6 days post op and hardly able to eat...help!
Oh come on. Big deal. I saw that post they made. I can see how it might put someone on the defensive but maybe it was an honest question. Some people hear the word diet and after many years their backs are automatically up. It can be a trigger for people. But 12 posts berating and being snarky and bashing someone for a run to the border seems a little over the top. Even if the person is a troll there are 100 others who may have screwed up their diet on here probably feeling pretty crummy after reading the flamefest of disdain.

26 days post-op and not losing...
Add me here too  Had surgery Dec 11th. Went on mushies Dec 22nd and haven't lost a pound since even though I'm not eating that much relatively speaking. Though I know that all I am really eating for mushies is eggs, mashed potatoes and refriend Beans. Maybe my mushie choice isn't good since most of it is carbs. Who knows! If anyone has any advice for mushies that may help lose weight please let me know.

pop/pouch stretching/reversal
I guess what's confusing to me is that I'm a newbie. I don't have any restriction in my band yet. Doc said it's wide open. I do feel hungry but not ravenous. Do I have a pouch to worry about? Or does that happen when I get my first fill? PS: Sorry I don't mean to hijack your thread! Just curious...

pop/pouch stretching/reversal
Does that mean the 5 day thing doesn't work for banded? Or vice versa? I know I'm reading it wrong. lol Looooong day at work.

pop/pouch stretching/reversal
grrr... one of the most aggravating things on these boards is everyone's doctor has a different plan. My doctor said avoiding carbonation is a myth. Your stomach is a pretty tough muscle and it's not going to blowup by drinking soda. It's like the poprocks myth imo. That said I don't drink soda. Diet soda doesn't taste good to me. So I don't really worry about it. I did drink mountain dew prior to surgery and for obvious reasons no longer do that. It makes sense logically you can stretch your pouch by overindulgence though and there is a 5 day pouch shrinking diet on some website that looked pretty interesting.

Ok confession time - who "fell off the wagon" during the holidays?
My doctor allows sodas that aren't flat. He says the carbonation thing is a myth. Your stomach is a strong muscle.. bubbles aren't going to burst it. He also said I could drink wine. Didn't ask about beer though since blech and I was a mountain dew drinker before.. so diet soda tastes gross to me anyway. I discovered Isopure today since I'm at work and there's a Vitamin world nearby and I wanted to buy some chewable Vitamins. It's pretty cool. Tastes like jolly ranchers. MUCH better then the

Coughing and my band
it's not that fragile.. call your surgeon for piece of mind but I wouldn't worry about it. You probably just irritated it a little and it's swollen up. It can do that for a year after surgery I've read.

December 11 date :)
You guys think that once we're on solids it will pick back up again? Or will we need to get fills?

December 11 date :)
Doing good! I started mushies Mondayish and haven't lost a pound since. Kinda bummed about it because I don't think I'm overeating or anything. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Also I'm hungry.. way more then I was on my Protein drinks. Any suggestions? What are you all eating on the mushy phase for the day?

Tingling between shoulderblades?
Hi! Had surgery on December 11th.. (16 days ago). Nothing really remarkable has happened. But today any time I "eat" (mushies and right now pureed french onion soup) I get this tingly feeling between my shoulderblades. Anyone else get this? It's kinda weird. It's mostly right inside my left shoulderblade.

December 11 date :)
Ooo grats FWWAB! I'm so jealous you can sleep on your tummy! I haven't lost a pound since I started mushies day before yeserday. Boooo.. Also struggling to get any food in me anyway.. 3 times a day I eat about 5 tablespoons of something. I think below the 1200 calorie suggested diet to help continue to lose weight. Plus it's snowy out so I can't walk or anything.

December 11 date :)
How is everyone? Got my staples out yesterday and moved to a pureed/mushies diet. Yay! It's amazing how remarkably better I feel with the staples out. They were really bothering me but i thought it was incision pain.. turns out it was staples pain. Mushies is going well. A little afraid of eating the wrong thing and not losing or regaining the weight I've lost. But I am feeling better today then I have in a long time  Happy Holidays

First Post Op Problem
Last thing i want is to get into some flame war which this seems to quickly become. (hi folks! it's the holidays! lighten up!) But my question is.. is there evidence to suggest that the reason there are higher slippage stats is because of adherence to a certain healing stage dietary plan? Because I believe this is not backed up by a study. It's a theory. It may be a good theory but it's not fact. So it might stand to reason to start out with "It is my opinion that..." instead of "it is because of ..." and that will avoid the flames.

Having surgery next month............
Hi Lady  Congrats on your decision and your date. I was banded on December 11th after a 10 day liquid preop. I can make a few suggestions  Stick to the liquid diet.. the first three or four days are VERY hard but it gets easier. Make a mantra that you are doing this for yourself. Make an inspiration board. I did and it helps me so much. Mine is images of clothes I love and can't wait to fit in, kneehigh leather boots, (I even pasted my head on the outfits! lol), snowboarding, horsebackriding and some of my other motivations. Write a note requesting the pain meds in liquid form and anti-naseau medicine so you can get that filled pre-surgery or if you're staying the night have a friend or family member fill it so it's there when you get home. Expect the possibility of an emotional rollercoaster after surgery. I went through one bigtime. General Anesthesia can cause it as well as the fact it's an adjustment. It passes. I'm very happy now. Bring a pillow (like a throw pillow.. love mine from pier 1) to the hospital for the ride home and press it against your stomach when you're sitting up, etc. The support will comfort you. Some people have no pain. I was fine in the hospital with my morphine pump.. I did a lot of walking around the ward too. However when I got home it was painful. It was my first big surgery and that threw me for a loop. The pain on day 3 was the worse.. then day 4 on it got better. It was worth it. Be kind to yourself and follow the dietary rules of your doctor to help your body heal correctly. You can do it. Some people were hungry right after.. personally I still feel satisfied and full 11 days later and am not having that hard a time following my restrictive diet. Don't get too freaked out by the forums. I read way too much then I should have and every other post seemed to mention slippage, etc. But remember complications are very low in studies. This is basically a very safe and effective procedure and there are many many successful stories of people like you and I who get to their goal weight. And don't let anyone tell you it's the easy way out. It's not. But I am very proud of myself for having done it and being committed to it. I may make mistakes down the road but this great tool is always there.. you can always get back on track. Good luck! Hope some of this helps. Happy Holidays!
