1st fill?
UPDATE!! Had the fill, was VERY surprised had absolutely NO pain having it done! By the size of the needle I was surely expecting at least a pinch, but nothing...I had somewhere between 3.5 and 4cc put in...So excited I forgot to ask..Nothing to eat for 2 days, just liquids..I am hungry but do notice some restriction just with fluids..

Girgling, Rumbling Beverage goes straight through
Get some benefiber..I went 15 hours without urinating and 2 weeks without a BM..Have since had great movements. Body needs time to adjust..I thought with all of the fluids, I wouldn't have any problems, also because I had my gallbladder out at the same time, but nope..I don't notice any noises.. My surgery was 12-19-08..Have lost about 25 pounds will know more better tomorrow, I'm getting my first fill..

Did anyone have restriction after 1st fill?
I am have my first fill tomorrow 1-26-09 and I was wondering if anybody had good restriction or any? I keep reading how people aren't getting restriction until 2nd and 3rd fill! I really need some restriction, I need some extra help. I was told about 4cc are gonna go in. I have a standard 10cc band. And I'm a bit nervous too, I have seen those needles, no numbing! I just want some good restriction..Willpower is not enough!

Severe Pain..
justmel1957, that's not true anymore..I had my gallbladder removed at the same time my band went in..I wanted to avoid another surgery later on as I have had problems with my gallbladder in the past with weight loss..Doctor said it's best to do this at the time of band placement, if needed! Didn't take much longer and I don't think I had much pain if any from having it removed..I'm glad too, because he said it should also help with my constipation, well has just now, helped. I have IBS! And diverticulosis..I have noticed, I don't have belly aches as much too..Good luck to you dontmissout86!!

Anyone else get Pleurisy after surgery?
Right side! I have had it before and didn't need an antibiotic. But we'll see, hoping I don't need one..I hate to use an antibiotic if I don't Have too! Have had them so much in my life, just afraid of them not working some day..Doctor said this time could of been just the surgery or from the gas they used..Plus resistance down after any surgery..

Anyone else get Pleurisy after surgery?
Pleurisy is an inflamation of the lining of the lungs. Sometimes to much fluid can become trapped between the layers..I so far do NOT have any extra fluid in there..But It kinda feels like my right side is now affected..I'm some what better though..No anti biotics were given to me..I haven't had a fever though either..I used to be a smoker, so I wonder if this has anything to do with it also..I quit almost 2 years ago, exactly march 6th will be my 2nd anniversary for stopping...My brother in law had this many years ago, but he had it so bad that the doctors cut into him and removed the lining so it would grow directely to his lungs??!! I remember his scar..Glad mine hasn't come to that. The doctors have ok'ed me to lift, but I am taking it slowly, because my son is disabled and I/hubby lift him into and out of his wheelchair..He weighs about 106 give or take..I'm just afraid to lift him still....I really don't want to mess anything up..I do not want to start all over, if I hurt something..

Anyone else have this happen?
The nurse told me to pull a bit and to cut, well one of them had/has the knot coming through my skin. Well I cut it past the knot. So far o good.LOL! Then the other side I didn't cut short enough so now I have an irritating stich poking me,clothes. It's to short to cut again.. I know it kinda freaked me out at first..

Anyone else have this happen?
Last night I went to bed, when I rubbed my incisions and what I thought was a little scab was actually my internal stitches coming through...And I was like it felt like that on the other side too, and sure enough the stitch had come through that incision too! I was told just to clip them off, but it's just weird to me....Was told that they would dissolve in about 3 months..It felt like fishing line to me..Was wondering if this happened to anyone else??!OH, had surgery dec 19th..:cursing:
