I was banded on April 6, 2010.  I fell at work and shattered my wrist in November, 2009 and Dr Rawlins office called me in December saying I could have the lap band surgery well I told them about my wrist and they said I would have to wait another 3 months for my lap band surgery!! Needless to say I was VERY disappointed.  I work at a local hosptial and we recently found out that weight loss surgery is a covered benefit ( with a $2500 deductible ) and there were alot of other associated costs.  Just getting a fill is $69 each time you go.  I have a friend at work that had the lap band 3 months after I did so we always compare notes.  It's nice to have someone to talk to.  This doctor's office only offers a support group once per month and I am usually working when it's time for a meeting.  I need more support.  Sometimes I feel like there is an alien living in me and I would like to get to know it and have it become my friend and help me.  A support group would REALLY help!  Other than that it is now October 1, 2010 and I have lost 40 so far.  I am very happy with my lap band I would just like to know a little more about life with it.  I have been stuck a couple of times and it SUCKS!  I will do almost anything to not be stuck including not eating sometimes which I know is not good but I really HATE being stuck.  I've noticed that if you do it according to the rules you wont get stuck, SMALL BITES, EAT OH SO SLOWLY.  I'm finally getting used to cold food.  Argh!  I've just learned that there are things I must give up in order to make this all work.  After all it is just a habit I'm breaking!  21 days they say to break a habit.
