  1. Anyone getting nervous like me? I am excited and nervous. Have not done to well on my 5 day pre-op diet. Gonna really hit it hard the next few days. How is everyone else doing? Did any one go out and stock up on your liquids?
  2. Unhappyinpa. I would definately drink just clear liquids for a week. Your not suppose to have anything that would make your stomach contract like it is trying to digest. I have never heard of a doctor telling you it was ok to eat pureed foods so soon. Does your doctor specialize in lap band?
  3. I am on the 19th as well. Don't have my time for the surgery until monday. I am hoping it is not too early. Started my pre-op diet today. 4 medifast a day with a lean cuisine. Had my last supper last night. We ordered pizza. Figured it will probably be the last time I can eat it. I sure am hunry today. Go figure. Us 19er's should start a need thread and keep in touch about our journeys. :Dancing_sorry:
  4. No I was asking about drinking on week 2 (mushies). Went for my pre-op and it is ok to have a drink. Whew. So I guess I can order fish that night and have some wine.
  5. Hello, I am also getting banded on the 19th. Excited and scared. Started my pre-op diet today. Also go in today for my pre-op appt. We will be on mushies by Thanksgiving. I am hoping I can have some turkey.
  6. Thank you for your honesty. I will ask tomorrow at my pre-op. But I am thinking a couple vodka cranberry can't hurt too much. I just wondered why it is my no section for week 2. Didn't know if it had to do with the healing process or just want you to be good. Thanks.
  7. I have Dr. Michealson as well. I go in tomorrow for the pre-op. I just have to do 5 day pre-op diet that I will start friday. I am excited and scared. His pre-op seems pretty easy. Just 4 medifasts a day and a lean cuisine at night. They said I will be able to eat mushies by Thanksgiving. So hopefully I can eat a little turkey and mashed potatoes. When will you know? How did you get penciled in? I was not even able to set a date without approval.
  8. Well I will be on mushies so I can kinda eat. I had my gallbaldder out over a year ago. So I always have stomach problems. I figure I can just say my stomach has been acting up and don't feel like eating that much. Then just have beans mushed or mashed potatoes. My doctor on the mushies allows you to eat crumbled meats. So I have not really thought about the eating part. I am more worried about the drinking, they will for sure know something is up if I don't order a drink when were out without the kids that night. I have my pre-op tomorrow I guess I will just ask if it is ok to have a couple drinks that night.
  9. I know were not suppose to. But....... I have a night planned the 2nd week going downtown to do a little xmas shopping and having a night without kids. Staying at a nice hotel. Never get to do this. Go figure it happens right after surgery. Me and my DH never go out. Anyone had a drink on week 2? Will I really damage my band? We are also going with my sister and brother in law who I have not told about the surgery and do not want to. They will know something is up if I don't have a drink. Any suggestions? Anyone have a drink on week 2? Sorry for the sp should be mushies not muchies.
  10. I have my pre-op tomorrow also. I just have to do a 5 day pre diet before surgery. 4 Medifasts a day and one lean cusine. Doesn't sound too bad. Anyone worrying if they will lose after surgery? I have been reading and some people have not lost very much. One girl has only lost 40 pounds over a year. Others only about 10 a month. I hope to lose more. I know I did not gain it over night but really want to see some quick results to keep me motivated.
  11. I know how your feeling. I also feel that way about the pop. I am not a pop drinker but tell me I can't have it then I want it. HA go figure. I am also going to NWWLS for mine on the 11/19/08. I am scared, how did it go for you? I have Dr. Michealson. Were you in pain for anytime?
  12. Just got my approval. Scheduled 11/19/08. OMG I am scared and excited. I hope the surgery is a quick and easy one.
  13. OMG! Freaking out, scared, and excited. APPROVED TODAY!! Scheduled for surgery 11/19/08. EEEEEEK WOW.
  14. WOW! Congrats. Just think by Thanksgiving you will be able to have some turkey. You will be off the mushies. I am still waiting on insurance approval. Hopefully I can get in this month. My luck it will be a few days before Thanksgiving. UGH! Keep us posted on your weight loss. You did not say how much you have to lose.
  15. What doctor are you seeing in Oahu? Where is he located? My mom lives there and I am trying to talk her into getting the surgery. I am waiting for approval from my insurance for mine.
  16. Nutrition consultation was required for insurace. It was with one of the nurses at the Weight Loss Clinic. Also required from the doctor. It was to go over your diet once you have the lap band. On BC/BS if it is a specialist you need to see you have to call before you go and get a pre auth. Weird I know I have never had to do that with any other insurance. I want to have the surgery as soon as possible. So I am just waiting on the approval so I can make the appt. They had the 18th & 19th open when I was there last week. That would be great. It is just a waiting game for me now.
  17. Hang in there. You can go to Anthem.com and log in as a guest to view doctors. They did not have a section for lap band doctors. I found the doctor first then pulled him up on the list. The faclility that I am going to also was on the list. Process was easy so far (knock on wood) I just called got the pre-auth for the visit. Then the doctors office called BC/BS and was told just to send the phys evaluation, letter from doctor and nutrition consult. So they are sending it today. I am hoping they don't come back with something else. Almost seems to good to be true. Especially after reading how hard it is for some to get approval. I will let you know as soon as I hear. I know that different companies have different policies with BC/BS so yours may be different. Hang in there.
  18. I have BC/BS Anthem and have no out of pocket for surgery. The doctor I am seeing is a preffered provider. The only thing I have had to pay for is a $20 co-pay for the office visits with the surgeon, dietitian, and psych evaluation. That was total for all 3. So Derbin247 look for a preffered provider.
  19. I also have BC/BS Anthem PPO. But I am in Washington. I just completed everything and everything is being sent into the insurance tomorrow. I am hoping there is nothing else needed. I am also wondering how long it will take for them to send an approval. I will let you know. Did they say how long it will take to switch you over to PPO?
  20. I have BCBS (Anthem) I am hoping everything goes thru right away. I was told they are a preferred provider. What is a 90 day diet? Was that thru the doctor or your insurance?
  21. Jewels68- that is my doctor also. What date are you getting banded? I have my consultation appointments next tuesday. Did you have any problems with insurance?
  22. Surgery is a scary thing for anyone. I have had a few myself and everything will be ok. Just remember the outcome from it and try to focus on that. I have not been banded yet but have my consultation next tuesday. But I have been watching some videos on You Tube showing others going thru it which seems to help me. Maybe you can check that out. Here is one that is pretty funny. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzJO48j9-_8&feature=related]YouTube - Surgery Day! - Video Blog #12[/ame]
  23. Just wondering how long it took and if you had to do any of the 6 month diet with a doctor? Or any other things to get approved.
  24. Anyone out there have Premera thru Microsoft? I am just wondering if you had to do any supervised 6 month diet with a doctor or anything else to get approved.
