  1. I know two wrongs don't make a right but I wouldn't be able to help myself.
  2. Haha! I really would have said that.
  3. Hey! You were banded the day I had my pre-ops. I was banded on the April 11, 2006. Lost 21lbs so far (5 prior to surgery). Tip, stay away from high sodium chicken broth. It will make you retain Water. Drink alot of water, at least a gallon per day. Exercise. Since my return home on 04/14/06, the very next day I was on my bicycle and riding it around town. I walk on the treadmill too. I have no port pain, only when I am biking too hard. Don't be scared to exercise.
  4. LMAO, this is too funny. It's almost like those foods are calling us...some sort of evil plan to take over our world.
  5. I am such a potato chip (Doritos, Salsa Flavor) Peanut butter - ice cream, candy or jar of this but I am just a big nut for peanut butter Since surgery I have been really good. I don't go around, eat or even shop in these aisles anymore. :clap2: Question too, are there any people that are nearing their goal weight but are having problems with the last 10 - 15lbs? If so, do you think that your favorite food plays a part in the resistance?
  6. My reply..should I be in the same situation.... _____ Stay away from the toilet and your index finger, causes erosion of the esophagus _____ and a smile
  7. I am fat because of bad eating behavior. I will never believe it's a disease. It's my fault. I used to eat late, used to eat crazy sized proportions because I'd skip a meal or two, sometimes just have a snack the whole day, didn't exercise and thought I could eat whatever I wanted. Truth is, I would starve my body. By eating once or twice a day, I was making my body scared. I made it store all of the food I did manage to eat, which happened to be late evenings and silly ol' me wouldn't exercise either. I was just outright..WRONG to myself. I mistreated my body and my heart. It was poor judgement of food and bad eating behavior. Before I decided to do the lap band, about 3 weeks prior, I got up off of my arse and started to ride my bike. I started walking and biking and drinking 2 Protein shakes per day and a few bites of dinner. Before the surgery, I lost 8lbs on my own. I look at the lapband as a friend. It's just a tool to help assist me in my weight loss goals. As I ride my bike on the road, I can feel the port inside...with some slight pain every now and then as I hit an incline or a bump and it reminds me of what I am really trying to accomplish. Pain in my sides... or thorn in my arse. Hehehe...either way, it's with me, hopefully for the long run and it's like my drill sargaent.
  8. Hey Susan, I am so excited for you that you will be banded in just practically another week! I pray that all goes well for you. Go into it with a strong mind and don't worry too much. That's what I did, I prayed as well and I have had no complications thus far. I'm doing very very well. I feel great, energetic and not really hungry much, just when I smell food cooking I am soo happy to have made this decision. How's Leesburg? I know Mt. Dora is up the road here. Too bad you weren't closer. Please do keep in touch, let us know how things go for you. Word of advice, the day of your surgery, after you wake up and for at least a few days after, make sure you have Gas X or Malox plus. Myself and a few other girls in Monterrey experienced painful gas in our upper gastric, chest and possibly esophagus area b/c of the bubble pockets. It will subside in a or so. I drank soo much Malox that I passed all of the gas in 1 day. The other girls weren't so lucky, taking them 2 - 4 days to do so, (I kept in touch with them after we left for home). They are fine now but after complaining to the doctor about chest pains..... Doc told them to drink more malox and yep... it did the trick. MALOX OR GASX, highly recommended. That is all I can say, everything else was a breeze. I'll pray for you
  9. Awesome Melody, and might I add you are doing rather well! Wow, that's almost 1lb a day. I don't know many people dropping 1 - 2.5lbs per day but we are! We rock! I pray my momentum of losing this weight doesn't slow down. I know where Orange City is, it's not that far. So, how are you losing your weight? Are you sticking to strictly liquids? Are you exercising? Ever crave food? I found that I get hunger pangs, but it subsides and I don't get up in the middle of the night anymore. Soo much to talk about.
  10. I did 14 miles yesterday on a (my pace) bike ride into town and back home. Felt great. 1 week post op.
  11. April bandit here too! Banded April 11th and feeling really great. No more gas pockets! No more port site pain. I'm loving life and the -12lbs lost in less than 6 days. 98more lbs to go. I am going for the gusto.
  12. Me too. I saw your title and my heart dropped. I thought you really lost your daughter. Happy and proud for you though that you lost all of that weight. Gone for good. I am on my way... new bandster as of 04/11/06 and 12lbs down from that day. One day at a time
  13. Keep up the great work! You look awesome!!!
  14. I'm in Kissimmee. I just had my band placed on 04/11/06. Anyone in the Central Florida area? I'd like to keep in touch and maybe meet a few people. I am doing well. 6 days out and I lost 12lbs. I am excited and wanted to touch base with other successful people.
  15. I was a bit overwhelmed prior to banding but, it never crossed my mind to not go through with the surgery. I had my banding done on 04/11/06 and today at 04/16/06 I am 12lbs lighter. That's 2lbs per day for 6 days . My jeans, that were once tight, were fitting pretty nicely a few days ago. I washed them, then dried them..(drying shrinks your jeans) and today...they fit just fine . It's happening and oh what joy I am having. I have no more pain..just a little discomfort at times because I am not completely healed. It takes a few weeks but I did manage to ride my bike with my kids for about 7 miles today. Prior to surgery I was 240lbs and I needed to drop some weight before surgery, for myself to show I was serious about losing it. I went down to 232lbs. I went on vacation to the Bahamas on 04/05/06 - 04/09/06 and gained back 3lbs. :rolleyes The next day, I headed out to Monterrey, Mexico to meet up with Dr. Rumbaut. I weighed in at 235 (the 3lbs gained). Today, 5 days after the surgery, I am 12lbs lighter at 223lbs now :clap2: . Feels good. I've got another 98lbs to go so I am looking forward to seeing the scale. I am so excited, I look at it every day now, whereas I used to hide from it. My journey begins. Don't ever doubt that this procedure is the right or wrong choice. You know in your heart what you need to do and what you have to do to get there. Good luck and I hope to hear from you a week after surgery.
